We had her from a cat rescue place in Wales and they told us that people kept bringing her back because she's so needy and nervous and has various emotional problems. She's been our girl for over 5 years now and we couldn't imagine life without her. Bo must be your perfect cat, too ;-)

We don't yet *know* that they are a better family. Don't get me wrong, I like Anna and JT. But they haven't mentioned worming or neutering and they won't have him indoors, instead leaving him outside in all the bad weather where there are predators. How is that 'better'?

@MoominValley4463 ай бұрын
😀Bo / Beau sounds like a cat who thinks he is a dog - he probably needs a close relationship with his owners and lots of love and interaction and cuddles. Maybe the previous owner just wanted a cat that would stay at a distance and catch mice. Anna and JT, please let him inside to keep him safe from coyotes, especially at night. All you need is a litter tray placed discretely in one of the bathrooms or inside a cupboard, and then you won't need to worry about him. Cats are really clean animals, much cleaner than dogs, and they won't soil inside the house unless you provide them with a litter tray. Also, Bo must have had his vaccinations already so would be safe to have around. Please let him stay inside ❤🩹

An owner who would give him away 3 times before taking him for a drive into the countryside and 'accidentally' opening the door and let him out, is hardly the kind to have had him vaccinated. She hasn't even bothered to have him neutered. I know that animals in America aren't always treated properly but if he came to me, he'd be taken for a vet check, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and a flea regime sorted out for the warmer months and have his neuter booked in ASAP. I can only hope that JT and Anna do the right thing by him. Sadly, with animals, what you get for free is often not valued.
@HalfdeadRider3 ай бұрын
@@PhyllisGlassup2TheBrim Vaccinations after a certain age are not required, obviously the vet will tell you different, no financial incentive there lol. Also "a flea regime sorted", what! just buy flea treatments and give them yourself as needed, no need for a microchip either, he's going nowhere. But you are totally correct about the previous owner, I hope they never own animals again, same goes for those who didn't want him due to him being very happy and friendly, anyway I better go now, my cat Jimmy is shouting at me to go out for the night, he may come back in when I take my dog out before bed.

Please be careful when doing repairs yourself, it may affect your contract or guarantee on your home or potential compensation. Read your contract and consider speaking with a lawyer/solicitor as they will advise you on what steps to take next. There would also be a Lightening Rod nearby to capture any lightening strikes, these Lightening Rods attrack Lightening AWAY from your Home keeping it safe from a direct hit, which would blow your main electrical fuse thereby keeping your computer set up safe. As I said at the start I know we live in different Countries and things may be different.

The vet estimated him to be six years old and he lived to be twenty one. He was in great condition even then and had he not developed a tumour in his hip the vet reckoned he would have lived for years longer. He's still a legend in our street as he used to visit so many families including one that he only went to on Sundays when the lady's family visited for a roast dinner. 🐱

The external to internal pipes connectors should only have been done after sitting the housing unit and it was correctly levelled, and then the final plastering could be rendered and then painted over when dry. I bet that the floors are all slightly uneven and twisted from one end to the other because the house builders/installers barely could be bothered to do the work which their jobs require. If a cat is unhappy with their living arrangements they will upsticks and leave. I don't want to sound like I'm preaching, but I'd have him neutered ASAP, plus a good flea and worm treatment and give him a nice warm bed indoors. Just because he was outside when he was found doesn't mean he wants or needs to be. He can still go outside and he gets on with the dogs. If not then maybe he should be adopted out to a nice, warm family home. But that is only my opinion, please don't crucify me in the comments!
@BarenakedFi3 ай бұрын
@@cat-mum-Jules I do feel the same, though trying to remind myself that this is American farmland and I think there's possibly a very different culture around pets than in most of the UK (though it's likely British farmers have similar arrangements with cats). I know some farmers have a completely different relationship with working dogs than they do with their domestic pets. My last dog was a Border Collie from a farm in Wales, having failed as a sheepdog (too laid back and not interested in the sheep). He was emaciated, and the farmer demonstrated a complete lack of emotional connection to the working dogs (when they reached middle age, he simply got a couple of pups, let the mature dog train them up and sold the experienced dog - no retirement as a family pet, despite having pet dogs, too!). They weren't allowed indoors, and ours took a lot of persuasion & reassurance before he dared step over the threshold - there were many signs he'd been harshly treated, and it's a miracle, and testament to his gentle character, that he was such a sweet, calm boy. I know that's not universal. Our current dog is another failed sheepdog, and her farmer went to great lengths to find suitable new homes and was clearly more emotionally invested in their wellbeing. However, those farm dogs also seem to have lived in the barn, not indoors (though she bred them, so they may have been in the home in their very early weeks). I know farms and riding stables here sometimes have outdoor cats to manage mice etc, and I imagine this is more common in farming/rural communities in the USA, as they just have so much more space than we do, so living environments like this are quite normal - it's hard for us to contemplate, as the vast majority of us live in towns and cities with busy roads nearby - large tracts of land like JT and Anna have is just so alien to us - In the UK, if land is owned by someone, it's going to be working farmland or a housing estate! Anna clearly adored this cat from the outset, so not letting it in must be a cultural difference (as in USA farming/rural regions, rather than USA as a whole), as I don't think many Brits would be able to leave it outside (and, in most cases, there would be so many immediate hazards in doing so). So yes, I'd love to see them let Bo live indoors (at night, at least - he seems happy roaming outside in the day and when he has company out there). I'm shocked so many previous owners rejected this cat, he's adorable and so friendly. I'm assuming they just wanted it as a farm cat, not for affection/company.

