I'm in the rainiest part of Canada(I wish we had your more stringent rules) but my first thought was it must not rain there much because I would never ever chose to have two roofs meet like that, water will work its' way at the seam where I live(beside a temperate rainforest).

not being a smart-ass, but this is a learning opportunity that is not a ridge beam that is a ridge board.. beams are structural and transfer their load down to the foundation. Boards are not structural and don't carry any weight down to the structure and rely on things like your top plate to carry the weight down through your walls. Love the videos guys!

Man, about 15 years ago, I added a massive addition (about 1000sq.ft. to a 910sq.ft. house) - raised the roof and everything. I had to go on a business trip between getting the trusses up and getting the sheeting/shingles on. My wife called me while I was out of town: "It's raining in the bedroom!". She was like 8mos pregnant and supposed to be on bedrest... 0/10 do not recommend.
