As a Chinese American, born and raised in America I would be twice as offended by LVMH, Kering and other luxury companies trying to sell their made in China but assembled in Italy/France my Chinese migrant laborers in horrid conditions with their insane markups for less than quality goods. It's even worse that some brands don't hide "made in China, Portugal, Bangladesh, India, Vietnam, etc..." with their crazy over 100% to 5,000% markups prices for things that costs 50 dollars or less to manufacture. It's good as a tomboy, I wasn't ever much into fashion but just want my cute, comfortable and everyday wear to be of quality and long lasting no matter the brand or non-branded items.

Sadly, many luxury items made in Portugal, Spain and Morocco are taken to Italy or France and passed off as items made there, with much cheaper labor despite the tradition in these countries with leather and accessories.
@periscope77312 ай бұрын
Please refrain from comparing Portugal to these Asian countries that are choking their citizens with poor air quality. Portugal has a great manufacturing tradition when it comes to textiles and shoes. From small independents to top luxury brands such as Stella McCartney and Lemaire. Somelos-Tecidos, S.A. produces exquisite Portuguese flannel for Brooks Brothers shirts. Portugal, with its modern high-tech factories that specialize in small batch production, has become the haven for natural materials and sustainable processes when it comes to the production of fashion collections.

LVMH deserve everything coming to them. Their quality has plummeted and prices gone through the roof. They have been using a supply chain with complete disregard for human safety and human resource and their complete arrogance in not even, to my knowledge, publicly acknowledging it, shows they take their customers for absolute fools. An arrogant greedy company, where the art and creativity seems to have all but disappeared.
@avarice.karmageddon2 ай бұрын
Ironic, how LVMH, Kering as well as other luxury brands and companies like Disney in the entertainment and video games companies have copied each other in their declining quality, price increases and milking their customers dry as fools. I wonder how long before all these house of cards start to fall into bankruptcies.

2 hours (and one dye job) later, and I can honestly say, this stream today has ironically been the most anti-superficial, deep, thought-provoking, humanizing, educational fashion stream I ever did see. What a riveting story. I'm going to see if I can find a good book about Coco. I need to get those five books. Thank you, Super Dacob. I learned something today. You tell a good tale.

dear dacob, this live stream is the best yet... your insights in the lvmh q3 report segment is a wakeup call for everyone who's been into luxury for a long while, and also for newcomers who just starting their luxury journey... your telling of coco's history segment also poignant. love them. these 2 segments makes me reflects and be more thoughtful while treading on my luxury journey. im sure many others too. the big corps are slowly and surely destroying century of heritage, reputations, craftmanship (quality) that brands took lifetimes, hardwork, blood and sweat to build!

I was told that LV desire customers who can afford to buy a bag, matching jewellery and clothing and footwear from the brand in one day's shopping alone. Customers who have ready money, who can furnish their homes with the homewares, including a variety of hard sided items.

Every brand’s favorite customer would be a customer who buys all products the brand has to offer.

Thats one of the reasons i quit my job this year at LV.. "Clienteling" they would call it 🤙 Reacing out to local clients that we should propose new stuff to.. Ready to wear, new collaborations, launch of products ect. (57:40) Many of my colleagues dreaded this task. Sometimes It felt a little "cheap" and "pushy" to write to some of the clients. Especially if you knew they where not interested in buying. They have KPIs on how many reach outs you have made for local clients. And in periods that will make special potential clients list and you have to complete your lists. In times with not so much traffic in store, "clienteling" would be higher priority. I'm from Europe btw. Thank you Jacob for making this content. You are a fashion prophet.

I get so many texts these days from my CA but when I asked for a runway piece they gave me the run around. Also they said I was 'potentially' in the running for the VIC Xmas gifts this year. I'm not even interested anymore and told them I'm going to Hermes

I thought it was just a regional thing regarding the preference for Chinese customers/SAs that are cold to English speakers but accommodate others in their languages, but it makes sense. At first it seems like it would be nice to “command” to SAs that way, but it’s pretty predatory and problematic to be profiled either way. I doubt they’re “building relationships” with their customers, it’s viewing certain minorities as “cash cows” and it perpetuates a lot of prejudice between communities which is unfortunate. I noticed this especially at Hermes but it trickled down to LV, and well, Chanel in Southern California wouldn’t even let me in 😅 not interested anymore.