Each drop of water hit the electric wiring of the light fitting and switched the light on and then off. I called them to come down and see what was happening, saying that's not safe. Get this, he stood on a chair and took out the light-bulb and said it would be fine now until the electrician could come look at it in the morning! I kid you not. I made him go and turn the power off to the circuit. Ok we had no overhead lighting but there was no water hitting live wires. I'm so glad you've taken Bo in. Bo perfectly represents the old saying …. You don’t own a cat, a cat owns you. He simply annoyed everyone on purpose waiting for his humans to arrive. Congrats on being chosen by such a beautiful boy ❤ That pipe was bad! For those who don’t know where the pipe comes through underneath it passes through the winterisation layer… that water can be saturating the packing of the winterisation material and if JT hadn’t found it that could have led to damp floors throughout or worse. I had one of these homes built in the UK and it came with a multitude of issues as well. I hope all if the problems get resolved for them soon.

@@Zippy66 I believe there a plaster coating on their walls, during transportation the house would have bumped and jostled leading to cracks. He spoke about having to have the walls mudded so just a plaster coat. The outside can be scratched during transportation as well. I know when I received my own there were areas scraped and scratched. I had a list of things needing fixed as well when mine arrived but like JT it was quicker to do myself..well get someone local to do it. I did however make sure to get a cheque to cover the cost of repairs. Although there were many teething problems I loved my house and lived very happily in it for 5 years before having to move for my husbands work.
@Zippy663 ай бұрын
@@Daisy-Daisy0512I thought that's what it might be, but I'd never heard the term "mudding". Won't JT doing these works invalidate stuff and shouldn't it be up to the people who supply the house to fix the problems? Also, why do they not level the ground first and why are there no proper concrete foundations? (Sorry, but no idea how these properties work).
@Daisy-Daisy05123 ай бұрын
@@Zippy66 JT from what I saw only did done small cracks on a couple of walls nothing major. The pipes etc he had the house builders coming to fix those and the major cracks. I doubt he's done anything that invalidates the company's responsibilities. It's basically like having an elevated static mobile home here in the UK. As for ground work I've no idea, we levelled our ground. My assumption is that they levelled it as far as possible but probably only to give a base where the wheels and legs sit. Surrounding areas wouldn't be a priority and with the weather the ground gets messed up with vehicles etc making it difficult to keep flat
@MoominValley4463 ай бұрын
JT sorry to hear you have had problems with the contractors. Regarding the mud, how about adding an enclosed porch to the outside of one of the external doors? Also the porch door could have a cat flap added!!!😸 You should do a JT Reacts video on British porches and conservatories 😉😆

I'm finding it fascinating to observe a lifestyle that's so different from the UK - I don't think many of us could imagine having such an enormous amount of land - and there's such a demand for homes (and they're so expensive) that anyone who did own such a large area & wanted to live on it would more than likely be parcelling off a small plot for themselves and selling the rest for housing development (or doing it themselves if they had the money), as it would fit a fairly large estate of lots of small houses with tiny gardens worth many millions combined. We also only generally see pre-made buildings like this in holiday parks (though I notice the humidity readings are dramatically lower than mine/ours, so that might explain a lot). While I sit in my damp house listening to the constant traffic outside, I do envy you this space and the peace & tranquillity it offers. I'm fascinated to know if you have any plans for the open space around the house.

The story with Bo just means that he was probably destined to be with you - cats choose their owners, full stop. We had one cat, that followed a neighbour; she wasn't a cat lady but she knew we had cats. She knocked on our door, and literally as she was explaining, the cat, Bertie, walked in past my (now ex-) wife and put himself on the sofa. He just sat there and purred until the other two, Pebbles and Ebony, came up too look and said "hey, another cat. Cool". We don't choose the cat.

Hi! What you could do to make it look better is use a line of 4 to 8inch cobbles (stones or rocks to you). That would put a barrier to your critters from getting underneath and causing a nuisance like rats or raccoons. Ok for rabbits they’d be a secondary source of food. (Ha!) you may need to bed them in with some water proofed mortar to seal from below but it would be stable and give some permanence to the barrier. Good luck anyway.

Lovely to see you working together ❤ it's hubs and I do things. I'm sorry you are still having a few problems at the moment... hopefully not for much longer. We are starting our kitchen next week 🥺❤

JT, I really wanted that great big hay bale to roll down the hill when you took it off the truck.. it would have been hilarious for us, but guess it wouldn’t be so funny for you! 😂😂🫶😜

From AR via CA. Watch you all the time. Really glad I watched this episode because I have been researching prefab houses. Will probably just build. Does doing work yourself void any warranty?Good luck.

Happens a lot to all 'new builds'. They take a little time to rest. You'll always get cracks showing. When we had a house fire in our 200 year old home they stripped everything back to bare brick. Rendered/plastered/painted. Within 6 months cracks appeared. You are in the open. Hot summers, cold winters. Expands/contracts.

Not a good sign when contractors do a shoddy job get paid and then live it up in Vegas! Red flag?
