Thanks for your comment 🙏Right on! I have been waiting for the Optimus 4090 FE water block for nearly 1 year. I believe they announced it was coming Jan 2023. Still waiting to finally try one of their GPU blocks and will get it when they release it (don't have a 4090 Strix or TUF) and a video on it. I do like their CPU blocks (Foundation and Signature) and like their fittings. I am on the fence on their reservoirs. Heatkiller is all-around and has many offerings CPU/GPU blocks, Reservoirs and Radiators and the MORA. They just need some in-house fittings. I hope both Optimus and Watercool continue to grow and offer new products. Thanks again for your comment and thanks for watching

Awesome to see a review of the HK block. I'd love to see some commentary and comparisons of various blocks and water cooling parts. By the way, do you know if the HK block works with a 90 degree adapter (cablemod)? Some of these 4090 blocks have recessed power slots.

Thank you for your comment 🙏You're right on point. I am considering a "roundup" type of video where I compare the thermals across all the 4090 cooling solutions I have tested on this channel. I have the data to compare the 4090 FE stock cooler, 4090 FE Bitspower water block, 4090 FE Heatkiller water block, 4090 Reference Alphacool water block. I would try to reuse some of the better shots from each episode and consolidate into a single video with new charts. It would be my first go at it so I would expect some of the pacing and commentary to have improvements over time. It if turns out good/useful, then I could do a similar roundup for the RTX 4080, since I have tested about 4 cooling solutions for that one too. I am currently working on a PC build video (4090 FE with HK block and HK reservoir, black EVO, AM5 system with 7800x3D). As for the 90 degree adapter and the recessed power slots, I took a look at the HK block with PCB attached and it doesn't seem too recessed. I then checked the HK compatibility and it appears this HK V Pro water block will be okay with Cablemod's "Adapter A". Hope that helps.

One thing that would be good to see is a graph showing the temperature delta (y axis) in relation to power draw (y axis) over time (x axis). Then show min/max/avg (individual and relative). Knowing the flow rate would also be good info as this can impact deltas. I have the same block but used kingpin KPX paste and am getting slightly better temps. At 500w peak power consumption in 3Dmark Port Royal 4k I was getting a delta of 18° C. At 450w it was around 16c. At 375-425w (gaming load) i was getting 10-14c. This was at a flow rate of 115 L/h. You may want to check your TIM spread. I used the spread method. Also, I'm not a huge fan of Kryonaut. The initial performance is fine, but I find over time that it degrades faster than other TIMs.
@vectornetwork
@vectornetwork Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment 🙏and thank you for the information you provided. I am interested to explore the suggestions you made with regard to the graphs and showing 2 items on the Y axis over time and then showing the mix/max/avg. I do have all the data and this would be in replacement of the averages or in addition to? I have never done any of this type of testing before I developed this current methodology. It's not perfect, so I am happy to learn more and potentially improve it. Also, I do agree with your suggestions with regards to the paste and flow rates. Good eye there as you sort of identified the areas that weren't as clear cut, if that makes sense. For the flow rate, I have an Aquacomputer Next Sensor that I procured specifically for this build and I just couldn't figure out a good location with it (I also have another smaller Aquacomputer flow rate monitor that didn't seem right in any position either). I didn't want to force it to so not having a flow rate was a compromise. For the paste, I do think there are other options that can perform better than the Noctua NT-H2. I simply use it to be consistent. Its sort of why I do the same X paste. I also have a lot of the paste as I really like those Noctua wipes and those come with the paste and the thermal guards. However, I do think changing it up can be beneficial, so I may change up paste and/or methods too. The X was purely for something visually interesting. I'm not sure if smoothing the paste out to a thin layer would be interesting but I think it could be. Hope that helps.

Nice content! I am also looking for a WB for my 4090FE and I am considering either heatkiller or alphacool CORE. The thing that stops me from HK is that I saw the liquid gets in between the nickel plate and acrylic (off the water channels tho). I saw that from ur video as well, in the channel part, the coolant looks red, and some coolant gets in between somewhere else and looks pink. I am a bit concerned about this. For alphacool, I am just not sure if it performs as good as HK and I don’t really like the look or say ratio of their FE block…
@vectornetwork
@vectornetwork Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment 🙏I haven't yet tested the alphacool CORE, although I do have one on order for the Asus TUF 4080. I plan on doing a video when that arrives. I am working on a full build video that includes the HK block. I had to take it completely apart to clean it as the red dye wasn't coming out. I ran some mayhems blitz phase 2 and that marginally reduced the red. I do you think you may see liquid/bubbles get in between the plate and acrylic (but not past the o-rings) on a variety of different models and not only the HK. Hope that helps

Thanks for your comment🙏Good eye to see those plastic horseshoes. I did remove them on purpose. If I had seen them, I would have removed them earlier and have them not shown for the footage. They had to be removed for the backplate to be installed. I did keep them an intend to put them back if/when I reinstall the NVIDIA stock cooler. I do think that much of what I do would void the warranty but that doesn't really deter me. It is likely that everyone's situation is a bit different. Hope that helps.

