This is astounding. I was a smug 70 yr old flag waving eater of dandelion greens, spinach, chard, beet greens, daily nuts, Sally's whole☠bad list. Humbled and educated as of today. Remarkable how the entire medical profession has missed this. A transforming lesson and thank you very much!

Lucky no negative results for you. I didn't wave any flags, but I did buy into the narrative and ate all my super foods daily. Little or no meat for years. Like Sally, I love my veg. I've ended up a mess! 😢 Giant kidney stones, parathyroid surgery, tooth removal, multiple breast cancer scares, vulvodynia. At 68, I think I am finally expelling the last bits of it. I do have an ocassional tea, and once in a while, nuts. I have a vegetarian friend who claims my microbiome should handle the oxalates. I told her,, not sure that applies to overdosing! But of course, there are the ones who would victim blame.

I had eaten dairy all of my childhood and into my early adult years, but when I started eating ''healthy'', I couldn't eat it anymore. So for decades I went without dairy. THEN I heard about Sally K Norton and cut out oxalates of from my diet and by 2 weeks I was able to eat dairy again. It was so strange, but I was in the grocery store and walking past the yogurt section, I stopped and stared at it. I was like, are you crazy!!! I don't want a gut ache....but I couldn't let the idea go....so I bought some whole fat organic yogurt and tried it that night, It worked! I was fine ! I was walking on clouds! I have been nom-noming on all dairy like crazy now! But one thing I found out the hard way....I bought some cream cheese, philadelphia brand, I took a big bite of some and a few moments later my gut was hurting like it used to when I was eating veges with oxalic acid. I looked on the package to find out what could be hurting me like that and one of the ingredients was carob bean gum. I looked it up only to find out that carob beans are high in oxalic acid. I was pissed!! Why are they putting this crap in our dairy!! Thankfully I found Tillamook brand ceam cheese and it doesn't give me that kind of stomach problems. But still, I'm not happy with the food industry.

In the past when I was eating a high oxalate diet the optician would tell me I have ‘Blepharitis’ but this was just my normal eye state eating this toxin. Now my eyes are smooth with no bumps. They still release oxalate and get red if eat some to slow down dumping. I also have sandpaper stools as I dump oxalate from my digestive tract. They make me bleed sometimes. I enjoyed a plant based diet, grew much of my own organic veggies, ate a lot of beets, tops and bottoms and grains. Eventually my liver became toxic and I was diagnosed through blood work and an MRI. I'm 73 and have always been interested in nutrition but after my diagnosis I began to research other nutritional theory's which led me to eating a clean keto diet. I still ate veggies but low oxalate ones and no grains of course. Within 3 months I had a meeting with my gastroenterologist who said I was 50% better, then a year later my labs were normal. Interestingly my cholesterol was down, especially triglycerides.

@777greenice 7 ай бұрын
You might want to consider having your calcium blood levels checked along with your parathyroid hormone and vitamin D level all taken at yhe se time, usually fasting furst thing in morning. I say this as osteoporosis was my first indication of hyperparathryroidism. It took me a good few years to figure this out as most endocrinologists are not well educated in the area, much kess most orimary doctors. Through a simple x-ray to find out why I was having lower back pain and wasnt getting better with physical therapy, it was found I had degenerative discs and kidney stones which led to a dexa scan for osteoporosis. These days theres minimal look for root causes and "getting older" is the general label. Parathyroids(4 glands behind thyroid) cobtrol ALL calcium in our bodies. One can go bad and the other 3 stop working, allowing for the calcium to be dumped through the urine and also migrate into arteries and organs. Uts HIGHLY underdianosed ir misdiagnosed according to endocrine surgeons on the know. Here's a site to help inform yourself on this: parathyroid.com and there's also a great facebbok group called: hyperparathryroidism information and support which serves as a great databases of great endicrine surgeons ariund the workd, etc.

I am reading Sally Norton’s toxic superfoods. I recently transitioned from a low carb Mediterranean diet to a carnivore way of eating. I took two weeks to transition. I’m 76 and healthy with no known medical issues. In the last 5 weeks, I have had a few veggies - broccoli, avocado, sea weed, white rice, edamame. I do have random arthritic pains (my doc called it galloping arthritis which does have a technical name). Your book is scaring me. I don’t know if my old diet was high oxalate or not but now I’m worried that the clearing process could affect me many years from now.

Visit her website and you can check the list of foods that are high and low in oxalates. She recommends that people that are shifting from a high to a very low oxalate diet (which carnivore is) to keep a small amount of oxalates in their diet to slow down the body from dumping oxalates too fast. A cup of tea or of hot chocolate in the evenings (when most dumping occurs) is generally enough.

@@nataliajimenez1870 Interesting. I haven’t watch the video yet, but I’ve read her book, watched other videos with her and other people. I wasn’t sure what was happening a few years ago. I did a 3 day water and I believe it was on day three water fast and I had to pee and it was excruciating painful my kidneys hurt the urine was almost brown in colour. It scared me so I broke the fast. just recently I did a five day fast with a tiny bit of juice type broth, once a day. I ended up a non Keto type rash but a rash. Now I’ve cut back more oxalate foods - strange hip pain- then bad intestinal cramps- when in bed. I got up ate about 2 oz- (maybe 70-80 g ) of cheddar cheese and one square if very dark chocolate. The cramps stopped almost immediately! During these last number of days, I felt a little bit itchy. My skin seem drier. I haven’t had dry skin like that - but I really cut back on those oxalate foods determined to get better. all I’m tired of the tartar on my teeth. Is it going to get worse? Will my teeth build up even more tartar?? Does anyone know as I get rid of the oxalate out of my body I’m doing these supplements along with it that are supposed to help absorb extra oxalate. Thus decrease dumping symptoms.

