I watched several later episodes a couple years ago just before Chef discontinued them so decided to come back to the beginning. I understand there are 260 episodes, so one a day will get me through them in less than a year (with some days off for good behavior!

❤Chef AJ❤ I have been watching your KZbin videos for about 3 weeks and can’t get enough of them. I started eating your way yesterday except not quite as much. I love it! I went to the market this morning and was craving jalapeño chips. I resisted and walked out the door. I came home and made a huge salad and sliced up a left over baked potato and air-fried it for a few minutes and wahla the chip craving was satisfied! That was my breakfast at 12 noon. So I am writing to thank you for what you are doing. I know you don’t like telling us what you eat, but trust me it gives us ( who never ate this many veggies before) lots of great ideas. Ultimately our taste buds will tell us if we like it enough to continue and I am loving l it. I have about 80 lbs to lose and I am gonna try and picture your face every time I go to the market, lol. Thanks again.

Chef AJ, I'd just like to let you know that though I tried to become vegan last year, but it wasn't until I started watching your videos and teleclasses/interviews with all the brilliant doctors that I could stay compliant with a vegan diet, and now an SOS free vegan diet! I've never had a health or weight issue, but I see my mum suffering from cancer and your videos are what comfort me when I feel so stressed that I want to turn to my "comfort" foods. I just restarted watching from episode 1, while waiting for this week's Weight Loss Wednesday. Thank you Chef AJ. My dream is to meet you all one day. P.s. I've been watching all the way from South Korea :) So greetings from this end of the world!

Chef AJ, what are your thoughts on eating a lot of dried dates for weight loss? Or very sweet fruit ? Many high fruit eaters say that you can eat UNlimited amounts of those and loose weight, as long as you eat them raw. thank you. They also claim that potatoes cause weight gain because it is starch. Thanks
@CHEFAJ5 жыл бұрын
Caloric density. Potatoes less than 400 calories per pound, dates, 1,300. Potatoes make you thin.

All this information is min n blowing to me. In my late teens I started getting a horrible rash on my chin and around my nose. I realized at 21 that I was allergic to lactose which was hard because all my mother knew how to cook was Velveeta and hamburger. During my third pregnancy I began having horrible stomach issues (I've had mega doses of antibiotics from years of tonsil infections). The doctor put me on a fat free diet because I had gallstones! I weighed 215 at 5'3"and 3 months pregnant. The next 6 months were a real drag. I ate from sun up to sun down. No dairy, no oil, no meat except for a 3 x 1 inch piece of fish a day. Everything else was fruit, veg and grains. I wish I had like beans then! I gained 20 lbs during that pregnancy. She weighed 8lbs 8oz buti was down to 160 lbs 2 weeks after birth. I wish I had understood how all this worked. I'm 53 now, 210 lbs and I'm back to the diet. Who knew this was the answer to all my health problems.

Still struggling though! I lost 40 lb my first 15 weeks on Starch Solution. But the last 11 weeks I've gained back 14 lb. I'm still down 26 lb, but my appetite is no longer under control and I've been overeating. I'm going to try some of the hints you mentioned, like avoiding flour (udon) and sugar and see if that helps!
@CHEFAJ8 жыл бұрын
Oh no! Flour and sugar are drugs, not food and good for weight gain, not weight loss They are 1,500 and 1,800 calories per pound respectively. Have you considered UWL?
@DougLerner8 жыл бұрын
I was hoping to avoid that because I feel I was down that road with the Ornish heart-disease reversal program a few years ago, where I lost 100+ lb and then regained more than half of that and so cut way back on brown rice, which I felt were "wasted calories". But what was left didn't satisfy so I strayed. I was hoping that the "starch solution" was the solution, and at first I thought it was, but I'm feeling more and more that the real starch solution is "avoiding starches." But that's so hard to do. But maybe if I completely avoid flour and sugar that will help. I hope.

I love how our bodies lets us know when something isn’t right. A few weeks ago I ate a meal a friend had made for me (she’s trying to transition to wfpb sos free) and was so excited to have me try this recipe she found and made out. She told me she did add about 1/4 of a tsp of salt to the whole recipe which was a large batch because she’s slowly lowering her salt intake until she fells she doesn’t need it any more. I was just like okay, 1/4 of a tsp in this whole recipe which served probably 6-8 2 cup portions so I’m like okay not too much salt, I WILL survive. lol Well, about 4 hours later I go to take my baby dog out to potty and go to slip on my sandals and they were so tight I could barely get them on! I was so swollen and bloated from just that small amount of salt in the food.

i have been watching your videos for about a month, got my Insta pot last week. eating about 95 % right. I have notice some talk about using tortillas and pita pockets but sounds like you do not use wheat at all. is that because of a trigger, condition or ?????
@CHEFAJ7 жыл бұрын
I do not recommend bread or flour products, even if gluten free, for people who wish to lose weight or are food addiction. Corn tortillas are not horrible but with the water removed they are 1,000 calories per pound as opposed to WHOLE corn which is only 500 calories per pound.

The questions: 0:58 How do you diagnose food addiction? (Food Addict- the label) 7:10 What about salt? (Tiramisu story) 35:00 Story of Dr Goldhamer and the funny apron/bakery. 38:08 How do you stay motivated to stay compliant? 43:50 How can someone try to go vegan and lose weight, would they do calorie counting?

I don't get why popcorn is bad at around 30 calories per cup of air popped. Nobody is going to eat a pound of kernels! When I have the munchies it's my go-to for a quick crunchy snack.
@CHEFAJ8 жыл бұрын
It's not bad, it is just calorically dense at 1,800 calories per pound whereas corn is only 500 calories per pound. It is not unhealthy but horrible for weight loss, as is snacking in general. Eat whole corn with the water in tact, eat meals and don't snack.
@CharGC1238 жыл бұрын
I do eat corn, and not normally a snacker, but when others are glomming chips and dip, I choose to turn to popcorn or air cooked papadums, instead of vacating their company. Sometime cukes and carrots are fine, and sometimes I need something different. I understand caloric density but again, I am not eating raw, dense, kernels, they have been expanded quite dramatically into 60+ calories for 2 actual cups ...which is minimal for a long lasting, and satisfying occasional "indulgence" while still being able to enjoy the vital component of socialization.
