The times when they notched would have messed up your radar but because of the new radar changes, your radar was in trk aut and it switched to normal trk which held the lock in the notched positon in widh pd hdn would not have

Usually with the PD HDN mode on radars they track in side aspect if you keep your nose pointed in front of the locked target to keep them closing toward you.

If you go high altitude the auto track system will change from TRK PD to TRK while having no problem hitting the target if they does not chaff (It will still attempt to change at low altitude but cannot keep lock because of ground clutter). As you can see the radar change its track type, but because you are high, the normal track mode keeps tracking and hits.

BTW I have no idea whether it is just me or it actually is like this, the AIM-7F/M feels like having a absolute genius counter-chaff seeker. Even when my radar locks to chaff for a good 1-2 seconds, the missile still curves in no problem from any aspect. (I've not done this that often, but before they give the auto track system, my AIM-7F/M have like 17 kill out of about 25 launch using TRK, and most misses are because of ground clutter)

@@kiki7170 Sparrows use PD seekers so they will completely ignore chaff, but they can be notched and will sometimes go after the wrong target if it is faster.

The radar automatically switches out of PD mode if the enemy is about to notch you, or sometimes it just switches out of PD at random and then chases chaff all day.

At 8 min when you say you're surprise it hasn't been notched by now, your radar switched from TRK PD HDN to TRK automatically. I think they might have soft-reverted that for the F-14 where you can manually switch but that's always been the workaround. Just have to hope they don't chaff.

Not a question but just wanted to let you know I grinded the whole china tree awhile back just for the j7e after all the clout you put on it if you are skilled pilot.... needless to say that is the best dogfighter besides the Gripen in the game. I have done countless 1v1's in servers even against f15's and 16's but they still didnt stand a chance. The ability you showed me prior that you can toggle the flaps at high speed is still one of the most broken mechanics in the game. Bless you, people think im a goat or some shit but its lowkey cause of you thank you.

Your problem with ir missiles comes from the fact that its countermeasures are located at the bottom of the aircraft, while on most planes it is at the top. So when you are evading a fox2 missile you are pulling to position it to the top side of the tomcat, and the missile doesn't see flares until the last couple hundreds of meters. It's better to keep the missile straight at your six and pull some light maneuvers

You're talking about the F14A matchmaking which is very often in its favor while I too often see F14B players end up in rank 7 games with 11.0... There is clearly a problem with the matchmaking or there is an sbmm based on the skills of the aircraft and on the player's stats. Because seeing 1 or 2 F14B in tier 7 games is not normal. If I play the F14B, I always end up with the best of the best, so SU27, Mig29, F16Cs and Mirage 4000. And I'm talking about a complete F14B, not stock...

Sooooo, im seing that Gaijin has still yet to fix the main major problem....multipathing. For any who dont know, multipathing is the buzzword around the WT air community that both explains and defends our radar missiles hitting the ground more than the target. Basically its ground clutter, aka something that existed in lesser radars that wrre outfitted on 3rd gen aircraft such Mig-23 and F-4 that for some reason is still being modelled in on the 4th gen aircrafts like the Mig-29 and F-16. Now multipathing bugs every radar missile, some more than others depending on radar and missile. Thing is....this doesnt exist in even the earliest 4th gen aircrafts irl. Aircrafts like the F-14A, F-15A, F-16A, Mig-29 9-12, Su-27, Mirage 2k, JAS39A, etc all never had this problem. It in fact was so little of a problem that suddenly missile and radar effectiveness went from 40-60% all the way up to 80-85% just in between the switch to the next gen. Now this plagues the F-14 the worst. The F-14 irl was a monster in the skies due to its high speeds and more specifically its bvr capabilities. The Aim-54 could be fire 10-15nm further than even the current Aim-120C effectivly with a high chance of hitting. Look at Gaijin's implementation of it....yeah its not even close. The thing struggles on 25nm shots, will hit the ground like any other radar missile in the game, and doesnt pull the correct amount if G's its irl counterpart could. To add on top of this that the F-14 remains the worst 1-circle and 2-circle fighter compared to what its up against along with no IRCCM missile like its capable of irl and a not so great radar compared to others like the F-15, F-16, Mig-29SMT, and Su-27 when it should have one of the best radars, yiu quickly see it is one of if not the worst top tier aircraft (new Su-25 and F-20 might tie or beat it in that title). The only thing the F-14 has truly iver most other aircraft is energy retention (Mig-29 and F-16 are better in that category, and the F-15 and Su-27 can gain energy faster to substitue for poor energy retention). Lets also not forget that the F-14 has been nerfed numerous times since its introduction into WT and only now is it getting buffs....that still dont solve its main problem. Now as much as this comment has been about how screwed the F-14 is while in the state it is in, the multipathing issue plagues every 4th gen aircraft. Irl missiles that we are using dont hit the ground when used by 4th gen aircraft, no they hit their targets. Be it American, Soviet, Chinese, Sweddish, French, ect.

Ive been loving the F-14A every since the slight br decompression we got too, but the heat signature is still a problem frl. You're kinda forced to maintain a sizeable distance between you and them rear aspect, which fortunately sometimes isnt hard with how much misplay war thunder players make, especially the low level premium plebs lol
