Nice cheap trucks. The problem with the Ranger Raptor is the coil springs on the back, cutting towing ability by 2,000 pounds. I do a pricing for Lariat and it works out about $5,000 cheaper than the Raptor. And that's probably enough to convince me to get the Lariat.
@mase002

@@healingenso7923if towing is a high point of sale for you i think the full-size truck is the market you should be searching in. Midsize trucks have always been about toy hauling and offroad performance. And I think it should stay that way. Towing a bit? Yeah, i get that. Froends are going to ask for help moving and a trailer will speed that up, but if your looking to haul a couple ton of bricks upsize in truck.

I bought my Ranger Raptor a year ago (in 11 days), and am about to clock 15,000km (9,300mi). It’s been awesome. I cannot rate it highly enough. A couple of tuning houses here in Australia are already getting 620lb-ft (up 190), and 483hp (up 90) from these engines - with one (licensed and authorised by FoMoFo), doing the tune and preserving the factory 5 year warranty on the powertrain. I paid $92,000AUD ($60,000USD) for it, but had to wait 7 months. I’d buy another one in a heartbeat though (if anything happened to it). I just wish I could use it more. I keep searching KZbin for Ranger Raptor content because I can’t wait to start seeing the stuff you Americans will be putting out about it on adventure.

Mine was a piece of garbage and it’s already been moved on. Off-road they are also thirsty as hell. 180km to the tank on Frazer Island. Bring on the new Hilux hybrid.
@CM303898
@CM303898 4 ай бұрын
@@henrya1051performance is expensive. Drive a Porsche 911 sedately and the economy is probably alright. Drive it hard on track and the consumption skyrockets. Air down a Raptor and drive hard on sand, and the consumption climbs. Grab a normal dual cab doing 9L/100km and the Raptor is already using a third more than that (3L/100km). If you get 14L/100km out of a diesel dual cab, your thirtier Raptor is going to push 17-19L/100km. Succumb to the urge to use the Raptor how it’s advertised, and you’ll see 17, 18, 19L per hundred. Drive it non-stop like the ads and you’ll easily see 40L/100km. Hybrids aren’t going to be revolutionary for off-roading. Toyota’s new Tacoma hybrid only has a 1.9kWh battery, and the powertrain of that is widely considered to be the underpinnings of the next Hilux hybrid. To put a dampener on that, Ford announced their PHEV package coming for Ranger, quoting EV-only range of 45km. A Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV does 84km on 20kWh, weighing in at 2,020kg. The PHEV Outlander weighs 260kg more than a regular Outlander. Dual cab Rangers are about 2,300kg and will incur couple hundred kilos of battery and electric motor, so a similar 19kWh battery moving 29% more weight would be a net decrease of about 44% range putting range of about 47km - close enough. So let’s say 300kg more weight for a 19kWh battery and electric motors, making the Rangers 2,600kg, to get 45km. Expect the next Hilux to be bigger and heavier than the current model as it gets crammed with more tech. So if Toyota just slaps the 1.9kWh hybrid powertrain from Tacoma into the next Hilux, don’t expect anything special off-road in terms of fuel consumption, because it will be out of power in no time. If Toyota want to give Hilux a 40-50km EV-only range (on road), then firstly; don’t expect more than 10-15km off road unladen. And secondly, because hybrids generate new power through harvesting things like braking, then the opportunity to harvest when your aired down will be limited as the physics of the rolling resistance of sand and flatter tyres will deprive you of most of that harvesting. Add in that your Hilux would be about 300kg heavier than standard as well, so if you’re out of charge, your T24A 2.4L TI4 petrol will be left to lug around the circa 2,500kg Hilux (excluding people and gear). So for me, these forthcoming hybrid trucks will be good for large camp power setups, removing the need to engage aftermarket battery companies to sort out an electrical system. Ford’s Rangers optioned with the PHEV package will come with a selector to choose between Full EV mode, hybrid assistance, or charge saving, so you can be either pure electric propulsion, a mixture of ICE and electric, or saving all the electricity for use at your leisure. That means if you go camping, you can save all your power for the camp. If other manufacturers like Toyota don’t do that, you could find yourself driving to camp with the vehicle chewing through the battery charge, and arriving with virtually no power. Will I sell my Raptor for a PHEV Ranger? I have no intention yet, but I’d never rule it out.

