besides online coaching and patreon, do you ever considered making specialised in depth technique manuals for the squat or deadlift for example, with the goal to learn and achieve proper technique from the get go, not knees over toes guy squat, I mean vertival shin powerlifting squat or deadlift?

Unbelievable true. After coaching some friends in the gym I’ve found these tips to be key helping them improve. I’m by no means the ultimate coach or lifter but I have helped friends who were stuck at bench presses as low as 70kg move up to 100kg in the span of nearly 8 months. Patience is key and 1kg bench press increases every 1-2 weeks was much more productive and less dangerous than maxing out past technical failure every session. Although it doesn’t seem like much but if you look at it over a longer time frame that’s anywhere between a 26-52KG over a year. This is clearly not achievable the higher up you go but it gives a sense of perspective and longevity. Amazing video.

Just to add on Matta comments on staying away from anabolics, most ppl should. I spotted a guy one time. I'm not naming names but I've seen powerlifters go from 500 to 330 benches in a few weeks off As. I've seen bodybuilders drop 30ibs in a few weeks off so this ten percent, I don't buy it. Matt I’ve learned so much from you. Hopefully one day I’ll get to meet you, shake your hand and thank you. Looking forward to reading your new book. On topic: I read a quote many, many years ago that was attributed to the great Lee Priest. (All those training articles in Flex from 25-30 years ago you take with a grain of salt but it certainly seems like something Lee would say.) I digress… It said “there’s no such thing as overtraining, only under-eating.” Don’t remember if the article had any context to that quote but I when I think about, on a certain level it’s true. Your body needs calories and nutrients to recover. Yes it needs sleep, but if there isn’t sufficient calories you CAN’T recover. Train whatever you want, whenever you want, for as long and as hard as you want. Provided you can suck in enough calories & nutrients, you will recover. Both structurally and neurologically, IMHO. The physical difficulty of consistently training extreme and eating extreme is the obvious limiting factor. But on a surface level, I believe it’s that simple: if you believe you’re overtraining, don’t be so quick to throw the baby out with the bath water. Take up those calories, give your body the building blocks to grow. Simply having a knee jerk reaction of slowing down your training isn’t always the answer and could slow your gains down. Yes I’m bored at work and wanted to talk training. Thanks again Matt! 🇺🇸💪🏼

Hmmmm from the Soviet research- overtraining is real and deloads should be utilized monthly - I’ll tool that advice and broke many records - it will be in the book
@mikeanthony5206 Жыл бұрын
@@WenningStrength You’re 1,000% correct. Wholeheartedly agree. I just feel the need to clarify my point just a smidge…. if only for the reason to have you move me from your “this guy is a complete idiot” list into “this guy is only a partial idiot list.” I did make it clear that simply just eating more is not always the answer for overtraining. However, when in a particular circumstance I believe it should not be discounted so quickly. Also, deload is utilized for giving your entire system a reprieve for an extended time. If you’re inside of a max training wave and you have one hardcore, pushed past your limits-type training day where it feels like you’ve done a line of coke, shoveling in a few extra hundred calories that day can help with feeding that CNS, if for nothing else but to level out. And probably the most important piece of info is I read this in context of a bodybuilding magazine. If Lee Priest said it or not, it would’ve been stated by someone in a bodybuilding capacity. Bodybuilders don’t know what the f*ck a deload week is. Some don’t. Just my 2¢ Matt. Friendly conversation.

Yes it's hard to get younger lifters to understand the concept of a training max, that you can actually get more benefit with a smooth 90-92% single, than you would get with a 100% grinder PR. I remember being young and eager and making those same mistakes so it's hard to blame them.
