There’s a huge difference between football and bull riding. Just as there is a big difference between helping your son become a rodeo star and helping your son become a brain surgeon. At seven years old, a child is unable to process just how dire the consequences of one bad ride could be. This is why children need parents to guide them and help them see the difference between safe and unsafe activities. Given that parents are supposed to keep their children safe and discourage risky, dangerous activities, it makes sense that these parents are being criticized for not only allowing their son, but also encouraging their son to put himself in harm’s way. If your son wanted to be the next Evel Knievel, would you let him attempt to jump over busses on a motorcycle too?

@@courtneyd5187 I'll explain, as I am around rodeo. These animals are bred specifically for this purpose. The calves that they use for roping are the toughest calves in the country. Not to mention rodeo livestock are the best treated livestock ever. Did you know that, contrary to popular belief, rodeo broncos only buck if they are happy? Sick/injured/ neglected/abused livestock refuse to preform. Also, rodeo livestock get injured way less than humans that play sports. The injury rate of rodeo animals is astronomically low. Only 0.05% of animals will ever have injuries (Obviously does not include natural illness). That means that one in 5,000 animals will get injured in their whole career. Rodeo riders get injured way more times than that. Almost 25% of tie down ropers will get injured during their careers! And over 90% of bull riders will have injuries! Nowadays, there are over 60 rules and regulations regarding humane animal care both in and out of the arena! I hope this clears up any concerns about animal welfare in rodeos! Here is a link to the PRCA's livestock rules if you want to further investigate: www.prorodeo.com/prorodeo/livestock

@@courtneyd5187 everything that you just told me right now is your opinion; and you know what they say about opinions. You do not own ANY of the animals. You are neither a stock contractor nor are you a cowboy/contestant. You are basing your OPINION on your limited experience. You are closed off to any other opinions or facts-- you are allowing your ignorance and bias to color your OPINION. That's too bad; but not Much of a revelation. People like you are everywhere; voicing your OPINIONS on subjects that you know nothing about. You show the world your ignorance; you revel in your stupidity! And so does every stupid animal rights organization out there that thinks rodeo is nothing but animal cruelty!

@@pitgroove.37_66 I appreciate the reply and using a source for your information. I don't appreciate you telling people they don't know what they are talking about. I get that you are a fan of rodeos, as I can see your multiple videos from rodeos in Idaho that you've attended. I am a certified, AZA, zookeeper, and my niche specialty is in livestock and mammals. I grew up on a farm with livestock, and currently care for exotic livestock. My comments regarding animals, especially livestock, aren't opinions. They are facts that you are receiving from a professional. Rodeos can present catastrophic safety risks for both animals and human participants. You can't speak for every rodeo and how they operate. Hopefully the ones in Idaho don't operate with the same regulations as some other states. The welfare of the animals completely depends on the individual state. Louisiana and Florida have several counties and cities that ban rodeos that use practices harmful to the animals. Chino Hills, Irvine, Laguna Woods, and Pasadena, California ban rodeos entirely. When animal regulations aren't considered, you run into issues like animals being injured in bucking events, horses and bulls breaking their legs and injuries to the skin are common from bucking straps. They receive bite wounds from other horses; kick wounds from over-crowded corrals; and tears and abrasions as a result of their contact with trailers and chutes. If the rodeo is following the 60+ guidelines that the PRCA placed, then there is definitely less safety risks to be concerned about. I hope this helps to add clarity to my comments, and I'm hoping not to see anymore comments from you stating that people don't know what they are talking about just because they have concern for the animals wellbeing that are forced to participate. If those kind of comments bother you that much, then I would suggest replying in a kinder way, just like you did with your first response to me. You are way more likely to sway the opinions of others if you approach them with kindness.

I mean let’s be honest, in terms of possible serious injury, it’s not much worse than serious competitive gymnastics, figure skating, “traditional” horseback riding with jumps and stuff. The only difference is that we don’t usually see how dangerous those things are, bc we only see the one performance at a time, and the goal there is perfection, so it’s much more rare to actually witness. Olympic gymnasts are often 15 or 16; if you think they weren’t doing things that risked a broken neck by 8, you don’t know anything about gymnastics. And I’m sure there’s a lot of precaution and safety training with techniques and padding etc that we don’t see going into the finished product with rodeo training as well

I see an older man influencing the younger woman he has a child with, HOWEVER if this is what the family wants then it's their decision. It's the same as putting your kid in hockey, football, MMA...etc. Hell look what happened to thousands of young boys in Boy Scouts!
@tangosmombell99013 жыл бұрын
Hockey pucks don't break loose, trample you and then gore you with their horns. Not an accurate comparison. I worked for an animal sanctuary for 8 years and kids have no business dealing with dangerous animals in this manner. They're too unpredictable.
@daniellenichols97573 жыл бұрын
@@tangosmombell9901 well I can tell you that a good friend of mine has been in riding barrel horses and bulls her whole life since SHE was six and my sons have suffered FAR more injuries while participating in MMA and football. I disagree on every level!!
@tangosmombell99013 жыл бұрын
@@daniellenichols9757 And I've seen a chest caved on a real live human being from a hoof. Again, sports injuries cannot be compared to injuries from living, breathing animals that have hooves, horns and teeth. Footballs don't escape. Baseball bats don't get frightened and kick. Letting a seven year old child work with livestock in this manner is child endangerment. Seven years old... think about that for a minute. When's the last time a Peewee football player got his leg shattered?
@daniellenichols97573 жыл бұрын
@@tangosmombell9901 if it was child endangerment they would have already opened a case and taken their child PERIOD. Ice skates gash...baseballs cave skulls along with bats. You have you experiences and I have mine. They CLEARLY have their kid so that's that.
