I feel that Pearl should’ve just gone up and given Garnet an apology from the start, giving her space and time. But I get why she didn't. It’s fascinating to see how different people operate because of their experiences. I think because Pearl was in service of Rose for so long that she thinks the best way to earn anything is by doing things and that will make it better. But Garnet needs things more up front. This is the kind of communication issue I see with people in real life where their clashing personalities can make it hard to resolve things.

The episodes from Cry For Help through Friend Ship were all released one per day from a Monday to a Friday as part of the third "Stevenbomb". The first was Rose's Scabbard, The Message, Political Power, The Return + Jail Break (released together on the Thursday), Full Disclosure (despite this episode being the start of the next season). The second was Sworn to the Sword, RT/CS, Keeping It Together, We Need to Talk and Chille Tid. This third Stevenbomb is far more notable than the first two (which I had to look up) because it's the first time the set of five episodes released in this manner were clearly written with a miniarc structure in mind. It's also the first to have a proper subtitle: the Week of Sardonyx. Cry For Help sets up the conflict. Keystone Motel, Onion Friend and Historical Friction show us how respectively Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl cope with it and how Steven helps them individually. Then Friend Ship resolves it properly. (It also has a special place in my heart for being the first bit of SU to come out after I caught up.)

Just regarding the fusion thing, there's not anything still to reveal really, it's just that Garnet is a fusion all the time. Most gems only fuse when the situation calls for it (like Opal or Sardonyx), but Garnet CHOOSES to be fused all the time, because of how much Ruby and Sapphire mean to each other. Garnet's very existence is a testament to their love for each other. Hence, she / they (Ruby and Sapphire) took it REALLY seriously when Pearl was basically just exploiting them for the ability to fuse and nothing more, taking advantage of them for her own sake. That's why they were so upset, because fusion is EVERYTHING to them. Regarding the dance itself, it mostly just requires you be 'in sync' together, the dance is just to help that along and get the two of you to the same 'rhythm', so to speak. So it's possible Pearl and Garnet may not have actually NEEDED to dance that time.

21:39 Simple. Gems happen to be projected by their actual stone. These projections are special as they are actually “heavy” forms of light, which have generated mass. While this mass is quite durable, Gems may have to dissipate the form, so that they can recover within their own gemstone. This unfortunately makes them vulnerable to future harm, or encapsulation (like Lapis and the mirror). At this, if the stone is shattered, it’s basically death to its gem. That’s how they can be able to fuse in such tight spaces. This short describes it well!: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJy8ZauMibuHi7Mfeature=shared

Amethyst has such an arc in this show; starting out as the devil-may-care slovenly weirdo and slowly maturing as she overcomes challenges both internal and external. Compare what you see now to what she was in early Season 1! Some characters learn things, some characters let things go, but generally their core characterization barely shifts. I would say that Amethyst is second only to Stephen in terms of character growth, and because she isn't as powerful as Garnet or involved in the plot as Pearl, this often gets overlooked. Amethyst has layers. Like a wee little purple ogre.

Regarding pearl and garnet fusing in the small space. All the dancing rly achieves is getting the gems in sync with each other so they can become one. But if the gems r already in sync enough then they dont need to dance. Thats y the closer 2 gems r, the easier and quicker they can fuse. Like remember opal? Amythest and pearl still couldnt fuse even after dancing and trying to sync. But as soon as steven was in trouble, they fused instantly (presumably) and could hold it together for a while.
@LimeG0ds5 күн бұрын

I'm just a pearl, I need someone to tell me what to do. Honestly this did throw me off the first time, forgetting the kindergarten with the numerous holes, usually when you have a show about a small group of non-humans, even if they are from space you generally only got one character per something if there was a theme, like even Dinosaucers or Thundercats, you didn't have like multiple sauropods or multiple tigers, even if story wise it would make sense, they kept it simple so as not to confuse the child audience. Gem wise, well jewelry wise, pearls are usually an accent, you either get a bunch of pearls such as a necklace or they are accenting another gem on a ring or pendant for example.

Dancing isn't necessary for fusion. It's just the easiest way to get in sync. Characters who are already on the same wavelength don't need to dance. Both times we've seen Ruby and Sapphire fuse up to this point, they were just hugging. Sure, they did a little spin the first time when they got back together on the ship, but when they fused at the motel, they were basically just kissing. If you remember the first time they showed Perl and Amethyst trying to fuse in Giant Woman, they were dancing in totally different styles and completely out of sync so it wasn't working.

I do love how you really start to see Amethysts maturity blossoming in these episodes. She goes from feeling bad about being left out of the fusion to understanding Pearl's motivation and defending her. Then, she seeks out Vidalia and talks through her problems. And while it was obvious how much Pearl was screwing up in this episode, Garnet was too. She was too angry to deal with Pearl effectively or even avoid being tripped up by her trying too hard, which should have been easy for her. Both of them were fumbling all over the place, and the whole time Steven is protecting the team and Amethyst is protecting him. It's the really subtle storytelling that you don't notice until a few watch-throughs that I absolutely love about this show.

Had a little laugh when you called the episode "Friend (space)ship" of how unknowingly right you were.

As an American, i take pride in my terrible excuse for a Scottish accent. Cuz some people get good at using it for deception or performance, sure. But ive mastered using mine as a source of psychic damage.

Spoiler: Steven actually fuses with Lion. His name is Liven, and it always reminds me of Sir Patrick Delaney-Podmore, the head of the Headless Hunt in Harry Potter. When he sees Harry, Ron, and Hermione at Nearly-Headless Nick's deathday party, he says, "Live 'uns!"

Peridot is my absolute favorite from this show, she's very enjoyable for sure and I'm excited for you to see more of her!

Maybe the real friends were the ships we made along the way. Also a rather dark detail, look where Pearl strikes her spear on the projection of Peridot. She wasn't going to poof Peridot, but in her desperation was aiming to outright shatter her.

Amethyst can feel other people's emotions which can effect her too. Whenever there is tension between people around her, her mood will go down aswel. She hates seeing the people she cares about upset with eachother. I think it's a cool part of her character that you don't realize or see often

peridot is such a fun villain, though it's a shame about how she literally killed all of the crystal gems and blew up the earth in the finale. like it can be fun when a joke villain becomes a serious threat but that just felt like it was for shock value

The painting shown way back in So Many Birthdays implies that Rose Quartz and GAP had interactions with human seagoing folk who happen to stumble upon the vicinity of the Crystal Temple. There's also the sailor's chest that's preserved in Lion's pocket dimension. Prepare for a big dump of Gem lore to close out this season, that should answer a lot of questions.

Little did the Crystal Gems realize that the foot they captured would mutate into a monster right in their home base.
