I embrace the symptoms of fasting. If the fasting gets too fierce, we can break it, recuperate, and return to it later. It's not a race or a diet. There is no failing with fasting-just time passing by between two fasts.

I did something really dumb. Went from zero excercise and a high carb diet, straight into a 3 day fast with walking 5km per day. I have Hashimotos hypothyroidism. I felt cold and weak as if wading through wet concrete. Also had palpitations and mild dizziness on occasion. My body is starting to recover. Lesson learned.

@@col_Guile start off slowly, especially if used to eating all day. Try pushing breakfast back by an hour until it’s so close to lunch time that you can drop lunch. Gradually increase the fasting window until you’re comfortably going for 18 hours or more without any blood sugar issues.

Interesting explanation. I was fully Keto for about 8 months, during that time I did multiple long fasts. 5 day, 6 day, 7 day and even did an entire month eating 4 days and fasting three. All worked beautifully, I felt great and had loads of energy. One problem, after one of my long fasts my feet and hands were freezing cold on the 6th day of the fast and my core temp dropped to about 94.5. Needless to say I broke the fast. Now when ever I attempt longer fasts my core temp drops and my feet are ice cold. This explanation in this video makes complete sense but only makes sense if these things happen in the first few days. What about getting cold like that deep into a fast after 6 days or so? You're obviously fully into the fast and everything explained has already happened. Part of me is wondering if I should just power through it assuming the body will eventually adjust the temp. But getting down to 94.5 degrees can be disturbing. I've been doing tons of research to get to the bottom of this but there simply isn't enough information out there regarding this specific problem.

I have done 24-48 hr fasts for years but recently started doing extended fasts. I remember being cold in the second or third day the first time I did a 96 hour water fast. That was the longest fast I ever did and my first extended fast. I now do 72 hour water fasts some times and never feel cold BUT I do think I get that sudden fast heart rate thing usually in the second or third day. I was never concerned about it but this is interesting. I wonder if after that first time, my thyroid just realized that my liver would come to the rescue 🤨

This is a very excellent, needed video. I have a question - what causes agitation after 15-20 hours fasting and/or an hour after breaking said fast? This agitation feels irritable- not anxious. The feeling lasts 1-2 hours. Also sometimes a weakness happens after eating, which makes causes craving something sugary. It seems that the work of digestion requires more energy than is readily available from the protien eaten. The weak feeling is mitigated somewhat if pasta/rice/potatoes accompanies the protien/fat. Currently this weakness is managed by laying down til it passes.

So, the heart palpitations are caused by excess of energy? I thougth it was lack of electrolites... It may as well mean not the excess of energy in the positive sense, but overstraining your adrenal system. I've once heard about this effect of stressing your body too much by too high ketone levels (above 2-3, for example). I'm still confused what is better - get the highest possible ketones level or some optimal level that is not so high would be better.

But this doesn’t align with one of your shorts where you said if you feel lightheaded and shaky it means your body needs fuel and stop the fast. I have been doing IF and prolonged fasting for 5 months. I am now getting vertigo and lightheadedness at the 18-24 hour mark. In the first 3 months I could go for 48-65 hours. What’s happening to me then? I’ve lost a lot of weight, my skin and eczema have improved dramatically but now I’m getting this vertigo which is not allowing me to go into a deep autophagic state to cure my sciatica and neck pain. I dont have a thyroid i starve it. I fainted the other day. Woke up at 4 am on my bedroom floor narrowly missed a metal bar. Gained a stone on 1000 cal and 6 hours walk daily. Went off eltroxin. Had dose reduced theres no point in taking it i dont urinate and this is the second time this year i passed out this year . I was a bit underweight as thyroid was overactive but now im carrying too much body fat. Im now just eating 20p cals as 600 caused me to gain 2.2 kgs a week im also cutting my water intake as i think its excessive. Very small framed size of 5-7 year old as bones stopped growing in childhood. Have reduced urination.

Every time I attempt a 5 day fast for an immune reset to treat bad MCAS I end up with really low blood sugar and have to quit. I'm 63 hours in and I woke up at 2 AM with my heart racing so I tested my blood sugar and it was 56 so I had a Ricola to bring it up. I tested again at 7 AM and it was down to 43 and my ketones were 3.1. How low is too low? I don't want to stop. I'm tired of having swelling lips, tongue, and throat when I eat or I'm around cats and dogs, drive in my car that I'm now apparently allergic to, etc. 🙄 My doctor is no help so I'm on my own here. Is it dangerous for me to continue the fast as long as I'm not feeling too terrible? In the past I had to stop when it got to the point I felt like I was going to pass out and my heart was racing and I got tunnel vision, but this time I don't feel like that even with the low blood sugar readings. This time I was already in ketosis before attempting the fast, so maybe that's made a difference. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So sorry no one answered your questions. I wish I could help you but I can’t . Maybe you can still fast, just not for 5 days . Do alternate day fasting maybe ? I wanted you to know that you helped me with something . So I have MCAS too . And I also have Interstitial Cystitis . I have Sjogrens. I think I have Ehlers Danlos. Anyway, ever since I got my couch and loveseat I feel weird when I sit on it . I can’t really explain how it makes me feel it’s so odd. I have been wondering if I was allergic to it. And when you said that about your car I instantly thought about my couch. Guess it’s time to get another couch

@@megalou6567 anything that off gasses can be an issue for those who have MCAS. In my case, my car had mold and that's one of my biggest triggers. 🙄 I bought a brand new car and was fine for a while, but now I'm reacting to that too. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm so tired of this 💩.

Not normal. Poop is an important aspect of fasting. You should be fairly regular every other day, if not daily. Try adding psyllium husk in a big glass of water - both should get things moving. Calcium and magnesium also strongly stimulate the GI tract motility.
