In directing Humanized, I had the great privilege of working with an incredibly talented cast and crew (without whom this pilot would not be streaming here today.) The journey has been surreal and amazing, and I’m so proud to be able to share our show with you all. The metaphor of AI has always been used to explore the fundamental questions of human empathy; Humanized uses the scifi genre to engage in questions of gender, parenthood, control, grief, and the ways in which technology interplays with how young people come of age today. To everyone who has ever struggled in finding their identity, this show is for you. Thank you all for watching, and I hope you love Humanized as much as we do.

I've always been uniquely fascinated with the psychological implications of giving our technology human-like qualities. There's no inherent *need* for our virtual assistants to have personalities, and yet, with each update, they receive more programmed quirks to sell the illusion of their humanity. But what happens when a machine wants to define that humanity for itself? While writing Humanized, I aimed primarily to highlight that relatable sentiment of trying to find yourself. However, with each draft, the show transformed into a vessel for so much more than that. Beyond identity and technology, it’s the story of loss, guilt, friendship, vulnerability, family, fear, and more. Through the show’s sterile, sci-fi sheen, I hope this overall heart still shines through

Charming and frightening at the same time. How to describe it? Whew! A little Dr. Frankenstein; a touch of AI phobia; a hint of #5 from Short Circuit and a dash of M5 from Star Trek (the original series). I mean, how to deal with a solid-state mind? What and how do you teach him? How to give him real-life and real-time experiences? Can he reach conclusions which would be greater than the sum of what he was taught? And what happens when he calculates that he is more than his creator, or more than the humans he interacts with? And what about judgement qualities? How would he be programmed to show mercy, or make exceptions? Then there is aging...everyone else grows up, grows old and dies, but he does not? This production raises an infinitude of questions, some of which are already being asked. I eagerly look forward to new material from these very talented people.

PLEASE reassure me that there's more!! Im already waay too emotionally invested. The ongoing conversations about AI have generally missed a very important talking point - and I'm so glad it's at the heart of this narrative! Of course I could be way off, but when the world is pondering the future of AI & machine learning, it's like we've all forgotten that the nature of learning is inextricably from the inherent - yet often overlooked - function of Teaching. As we look around the world today, the role of teachers threatened into obsolescence by people who care not but for themselves. And AI - it's nearly infinite capacity to improve lives, to curb destruction & help us & our planet heal... and evolve... I'm positive Asimov, would agree to add the following caveat to his rule: machines should learn, but WE must teach them. Again, congrats. This show has the potential to get the message thru to a large audience - all the while being very PKD-esque... FANTASTIC

Love dust shows and this one has some top acting, I love the whole concept, the whole turing test so humans can't tell he's not real, but then again he's becoming self aware to is very cool, and that his creator/mum hating this fact that he's becoming independent, the whole contradiction in this, what humans do every day, try and control. Definitely makes you wonder "what happens next". I'm always bothered by these sorts of shows that have robots with incredible knowledge and abilities but not knowing the most basic things about dealing with people. Like with High school, just tell the kid to emulate his peers. Do what the other kids do and keep from drawing attention to yourself. That simple instruction is what gets 99% of us through school. Maybe a download of laws and cultural norms would help. A real AI like this would be hard to tell from a person. But also would be a short story as it would be uninteresting. And eating, it would have a stomach sized bag in the body and even a pump to go out the appropriate holes just like people but with no processing or course. A really good robot would have the ability to use food and drink for it's energy though.
@neilrichardson745417 күн бұрын
😂😂😂 don't worry we'll never create humanoid robots of this level. In fact from a engineering standpoint, you can't create successfully a humanoid robot. At least, nowhere near Robbie's level.
@dougcox83517 күн бұрын
@@neilrichardson7454 I agree. There are a lot of fundamental problems to overcome before you even get to the intelligence. They are getting pretty good with the motors and strength but there is also the energy storage issue. Most of the robots you see in the videos are only good for an hour or two before need to be charged. We get our energy from our environment. What would be needed would be all of the different things to come together at the same time. Energy, strength, dexterity, Senses and then the intelligence.