@@JB-bi5vt Thank you friend. I am pretty stoked to hear that the video helped and that you watched it more than once. That's so awesome! But wait, you were able to keep the horseshoes on? Wouldn't they be too tall for the backplate? I do recall that the thermal pads were rather thick, but I don't think they were thick enough to be taller than the plastic horseshoes. But then again, I didn't 100% check.

Hi nice video I had a question are there any issues with the metal washers put on the back I was reading by some seemed concern about them as just curious how is the focus water-block compared to EKWB’s water-block? I’m asking cause I’m torn between this card and that one?
@vectornetwork
@vectornetwork 11 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment 🙏 If I recall correctly, the metal washers (without rewatching the video) are foam/sticky soft material underneath. So, it's not like metal directly on the PCB. I have to re-watch to be 100% sure though. As for your water block question, what is the "focus water-block" you're referring to? If it's a Heatkiller block, then I would recommend HK. For lower priced (and higher priced) blocks, there are other companies I would initially lean towards before EK. Hope that helps.

Which of the 4090FE blocks do you like the best?
@vectornetwork
@vectornetwork Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment 🙏Good question and I have been thinking about it. I have only tried 3 FE blocks (Alphacool Eisblock, Bitspower Orion and Heatkiller V Pro), so my opinion will be limited to those. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be the Heatkiller one. I have tried a HK block for the 3080, so I wasn't surprised by the quality of the block. Something noticeable for me was the installation felt more secure and repeatable. This does not mean the other brands are not secure, this is simply an incremental difference. The Alphacool Eisblock is a terrific block. Alphacool upgraded their water blocks for this 40-series generation. Upgrades include chrome plating (marginally more resistant but it shines, almost like a mirror shine) and using one large black O-ring rather than 4 smaller ones. This leads to a cleaner look. Temps were right around expectation (actually a little better, temps were like HK temps). The Bitspower water block is most similar to Corsair. I actually thought I was sent a Corsair product at first glance. Both products seem like they are manufactured in Taiwan and share similarities in the boxing and the pre-applied thermal pads. There is a lot to like about the Bispower water block. It's a simple block and has the terminals on the side. For instructions, they are found on their website and not in the box. I am likely doing a Optimus water block (Rev.2) episode for the 4090 Strix and that will likely be the best block available for any card at the moment. If that happens, I will be doing a 4090 Strix episode before that. Hope that helps!

@vectornetwork
@vectornetwork 9 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment🙏I did. I see you noticed I removed them without showing it on camera. This is the second time someone was sort of surprised I did so. I don't see how I can get the backplate on the card with those plastic horseshoes still in place (I kept them of course for if I want to reinstall the stock cooler). Those plastic guides are much taller than the 2mm for the backplate, so I had to remove them. Hope that helps

hi bro, what's the best block you've tested?great content friend
@vectornetwork
@vectornetwork Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment 🙏Good question my friend. The best block I have tested so far is likely the Heatkiller V Pro block for the RTX 4090 FE. I have tested another Heatkiller block for the RTX 3080 and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the build of the HK block. So, I wasn't surprised when I received and tested the HK V Pro block. I had to take the block completely apart recently as I am working on a full PC build using the HK block and the red dye from the video wasn't coming off by simply flushing it with Mayhems Blitz Phase 2. So, after taking the water block apart, cleaning it, putting it back together (did get all the footage, seeing if it's worth adding it in the build), I have to say that I feel comfortable doing that over and over again with the same block and screws provided. I would feel comfortable installing, uninstalling and reinstalling the same HK block over and over again on cards, using the same materials (not thermal pads or paste of course). Having said that, I haven't yet tried Optimus GPU blocks. I have tried their CPU blocks and I find them to be outstanding. On the same level or higher than the HK. One subtle difference is that their CPU block can be installed all without a screwdriver (just by hand). I do plan on testing an Optimus GPU block one day. Hope that helps

I don't recall it on the 4090PNY. I still have all three cards and they are all in water blocks and I currently do not notice coil whine on the cards. Hm, it's a tough one. The path of least resistance would be to keep the current card and it's possible that the coil whine will lessen over time and you will get used to it more. I would focus on the performance of the 4090, rather than some electrical noise that comes from something so powerful. The other option would be to continue returning the card in hopes of receiving one with less noise. It is something that you have tried already 2x. Maybe third time's the charm or simply get use to it and maybe it goes away. Tough one, your choice of course. Hope that helps
