One thing I really miss from Sims 3 is the quests you got based on your job or skills, like "deliver this important document to the town hall to get a raise in work performance" or "fix this person's shower and earn some money". And the TS3 Store upping prices over the years, I remember that being a contention as well. They'd be really skeevy about the advertising of the worlds as well; I remember the Aurora Skies world really heavily advertised a balloon, the pictures making it look like you could actually fly above the neighbourhood. It seemed plausible since they had made horses work, and underwater swimming, etc... But when I bought it, turned out you could NOT fly over the neighbourhood. The balloon would be attached to a rope, and it would hover a pretty lame distance above the ground, stuck in place. You could stand in it and drink champagne. But honestly? I remember a lot of the expansion packs exceeding my expectations a number of times because there would be so much to do in each of them. When I saw the leaked cover of the pets expansion, I thought it was fake simply because it had horses on it, and I didn't believe for a second we'd get HORSES. But then we did! And wildlife too! The expansions grew a *little* more shallow in the later years, probably because they invested more in the TS3 store's content? Although I really enjoyed the Future-themed expansion even if it didn't have *as much* depth... in retrospect, it feels a step closer to what Sims 4 expansions are like. Still better, but... you know.

And he now married one of his great great cousins or something. And every generation has like some very interesting game play twist, i.e one generation were only inventors trying to make as many servos as possible, one is a farmer naking money out of horse riding and now owns a unicorn, one was two vampires who was part of a band, while living as an actor and musician in the big city. sims 3 and its packs feels like a knitted or crocheted project. it feels like one big thing threaded together that's so interlocked and so connected that, with some exceptions, feels seamless. sims 4 feels like a puzzle. the pieces come together with rigid jagged lines and you can see clearly where one expansion ends and another starts and you can take one piece out without affecting everything else

I tried to like the similar pack in The Sims 4, but nothing can really beat having 3 destinations based on real world places, which are both fun to explore, and has much better puzzle mechanics. The "puzzles" in The Sims 4 packs have so much to be desired, and don't get me started on the load screens in 4... With World Adventures, you load the open world, and on modern PCs, it barely takes that long, then once you are at your destination, you can do all your activities without needing to worry about another load screen until you are ready to go back to your home world. Load screens really takes away from the immersion for me, especially when I'm thinking of various things I want to do during my vacation, only to forget what I was doing because of a long load screen.

In both Sims 2 and 4, if you want a color themed house -- like maybe you're making a pastel baby blue & pink house or a goth black & red house, you have to use VERY specific objects. So, if there's an object you particularly like but it doesn't have the right color swatch? You can't use it and you'll have to go for something you like less to get the right color. Whereas in The Sims 3, if there's a bed you really want for your home yet it lacks the Swatch, you can just color it to anything you want! It beats having to download multiple CC recolors imo.

also the reason island paradise was so buggy was that it was one of the last in development before sims 4 release, and as we all know now, all efforts of EAxis at the time were going to making project olympus an offline only game

Yes I agree with you. Sims 4 expansion are great in that they went deeper into more of a supernatural, more of a certain life state, etc. than the Sims 3. However, I still say Sims 3 is the best and I still play it to this day. Yes, playing Sims 3 without mods just doesn't make for lasting gameplay. However, I have the mods in my game (like NRAAS) to help with the townes and ensure the town involves. Love Late Night, specifically Bridgeport really. I have modified it so much that it now has the showtime buildings and some future skyscrapers. Sims 3 just feels alive and just a great experience. Sure they have their Sims 3 issues but still would take it over Sims 4 ANY DAY.

As the firefighter career is still my favorite what i found out is never have a long queue at the start of work set them to repair the alarm and the truck then eat or what ever and let them have nothing you need to cancel and do short tasks or let them auto around. then when the fire starts you will beable to click to respond and they will drop all auto tasks and run.

I think CAS and build/buy are the only things sims 4 does better than the sims 3. Game play is very lacking in comparison. Not only is it shallow but they constantly reskin old objects and pretend they are new game play items. But it’s not. They even reuse the animations. Some things are very unbalanced too, like building robots or making candles. I just don’t do it because it takes so long and it’s not worth it.

My theory is that EA started there descent into cashgrabification towards the end of Sims 3. There's no other reason for later packs starting to break the game as a whole. QA had to have been greatly minimalized well before Sims 4.

Ths 3 is sooo much better! I played it for the last few month and of course, i miss the multitasking, random Outfitchanges per day and some other little Feature from TS4, but: Its better anyway - and that without much mods! I never played TS4 without mods, because its so boring. By the way: I think it is difficult to compare the CAS, because the "style" of 2009 was simply different than it is now. You could see, that the later upcoming packs like Diesel already included much more modern clothing. But I agree with you here - when it comes to CAS and Buildbuy, Sims 4 is better. But honestly: I don't play the game for the building aspects, there are much better games for that (like Planet Zoo), but for the gameplay and TS4 still sucks in that perspective.

