We Got Kicked Out Of A Meat Festival For Serving Vegan Chicken

We cooked vegan meat and served it to the public… at London’s biggest meat festival. The only problem? We weren’t invited.
We like to take things to the next level at BOSH!, so we broke into Meatopia and served up vegan recipes to show people that vegan chicken can be just as good as the real thing.

@@MrJustforkicks I do not mean to offend you, but your post is very disingenuous. Unless you were born Hindu, more than likely you were a meat eater, when you were younger. As we grow older, many of us realize that we do not like killing animals and we decide to become vegetarians or vegans. So were you kind before you became a vegan? It does not mean people are kind or unkind, it they are carnivorous, they just have not been inspired to stop eating meat.

Things have changed a lot in the last 7 years. 15 years ago, I made the most wonderful "Stedda' Chicken Salad" (100% vegan). I started at a farmers market in Los Angeles. I would offer this vegan / vegetarian , made 100% from plants, and NO ONE was tasting it. just got these disgusted-looking faces. I began to offer people, "Free samples!" They said, "What are you giving to taste?" I'd ask, "Do you like chicken salad?" They'd often say, "I LOVE chicken salad!" But even if they say "I don't like chicken salad", I still say, "Try this and tell me what you think." they would then always say, "Oh my gosh, this is wonderful!" I would then do the same with the Eggplant Parmesan and Lasagna, etc., always getting the most wonderful comments. I'd then say, "Oh, I forgot to mention-everything you've eaten was 100% vegan-no meat, dairy or eggs." they didn't look at me in disbelief and say, "Except for the chicken, duh!" to which I'd say, " that wasn't chicken; it was chickpeas." Then they'd say, " but you used ricotta in the Eggplant Parmesan!" and I'd say, "That was tofu."

Plant based options are simply added to the existing menu, not replacing it, because eateries, etc, know they can cash in on the vegan dummies.

@@evilsbrother8247 Eateries generally want to make as much money as possible. Vegans and vegetarians aren't the only ones choosing the plant based options. More and more people are significantly reducing animal products for the environment. Many of them will later go vegan.

How does this sound... all vegans should have a 10% caveat placed on their properties value payable at the beginning of each financial year to animal sanctuaries and also a 10 % extra charge on their rates and registration also payable annually to animal sanctuaries. That way, the sanctuaries can be fully stocked with a wide variety of meat animals just incase the theres a shortage at the shops then we can just go and raid a sanctuary for our meat and dairy needs. How does that sound? Or are you just one of these cyber vegans who likes to gob off on social media thinking that alone grants you an upgrade to your moral reputation?

Hey, this is great stuff but was wondering if you guys could get into serious trouble if someone with allergies to certain ingredients in your vegan food consumes it thinking it's safe because they just think it's breaded chicken and won't even ask for allergens before eating it? I am asking it from a totally kind place and because it's one thing getting thrown out from entering a festival without a legitimate pass and a totally different thing if someone has a bad allergic reaction and they may even file a lawsuit? Then you might do more harm than good to your cause if that gets into the media? Not to mention the suffering of the person with the allergies, which can be serious in some cases, unfortunately. (And before I get trolled by comments here, I fully support the vegan lifestyle, hence my concern about the ethical implications of tricking people into eating something that might be potentially dangerous to them. And I am aware how dangerous/unhealthy meat is, that's not the point here, my point is about allergens.)

Certainly in Scotland you have to have allergy food sheets/ clearly advertised allergen information available to customers when serving food in public places. It has been legislation in place for last few years now; which is a good thing. Definitely helpful to put peoples minds at rest. 😅

This is wrong for two reasons: a.) It assumes falsely that animal sanctuaries are profit driven and earn a great deal of money, like a racket, which is almost the exact opposite of the reality, & b.) It totally misunderstands the whole point of veganism, which is animal liberation; we are all working toward a day when animal sanctuaries _are not longer necessary_ because society has evolved beyond animal exploitation.

Well this mostly proves random people can sneak into an event and feed people food under false pretenses. With the right marketing I'm sure you could get a proper booth at one of these events. That way the sanctuaries can be fully stocked with a variety of meat animals if the shops ever run out of stock.
