On today's episode SRK Cycles talks about the strange circumstances that came with this 2007 Honda CBR600RR. This bike only has 35 miles and came with over $3,000 in upgrades! The guy who bought the bike from us traded in a Yamaha R1 due to the fact that it was too easy to do 170mph...allededly (we cannot confirm or deny).
Follow us on Instagram: goo.gl/WKsgVX
SRK Cycles is a motorcycle dealership located in Landisville, PA. We post awesome videos of the bikes that we get in! Our inventory is always changing so check out our website to see what is currently in stock here. www.srkcycles.com/

The first thing that came to mind was that bike might have been a display bike for all the custom products. That could explain why it’s empty of fluids and has almost no miles.

Maybe bike was crashed and owner repaired it with chinese aftermarket fairings and other crappy parts such as fake carbon levers, shitty billet grips, new stator cover, mirrors etc. Then he slapped on new gauge and there you have it, brand new bike with 35 miles. What company would display bike with chinese Ebay parts and slapped stickers all over the fairings? :D I wouldn't be surprised if those carbon swingarm and frame covers hide some scratches which came when the bike went down.

It sounds like a show/trade event bike. Probably for one of the aftermarket manufacturers or retailers. Show builds are done this way frequently, if they didn't have a specific plan for it afterwards, easiest thing to do is auction it because it was probably written off as a marketing expense. Lots of "show" vehicles end up like this. They just need to look pretty, never intended to be built to ride. It was likely a last minute addition to show off the carbon fiber or stainless lines, thrown together in a week, rolled into a sprinter van, onto a showroom floor, back in the van to a warehouse, and a victim of a shop purge which landed it at an auction!

My pa used to tell me the story about a kid that rode his 600RR to an old abandoned mine. Said he wanted to find gold so he could help his family because the farm was going through it's third dry spell. The kid went in and never came back out. On a clear night, if you listen carefully, you can hear the sound of the Yoshi exhaust...

i know all about this bike. it was built in a small garage in north jersey for a showcase event at pompton power sports. not sure where the stock bike originally came from but it was built in north jersey. the man who owned the bike was well into his 50's and had a younger son he planned the to give the bike to. unfortunately he received brain damage in a MVA and was never able to ride it. not sure how many hands it went thru after that but seems to be in the same state he sold it in. the stickers weren't there so that tells me someone added them but all the carbon and everything apart from the levers are real. beautiful bike tho.

I went to college across the street from an Army Air Station in this bike's era and I can say at the time you couldn't walk 100 yards without passing something like this parked in someone's driveway for their friend/brother/husband/whatever while they were deployed. Army was giving huge signing bonuses and they were often bought with cash then forgotten (one of my friend's even bought a new WRX cash with his bonus); I even knew some that were bought via proxy by parents and friends. Maybe a proxy bought it for someone, built it out, and the actual owner hated it when he got back.

Another theory is someone bought the bike took it to a shop to have all the work done shop goes bankrupt or person cannot afford to pay the shop so it ends up in a legal matter bike sits because of it till the matter is resolved and by that time person looses interest in the bike finally realizes it’s not worth what he has in it finally sells it

2007 was the year of the crash so:- He buys it and then money dries up. He can't afford to finish it but he can't sell it for anywhere close to what he paid for it and he doesn't want to ride it and put miles on it. He hopes for a financial recovery that never comes and the bike is slowly depreciating. Anyway he can't sell it until its bully rebuilt and that costs time and money that he doesn't have. He looses interest or he has a family and the dream is over, so he just sells it to get it gone. My first bike was 2 year old with 100 miles on it (owner's boyfriend developed epilepsy). My current bike was 3 years with 600 mile (owner's dad got sick) . While I was shopping I found a Honda that was 2 years old with 9 miles on it. They guy worked in the middle east and just sold it back to the dealership.

Well, when you are living on base in the dorms and eating at the chow hall, you are pocketing everything. I think the only thing I "needed" was a cell phone. You don't have to worry about utilities, don't need a car, don't need a gym membership, tax free commissary/gas/base exchange/movie theater.. Just don't be that guy that blows his money through tech school and you're set. It's common for people to buy a sweet car when they get to their first duty station. Plus, you don't have time to spend your money when you're doing a tour.. unless you are the jackass that loses it all gambling under the table. Tax free salary for 4-6 months is pretty nice. The best way to make extra money in the military is having a wife and the more kids the better.. like 1,000 per dependent per month. Also, if you live with off base, you get BAH and it's the standard cost of living in your area.. so if you get 1200/month, and have 3 roommates paying 400 each, you make bank.

That CBR600RR is still a really fast bike, and definitely not for first-time Riders, if you want something to relax on and just ride comfortably I would have got a 70s Honda CB550 or CB750, I just love the fact of having an old vintage classic antique that is extremely reliable and very easy to work on also, I have a 72 CB750 that I ride everyday in Southern California and she has not given me a single issue, I love the classics although the modern sport bikes like the CBR600RR or an extremely reliable as well, I just have a real soft spot for the classics

Looks like there would be a paper trail via the VIN # but if it's never been registered then it's likely to remain a mystery until someone with first-hand knowledge speaks up. Definitely interesting story. I honestly wouldn't ride it, just finish modding it up and keep it on display in my shop. The value might slowly increase enough to eventually make a tidy profit.
