I’ve been drinking a LOT of unsweetened, flavored, sparkling waters. The ingredients say water and natural flavors. I’m uncertain about those “natural flavors.” Is that phrase hiding anything harmful?
@dietdoctor3 жыл бұрын
It may depend on the product. In a flavored water for example, it's usually not a problem but for other products, it may vary. Your country's food label regulatory agency should have more information on what that term could include.
@robinbeers66893 жыл бұрын
In other foods, the term "natural flavors" can hide a lot of things including MSG. In bubbly waters such as LeCroix, it is only the "essence" of the fruit which comes from the peel. Kind of like essential oils.

I personally believe that alcohol shouldn't be a choice on a keto diet/lifestyle. Being first, as stated, metabolised by the liver, that is not a very fast process. And since a lot of people prefer to drink after dinner then digestion is delayed for a while and might cause a problem if after dinner one drinks a glass of preferred alcoholic drink and then go to bed. Just a thought :D

@gherdaiulian3 жыл бұрын
@@themarsy469 why use milk? Especially lactose free? I've heard (didn't verify it to be honest) that through the process of removing lactose, lactose is actually replaced with sugar or something that will give milk its sweetness same as it was "natural". 2 drinks for men and 1 for women is within the guidelines for recommended maximum daily alcohol consumption. The difference here is that he does not demonize alcohol per se if you limit yourself to those guidelines and keep in mind the side effects. Most Drs or dieticians will put all alcohol in the same category but there are certainly some who are very rich in carbohydrates wich can ruin your ketosis with ease. Binging is a whole other demon and that will surely ruin anybody's ketosis for at least a day. I like how he treat people as adults and just warn about possible side effects and does not fall in that cliché of "oh no, stay completely away from alcohol, it's devil".

And avoid fruit juice. Many contain added sugar. But even 100% fruit juice is bad as it contains fructose. Fructose is worse than sugar because it is metabolized solely by the liver, which can lead to liver fat accumulation and insulin resistance over time.