Spinach was always a favorite food of mine, even as a kid my mother made me big pots of beet greens combined with beet roots. It made me feel special because no ine else liked them. I also overdid potatoes, I would not eat dairy. My parents finally quit worrying because they decided I got my calcium the way the cow got it". I loved chocolate, nuts, whole wheat bread. I did not drink tea so much as I guzzled it, pot after pot all winter & pitcher after pitcher iced in the summer. I had a huge kidney stone in 1991, lithotripsy & 2 cystoscopy procedures. All my urologist told me was to avoid tea, chocolate & nuts. I asked for a more complete list, but that is all he knew. I discovered B6 & Mg would prevent the stones so I took them & went back to tea chocolate & nuts. Fast forward to 2012. I went keto. No longer had high insulin, so I quit B6 & Mg. Keto helped many things. But not everything. 2022, started carbs again. But some problems came back. Plus fibrous stuff caused GI problems. I finally landed on Sally's videos. Im only a few weeks into it, but I had 1 major detox. My upper chest, back & arms shed skin like crazy. It itched & I had to scrub that skin off with a brush. It was a place where my body (unnaturally imo) stored fat. I can only pray that this is the plan that gets me mostly healed. (I had thru the skin detoxing after all the kidney stone procedures too, only it was itchy white scabs). Keto reversed T2 diabetes & really helped my eyesight. I had no GI problems etc. but I had poor thyroid function & fibroids eventually requiring hysterectomy. So keto only got me so far. Lord help us & thank you for the info Ms. Norton.

Heirloom seeds can be saved and you get the same plant features when grown again, extremely reliable results every time. Flavor & nutrition superiority but not always the disease/pest resistance & shelf life as non-Heirloom, which is why they are less used in commercial agriculture. Can't tolerate the chemicals as much either, more variety in crop product size as well. Commercial growers prefer standard dependable tomato shape & sizes & timing of development/ripening & compatibility with machine harvesting is another reason Heirloom plants don't usually work for commercial farming, long-distance shipping, & grocery store sales.

a friend told me about this, i have been getting what might be gout attacks maybe 2 or 3 a year, usually knees but sometimes ankle or big toe. sometimes its insanely bad, as if someome had stabbed a hot knife into the joint, can't walk etc, then a week later i can be like brand new, go jogging, everything. i am otherwise really healthy, no meds, didn't get any strange jabs lately etc. Will give the oxilates thing a try.

Hi Sally ! I’ve made a skin lubricant…..really easy….just beef tallow and an organic aromatic oils blend. Melt 1 tablespoons tallow in small metal dish, add a few drops of aromatic oil- I use a blend, cinnamon, etc. , mix and apply. You might use yer old channel #5, but haven’t tried that! I’m using the hand lotion on my hair for when I’m in the pool! I like lots of Marseille’s remedy oil in the tallow, cause it really tingeles but smarts the eyes….🙏

Points to consider also should also include metabolic disorders, deydration of the body, dense blood, the body being in non-alkali state, bowel disorder invites all kinds of metabolic disorders, leading to high uric acid, non-alkali body contributes to formation of oxalates. PH of the body should not be less than 6.5 (urine test).

For those of us who were mostly eating bad stuff, like mostly take out, fast food, processed foods, will we not have that bad of oxalate dumping? I mean I guess the seed oils from fried foods, etc have implanted oxalates in me, but it almost sounds like the spinach and greens folks are who are hit pretty hard by the dumping.

Everything said here makes sense *except* the fact that the longest lived people eat the most oxalates from plant-heavy diets. Blue zone centenarians in Okinawa didn't go without sweet potatoes and Loma Linda centenarians aren't going without spinach and almonds. This seems like great advise for a recovery diet but not the ideal maintenance diet.

I mean think about it. If you've got decades of oxalates bult up in your bones and other tissues, the blood test wouldn't show all that, just what you had recently consumed, or the little bits released while dumping. Too superficial of a test to show the big picture

I had been eating so many oxalates! They were basically my fave foods. I went almost overnight to a Carnivore way of Eating. Yup - must have been a lot of oxalate dumping! I tried to talk to a doctor about oxalates and got a perplexed stare. I cannot eat cucumbers! Or most vegetables and fruits. They show up in the toilet.

Just to add to your confusion I had dinner with a couple last night (in their 50's I would guess) who were some of the most energetic full of life people I've ever run into. I'm talking about people who went up on a mountain and built a large house with their bare hands. They professed to be vegetarians (except dairy) and were scarfing down sweet potatoes, beets, and pasta with tomato sauce like they hadn't eaten in a month. Number two get real. "Health" in America is on a decending slope but do you really think that Americans are eating too much spinach? What percentage of the population eats chard and beet greens ever? I've looked through the book and respectfully feel that it is dubious.

Hold on: Just giving the oxalate value is deceptive. What is the bioavailabilty of the oxalate content? For example, the bioavailability of oxlates in tea is low--and yet you broadcast it as a dangerous source of oxlates in your title. You are discouraging the consumption of nutritious food. Cite research for your dramatic click-bait claims, please.

We should just eat air and water. But wait, what about pollution? This is so idiotic. Ok, I can understand pigging out on green smoothies, or chocolate, but going from vegetarian and vegan to carny? Pathetic. Maybe the message should be moderation instead of clickbait. Do you have any idea how much damage you are causing by promoting anxiety? Shame on you.