I remember a very very VERY annoying bug in sims 3, where you CANT save, and sometimes, trying to save your game, just deletet your game instead. the reason behind this bug was this annoying memorie system, every single sim had in your save file, this was horrible. sims 4, I only have problems with big builds I made Also in terms of "best build simulator" Umm Planet Coster and Planet Zoo are way more better. You can just build everything you want.

I will say, one of the things I liked better about TS3 occults is that, despite not having a skill tree, your occult sims always felt much more fleshed out as people. It was about balancing life as an occult (feeding and staying out of the sun as a vampire, for example) with the already in-depth everyday life that they had, like an added challenge to make things even more interesting. In TS4 it's basically just speed running leveling up because it's not that hard, then being bored and deleting your game because your grand master is basically maxing every skill and career until the end of time. The only occult thing I like better is that every vampire will have unique powers.

I loved the sims 3. I've played every sim game since I was a pre-teen, but the sims 3, I guess because of how old I was by then too, was the one I invested more hours in, had more expansions for and made the more complicated builds. I don't dislike the Sims 4, they deffinetly improved the building experience, but it's taken me a long time to love it, because it took them a long time to catch up to what we could already do in TS3.

It’s the lore that I crave. I just finished playing an in-depth Werewolves family and there is just so much that the other packs don’t have in terms of lore. I don’t particularly love peeing on the floor though.

My last crash : A baby just aged up to infant. Hit the Randomiser to give him his infant trait. The location where the trait should appears goes blank. The check mark remains greyed out. Waited some 20 minutes with nothing happening. Had to kill the game. Regarding active careers. In the police/detective career, in order to get a promotion, you need to resolve cases. You can ONLY resolve cases when you follow your Sim at his job. In the scientist career, you need to make break through. You can do those at home, but, you need to follow your Sim to get the fun stuff, like the Simray, the satellite antenna and the cloning machine. Go to a festival, place the antenna somewhere, have everyone have a bladder failure. Have an event where you need to have several Sims dancing ? Place the antenna and influence the neighbourhood to «Dance Night». Don't even need to have any music playing. I suspect that the reason that in The Sims4 we still don't have spiral stairways is that we can have various wall heights and platforms. Higher wall height mean that the spiral need to rotate more. A platform can mean that the spiral need to rotate less. The minimum and recommended specifications are for the base game only. If you have half of the DLCs, the minimum specifications requirement is now the recommended, and the recommended is now 16Gb of RAM. If you have all DLCs, then, you need at least 12Gb of RAM, and the recommended increase to some 32Gb of RAM.

I always have biases when it comes to some particular packs for the Sims 4 but Sims 3 has the best overall experience. I remember when I was on my teenage years how one expansion could literally change the whole gameplay experience in the game. Now expansion nowadays feels like you need another pack to complete the experience.

I stopped getting these packs when it became clear that they only added more clutter to the UI and pop up text boxes, and that the actual sims and their environments had completely stagnated and did nothing new. Somewhere around Dream Home Decorator, when they resold us the build-buy mode with awkward limitations!!

One other plus I will give Sims 4 packs over Sims 3 packs is the worlds. In the sense that in Sims 4 you can experience every single world a pack has to offer in a single game. Whereas Sims 3 you're locked into playing that world for that entire save (except for a few like the Future and the Travel destinations)

I agree that none was perfect at all. Both had a lot of bugs and sims 3 made my pc crash even more than the sims4. Sims 3 overall had better gameplay and felt much more complete but I HATED the way it looked. That is why I still say Sims2 was the best one. I feel like sims3 was when th problems started and everyone ignored it because it was open world.

Hey, since EA must be scraping the bottom of the barrel, looking for new ideas for packs, I got one: DMV Pack! Where your sims still don't have cars but they can still wait for an entire day in line for service. New items include: the ticket system, which will break every once in a while. Sometimes your sims will T pose, and then seemingly forget what they're there for. Sometimes the cashier won't show up, or will decide to continuously make and drink coffee and talk to people in line. Aside from that and maybe a new TV screen we got some familiar looking furniture that we already have or wish we already had. Or it's so weird that we just won't talk about it. The clothing much the same, but maybe one thing vaguely masculine.

Is it too much to ask to have a game that has sims 4 create a sim and building, gameplay mechanics of sims 3 and attention to detail of sims 2?
@Didosa1232 күн бұрын
I know that was just a small aspect of this video, but I also feel like being in a love-hate-relationship with the create a style tool in TS3. I feel like it would´ve been perfect if it was a bit easier to handle, or maybe my pc was just too bad to actually run the game, cause I always had to wait a while for the patterns and colors to load. However, the sheer frustration of not being able to just match chairs and tables in TS4 because you always have to use the pieces that came together in one pack, or they didn´t even bother to put in matching chairs and tables.... I can´t - I want my style tool back. Eventually, I´d prefer to have less bed objects but possibilities to match them, instead of tons of beds from different packs that only work with a very limited amount of objects from other packs... + who the hell needs a new tread mill in each new pack??

