Thank you for sharing your experience! I am also changing my career completely( cs to psychology) and enrolled in a masters program in a different country... alongside native people... with many years of prior experience. I could definitely use your advice on organizing this crazy todo list. Good luck!!! Lets do this!!!

It's so refreshing hearing you talk about women in tech (including yourself now :) I study engineering (she/her) and the role model thing is such a huge thing. As a queer person I know how much rolemodels can affect the way you perceive yourself and your goals and it's so true that there are so little rolemodels in tech. So thanks for sharing your thoughts and your journey being open as to how you create and learn new things from one queer tech to another x

The passion-knowledge deficit you acknowledged at the beginning of the vid hits hard right now, i am 1 month into starting a phd and i feel constantly surrounded by people who are moving at 100 mph and i have no idea what's going on 🥲 watching you start from 'scratch' and how you're dealing with new challenges is very motivational, we got this !! 😩✊

Oh hey, fellow lady in tech! I became a Project Manager at the age of 23 (I'm now 26) for an e-comm agency and it's genuinely been an absolute whirlwind so far. I went from knowing absolutely nothing about code and design - so now being able to translate technical jargon in to everyday talk. Just in these short 3 years in tech, I have learnt a ridiculous amount. I genuinely cannot wait to see where I am in another 3 years to see how much I have developed. I've been using Notion as part of my personal tech stack for around a year now, it's absolutely fantastic for tracking my own personal goals, and organising myself at work. 10/10 would recommend! I can't wait to see and hear you thrive, Eve! Best of luck on your new adventure. Looks as though you're already on a roll

Okay it is so crazy to see you move in to the field of tech!! Ive been watching you since my first year in uni and now im in my first year of a masters in computer science. Im cheering for you and I know you will love the switch. I also wanted to say that this field can sometimes feel overwhelming, but just see it through! I never thought I would be able to code a proper program in the beginning but here I am 4 years later still learning. xx

I’m currently working as one at a tech company and coding is definitely not needed (but some knowledge on it would help). She's back! I've considered moving into tech (from humanities) so your move is actually weirdly helpful for me. I've also resisted getting Notion for ages despite every influencer pushing it but I might reconsider now (queue spending hours creating a template instead of writing my research paper). Edit: I also figured out I was bi a short while before you did your coming out video so thanks for always being weirdly topical to whatever my brain is occupied with, haha Edit 2: the hair!!

Your videos are just top tier quality and knowing you're also moving into a different career space feels inspiring for me that I can do it to (I'll probably copy your notion template and now I'll finally make a notion). Thank you so much for your videos

Oh my gosh welcome to tech!! I transitioned from electrical engineering in college to cloud security within a few years and even that was a big shift. Can't imagine how different the transition from law into tech is, but hey I'm sure the fresh content to learn is exciting! :) One thing to note is that there are usually women's groups for each sub-field of tech, so for cybersecurity there's WiCyS (Women in Cybersecurity), WISP (Women in Security and Privacy), WSC (Women's Society of Cyberjutsu) and a few others that I'm probably missing. Those groups are INCREDIBLE for helping you grow and network in your niche space.

Eve, you probably won't see this but in case you do, I completely agree with needing good role models in life, and I just wanted to say that you are one of mine! I've loved watching your videos since you were first year at Bristol, and being the oldest sibling sometimes it's been difficult knowing how to navigate various aspects of life, from moving to uni to choosing a career path (and then changing my mind, however many times I need to and that being okay) to understanding and embracing my sexuality - your videos have always been both comforting and inspiring for me, and I wanted you to know how much of a positive impact your content has had on my life. Huge good luck with your new role, you're going to smash it!

I relate to being in another field but being intrigued by computer science (although my field is not too far away and getting closer and closer). I'm a student of library and information science and currently doing an internship at a big academic library (in Germany, I'm German). I've been there for nearly 4 months and have not once touched a book, because I'm working in a project with the metadata management team. It's really fun and I'm learning a lot. In these nearly 4 months I learned the basics of the Linux command line, wrote a bash script, learned to use Regular Expressions, the basics of xpath and xquery and a lot more. Before that I already knew a little bit of SQL, but that was the extent of my IT experience. The project team is great, it's only 5 people, 4 of whom are women, the project lead is a women in her 50s, the project manager/coordinator is a women the same age as me (26) and the other 3 are also still under 40. They all know their stuff so well and are so willing to share their knowledge. I'm always amazed how wide the range of library work can be.

I'm an English Philolgy graduate with a masters in Computational Linguistics, trying to make it into the industry. I've only been looking for jobs for a couple of months, but trying to make it into the tech industry without a technical background is being a challenge. I got a BA in English Lit & Linguistics and then I kind of didn't know what to do with it and then I stumbled upon a Master's degree in Computational Linguistics. I never thought I'd end up in tech, but now, here I am. It's so important to not stunt your own growth by telling yourself limiting narratives about who you are / what you can and can't do!

as someone who studied film/media in the US and UK but ended up in the tech industry, just know that you'll get used to it :) tech is so fast-paced and the workflows and processes are so different than what you'll be used to. on the flip side, you learn a lot more in a shorter amount of time and the people who work in tech are some of the brightest, most intelligent humans ever so I guarantee you will gain so much knowledge not only in your job but tech and life in general. Congrats for following your passions, I'm sincerely very excited for this new chapter in your life and thank you for sharing it with us!!

Very interesting video Eve. Like the way you tied your day into your specific Notion points. Just as an aside: CS50 is a great course. My eldest did it a few years back and has hoped to do CS and Philosophy like Mani , though perhaps not at Oxford as it is vitally important to understand the humanity (ies) in computer science (found your Scratch code run hilarious) , and my youngest has done a lot of events with Amazon Coding, Girls Into Coding, Scratch and others and chose, as an extracurricular, Robotics and Coding this year yet the passion subject is drama. It is to society’s benefit that the arts and humanities are heavily represented in the sciences as well or else they serve no real purpose or benefit be it to humankind, animal kind, plant kind or otherwise. Lovely video Eve. Hope you are enjoying where you are right now. 🤗 🌹 and the kiddos