Raptor with the Tacoma color. I like that both have the dash with instruments (probably digital, but it's OK) in front of the driver, and a screen aside. This is showing that you are on a car, or truck and not in your office. BMW, and other cars, like you to stay in an office even when you're driving your car... the dash is a huge horrible screen similar to that you have in your office. Of course, if you don't work in an office you don't care, but then think that you are always in front of the screen of your PC, even when you're sitting on your car. Thanks for the video guys!

Ranger raptor hands down, the front lockers are far more valuable for me then the front disconnecting sway bar. The four wheel auto in the ranger raptor is also hyper important for my life in the province of quebec where our winters are terrible. I don't want anything to do with a vehicle that isn't a default four wheel drive at all times. The lights and interior are nicer for the ranger raptor despite the body being nicer for the Tacoma. The battle is really regarding the chevrolet colorado zr2 and the ranger raptor in my personal opinion.

@@DonTrumpF2024ever - The 2022 Tundra is n screaming h*ll when it comes to reliability. Toyota is not the mythical monster they used to be. Too much competition out there forcing them to take chances and make big changes vs minor changes. If it was the 4Runner??? Heck yeah!! But even Jeep can get pretty reliable putting out the same powertrain year after year. The new 4Runner,,, will not ever be as reliable as the current one. Toyota has accepted that as a trade off and now they are #1 in profits (14% vs Tesla at 9%). They will still be good vehicles, but not as good as they used to be. Ford Rangers are pretty reliable. Toyota not offering 4X Auto in their offroad oriented trucks is a deal breaker here in the northern states. Mixed condition roads (Dry pavement with wet or snow-covered spots) don't do well with 2x or with a locked 4x (Binds on the dry portions). Only offering an AWD system in the Limited will limit their market when all of the competitors have it available.

Driving around on mostly dry pavement on 4X is hard on the drive line and you have to remember to switch it from 2X to 4X. With the other brands, you switch it into 4 Auto once and forget about it. However, over 90+% of vehicles no longer offer stick shift, crank windows, or any of the other manual controls from yester year. The vast majority of buyers don't want them. Buyers want all the comfort and convenience features their available dollars will afford. This is especially true for AWD systems in the north. It is one of the reasons SUV's have taken over the market to the point many manufacturers have scaled back or eliminated their sedan offerings. One of these trucks has a front locker in addition to the rear. One of these trucks has wider axles and longer control arms, giving it more suspension travel in every scenario, even when the TRD Pro unlocks its stabilizer, than the other. That truck is the Ranger Raptor. It also happens to get the 3.0L EB giving it more horsepower. We also know the MSRP for the Ranger Raptor is about $55K-$58K even optioned up. The TRD Pro is probably going to be over $63K. This isn't close. The prices Toyota are charging for the new Tacoma are crazy, especially the higher trims.

Both trucks are nice, the Toyota finally updated most of its shortcomings, except the most important thing.. the front suspension is still lacking suspension travel, the ranger raptor has a lot of suspension travel, I’d rather see an option for a solid front axle in the toyota…

I think my biggest question with the Raptor is whether the 4A means it's transfer case is based off of clutch packs so when pushing it hard could the clutch pack heat up and disengage the 4WD. Or does it have both transfer case systems? I have seen videos of the ZR2, both Silverado and new Colorado, disengage 4WD even when in 4LOW or 4HI due to the clutch packs heating up (computer disengaging 4WD to preserve it). I would likely never push it close enough to heat the clutch pack to 4WD failure but some may.

have to remember that the Ranger is based on the Aussie Ranger. We here in America are taller and bigger/fatter so backseat room not as much of a concern, me personally I would prefer the Ranger over Tacoma because trucks getting to big, even midsized trucks are approaching the dimensions of a full sized truck 10-15 years ago.

I've already called at least 20 dealers. They charge between $10k and $15k markup above MSRP for both of these trucks. A few Ford dealers even tried to tell me that I had to pay them a pre-order charge on top of a normal order charge to hold the vehicle. For that price, I could get a fully loaded GMC AT4 or fully kit out a previous gen Tacoma with a T56 magnum, a 700hp LSX, racing seats, and an aftermarket Sony infotainment system. Dealers can suck a fat one. I'm sick of this.