They're kinda adding more and more UI and 'code' systems (for the lack of a better term?) rather than gameplay items with animations. I imagine all those systems clogging the game only makes it a lot buggier in the long run, right? Gameplay items tend to interfere less with one another, if at all; for example, a guitar doesn't affect the stability of the science table, or a workout machine. But new systems? Imagine keeping track of their code not interfering or conflicting with one another, and that list of systems only getting longer and longer. It just seems like a recipe for the situation we've had for years now, and yet they keep adding more systems. It's likely because this takes less time than creating new gameplay items such as a ballet barre; it means making numerous new animations, and I'm guessing EA doesn't want to invest money in that, especially when they know they make money just fine doing things the way they are now. I also believe, much like large part of the Gaming Community ™, they don't respect or view The Sims as a "real game". They treat it more like a cozy-game that's good enough for people who want to keep playing on laptops and other consoles. They're aware "cozy gamers" won't expect much. Thus EA doesn't don't find it worth treating the Sims like a "real game", because that would mean having it exclusively played on PC's again (like the main series originally was a PC game up until Sims 4), and having it also... heaven forbid... live up to the quality standard of a PC game. And by quality standard, I'm not talking about graphics, I'm talking about content. Sims 3 open world may have been too demanding for the PC's of the time, but I don't believe that's true anymore. A new up to date Sims game with open world, I think that would run fine... if it was made for PC. But the current cozy status quo they've made is just more convenient and cheap for them. My opinion is that as long as The Sims continues to be a cozy game made for laptops and consoles, it's never going to improve. (Edit: To add to that, the Sims doesn't need to be a franchise exclusive to PC either; they *could* go back to their old ways of having a separate version of the Sims made for console. That seemed to work fine?) Also EA are assholes, lol. They could invest more in the franchise to give us more gameplay with new animations, and fix the broken packs people paid for, but they don't care to. And ultimately, they don't have to either. Unfortunately.

Ts3 was/is definitely really great game from a gameplay perspective and the word create + cast was fantastic! But the sims in it are SO UGLY! tbh sims 4 is my fave (even though I got sims 3) because it's aesthetically pleasing, has better graphics, my pc doesnt try to explode and crash the game (tried both on a pc and Macbook ts4 miles better) every 5min then proceed to DELETE my stuff like sims 3. im a build and cas person overall and gameplay last. although if all this wouldn't happen to my sims 3 game I would happily ditch sims 4 and get lots of cc but I already spent so much on sims 4

You hit the nail on the head with this one... I can tell how worse off the Sims 4 is from the Sims 3 just based on the amount of times I've played it and how I'm not buying any new packs. For Instance, when I play w/ Sims 3, I play in HOURS like 4 - 8 hours at a time and owned every pack. Sims 4 I can only play at maximum 3 hours at a time before I get bored and I haven't bought any new pack since For Rent... don't get me wrong there's several that I want, but I've just decided that I'm never paying the full price ever again, now that they've made the base free to play and anything new added to the game needs to be patched almost immediately. I'll buy packs when they go on sale after they've been debugged.

I could forgive the lack of cas and build stuff and the bugs in sims 3 because it actually had gameplay unlike sims 4, i was more than happy to spend money on S3 packs because they were worth and I never even thought of downloading cc. S4 for me has $1939 worth of dlc doesn't have the same amount of content as S3 and their idea of gameplay is my sims phone spamming calls and messages at me every 5 seconds and bugs that shouldn't be a thing on top of having to download a lot of mods to get rid of annoying "gameplay" like random push ups and to get basic stuff like a spiral staircase.

Been awhile since I played the Sims 3, but positives were the open world, World Adventures, and a lot more unpredictable (think robbers and such). The townies just felt more alive. My characters did what they were told and didn't lag out all the time. Yes, I liked the store because I could customize what I bought oppose to kits which I may like only a few items out of the bunch. I like being able to buy new world without buying a expansion pack. Negative were always the loading (I'd leave it on in the background to avoid the start up LOL. Positives for the Sims 4 is definite building. Though I did build a lot in Sims 3. Builder always find a way. New expansion world are lazy- why did they stop putting collectables in later worlds? Why does San Musuno seeming not have any residence? Game play is very boring- Earning money is not hard. Character interaction is really pointless- every character feels the same. Hate the constant interruption of "should I go out with X phone calls". I wish there was a way to set up character routines for basic thing (wake up time, going to work, eating so you don't have to micromanage everything). I find play more that 2 character overwhelming because the AI can't have people go to the bathroom by itself. Other Sims being idiots goes from being entertaining to boring real quick. Sims 3 AI just seemed better thought out. I always wish I could just turn ghost off in game lol. Paranormal Sims make no sense to me when they don't have an impact on "normal" characters. I was excited to play an alien for the first time until nothing happened being out of disguise. Also everyone starting with 0 skills and able to level up every skill to 10 if they "try". Nothing is a challenge, just a tedious routine.
