Michael Winslow (Jones) was recently on “America’s Got Talent” doing all his sound effects. Apparently, he stopped acting in the 90s to raise his kids after his wife passed away. He appears on AGT last month because his son asked him to. He’s still funny as hell.

Bubba Smith (Hightower) was an All-Pro Defensive End with the Baltimore Colts from 1967-72 playing in 2 Super Bowls. He passed away in 2011.

Fun fact: Michael Winslow (Jones) would be the only actor to appear in all 7 Police Academy movies, the cartoon show and the short lived TV show. David Graf (Tacklebury) and George Gaynes (Lassard) would appear in all 7 Police Academy movies.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it to you, but Hightower wasn't just defending Hooks. He had finally had it with Copelands racism. He heard him call black people spades at the beginning, and he damn sure didn't forget that. So when Copeland got really racist really loudly, especially against the sweetest person there, he wasn't letting Copeland get away with it.

While it's an older term, it wasn't necessarily used offensively in those places. But, having traveled and lived in some English speaking countries, I came across it as an offensive term. Or rather, it was used and also taken, as an insult to my surprise. In any event, I am only guessing at 'moolie' = mulatto. I would be curious to know if you ever asked your grandfather about the word and where it came from. Just wondering.

Alan Ladd was a movie star in the 1940's. Alan Ladd Jr. was a movie producer in the 1970's. Police Academy(1984) is about misfit police officers upholding the law. This film spawned several quickie sequels. There was a Police Academy cartoon in 1989 on TV.

Fun fact the actor who played hightower used to play football in college in America and he was one of the nicest guys in the whole world sadly he passed away about 5 or 10 years ago and his name was bubba Smith

17:25 several reasons 1 - if people find out there’s boobs shown in the movie…in theory more will go see it and more money - sex sells 2 - it projected the notion of sex positivity in society, that the awesome parties had this happen… 3 - in universe explanation…it was the early 80s…the notion of the free spirit hippy movement hadn’t fully been killed off yet, the combination of being in uniforms learning and strictness…the party as a whole was seen as a cathartic relief, and in this era, add some beers and good vibes and music, people were less ashamed and uninhibited…what many mistake such things to mean, is just cos it’s the middle of summer, a hot night and everyone is feeling relaxed and comfortable enough to go topless or such, does NOT mean the party becomes an orgy…

25:50 although if we wanna get technical…Barbara only made the first attack by hitting Copeland with the tray…but he didn’t throw a “punch” First lesson of answering questions from police officers and lawyers…PAY CAREFUL ATTENTION TO THEIR EXACT WORDING, AND ONLY ANSWER THE SPECIFIC QUESTION THEY ASK… In school someone I knew was trying to pick a fight, they threw a punch at me, I dodged it easily, then uppercut his jaw…everyone tried claiming I threw the first punch…I then suggested they check the security cameras, and then pointed out that I did NOT throw the first punch…but mine WAS the first that connected with its target and caused damage…subtle yet highly important difference

This movie was filmed in Toronto, the " Academy " is the former Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital. That's my old neighborhood, the hospital grounds were a favorite make-out spot when I was a teenager.

It always shocks me how short police training time is in America (at least in the shows / movies I've seen). They say 14 weeks in the beginning here and 24 later and in Brooklyn 99, they say 6 months. As far as I know, where I live, lower rank police training is a 3 or 3.5 year apprenticeship and higher ranks (the ones that get appointed as detectives) are basically a university degree.

Academy training is short. It's followed by years of on the job training. Watch the Nathan Fillion show The Rookie, it shows what happens after the academy.

Kim Cattrall, yes, and the reason why she's not coming back is because apparently her co-stars where bullying her. Actually, Michael Winslow (Jones), David Graf (Tackleberry) and George Gaynes (Commandant Lassard) are the only actors to be in ALL the movies, so if you wanna see more of Jones then you should react to the other 6 movies ;) =)

The Ladd Company was a little production company founded by Alan Ladd, Jr. who was once a major guy at 20th Century Fox back in the late 70's and was one of the only people to believe in Star Wars during its infancy. He went out on his own in the early 80's with this company, but I don't believe it lasted very long.

Police Academy 4 is that last good one. Another good Steve Gutenberg comedy is “Three Men and a Baby”. I recommend it. See if you can spot the “ghost” in the background if that movie. i think u forget something like most "clients" usualy do . In most stores next to "the client is allways right" plate there is one that says "no shirt no shoes no service" (which eliminates his "right" if some conditions aren't met) and next to it is also one "the establishment reserves the right to not serve specific customers" and yeahh this one has said "client" name on it if u will.

Boobies usually do attract more audiences back in the day, especially teen boys and this was before the internet ;) Bubba Smith (Hightower) was originally a football player before he became an actor and he sadly passed away in 2011. Most of the actors from this franchise have sadly passed away, like Marion Ramsey (Hooks) passed away this year, David Graf (Tackleberry) in 2001 & George Gaynes (Commandant Lassard) in 2016. Before Steve Guttenberg got cast as Mahoney, other three actors were considered for the role - Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis and Judge Reinhold.

"why is that happening?"...... Short answer is it was the 80s. People used to be much more laid back about sex (and sexual content in movies). Remember 80s and 90s in the US had high teen pregnancy rates.(though the highest rates were actually in the 1950s)