I think when they officially announced it, it came down to the way we talk about horsepower, because believe it or not, but there is metric horsepower and imperial horsepower. IIRC it’s about 2% different. That makes up for about 8hp, but it could also come down to the reliability of the dyno that these engines were first benched on. It’s easy to say that Ford in Michigan would have benched it, but we know these engines are fitted in Thailand and the vehicles come here. Perhaps it was a hot day, perhaps the dyno was slightly off. Perhaps the motor they used to bench it was a bit stiffer or was not operating at its absolute best; maybe 99% it’s best - that’s 4hp right there. In reality, there’s almost certainly nothing in it. Sure it can be claimed the Americans get a higher number, but I’ll be the 0-100 pulls, and quarter mile times are all the same as ours. At the end of the day, you can waste time wondering and imposing some unwarranted inadequacy upon yourself due to something you’ll never know is either a genuine difference or a circumstantial anomaly. Enjoy your vehicle. I enjoy my Raptor every day.

I’ve had an f150, Tacoma, a full size raptor and a Chevy Colorado, my blue 2024 ranger raptor just arrived yesterday, I ordered it in December. They sold it to me for msrp with taxes tags and everything it came out to 61,000 even, they gave me 23000$ for my 2018 f150 lariat, with 108k miles on itI have nothing bad to say about Ford, there was not one issue and I got the bumper-to-bumper warranty for an extra $3000 so I’m covered for every nook and cranny up to 75,000 miles. That includes computer glitches, anything and it’s replaced for free. People do not read these videos comparing this to that, without a flinch it is the most amazing vehicle I have ever owned-people take it from me, Nothing comes close. It is like a dream if you have the money and the means I suggest if you’re a truck enthusiast, you buy one. It has it all!!! I had a 5.0 V8 in my lariat and I had a 2017 raptor with that 3.5 L V6 with 450 hp, traded it in on the f150 because for the amount of money I paid for it. I felt that engine absolutely sucks. way too much $ for a V6. They never should’ve ever put a V6 in a full-size raptor stupidest move ford ever made. The 5.0 V8 is a better engine then the 450 hpower raptor V6 it’s non-debatable because I owned them both. The ranger raptor 3.0 V6 turbo goes 0 to 60 in 5 seconds flat. Don’t believe the dirt sheets, it is the best engine I have ever had in a vehicle, it smokes the 5.0 as well. It is insane and I promise you it smokes the full size raptor v6. Ford would never allow it to be shown to the public legit. I know; I owned both, the Colorado and Tacoma are not even in its league, they are inferior in every way, I’m sorry folks, it is what it is. I had a 15 tacoma and a 15 Colorado i traded them both in on the full size raptor. There engines were trash. I honestly do not know why the Tacoma is hyped up so much DONT BELIEVE IT and you’re in denial if you do. The Colorado engine was the worst. I test drove a Tacoma last year and . The only benefit of a Toyota Tacoma is the six speed manual they make,I like that, I think the Chevy Colorado ZR is a bad ass looking truck, I love the look of the ZR2, but the engine is trash, my buddy has a 2023 black ZR2 and you cannot compare to the Ford Ranger raptor engine. It’s not fair. There’s not a comparison. I’m telling you people it’s the facts. Same with the Tacoma the one I test drove a year ago had 275 hp and honest to God you can’t compare these two trucks because they don’t measure up. That’s just the facts. I’m not having a debate about off Roading, I’m just telling you flat out if you’re looking at these vehicles from an engine performance angle, these are the facts. I wanted the raptor with a 5.2 predator supercharged V8 but I’m sorry even with somebody like myself that has a little bit of cash to throw around, I could not force myself to buy a raptor R for 150k. The Ranger raptor is exactly the exact same width that my 2018 F150 was and a foot and a half shorter. With a wheelbase 17 inches narrower which makes it better for going through mud and snow. If I had one complaint, it’s the fact that to lock the front differential in the Ford Ranger raptor it is a massive pain in the ass and you can only go up to 10 miles an hour and it disengages. It’s a Folk you heard it from the source. This truck is Ford ranger raptor is like a dream.
