Simple answer is a LOT of money. Ferrari Challenge cost around 1.1Million a year to compete so Super Trofeo should be around the same.
@dons19326 жыл бұрын
About $20,000 - $40,000 per round easily. Just to run and enter the car. Plus consumables. Plus repairs. Plus travel. Plus meals. Plus the price of the car. As he said, the cost of an Aventador, just to COMPETE. And not necessarily win. That costs even more. Racing a Lambo though - priceless. Nothing would compare.

What a great, disciplined, level-headed and yet still inspirational and aspirational video. Great to hear someone describe the very realistic real-world approach to racing without the "follow your dreams and passion and it will happen" fantasy jargon. Yes, what it actually takes is a lot of money and a lot of hard work. Along with the discipline required to make those things happen and work in conjunction together.

The biggest kick in the nuts is the age at which a driver should start driving, and the fact that you have to have semi-rich parents at the minimum. I'm 17, and i think it's too late for me to enter motorsport, ever since i was 6, i was dreaming of go-karting, but my parents didn't have the money for it. I'm learning programming in school and where i live programmers earn a pretty jaw-dropping money relative to other people in my country (about 5-6 times as much as a normal person), so i could start entering motorsport when i get work, but the problem is, i'm too old, and my dream of racing cars will forever remain in a wheelchair with a Fanatec in my hands.

I'd really love to get into the racing scene. But I feel like I'm too old already to get started. It seems like most of the truly good drivers started driving go-karts before they were even 10 years old. I'm 25, and have very limited track experience, and almost ZERO experience with supercars. Supposing I can afford all the costs associated with racing, is it still early enough, with enough practice, to be come a decent and fairly competitive driver after getting the proper education from a good instructor? Do and of you guys or gals have any advice as to how to get my foot in the door of this amazing seeming scene. Even if it's just like a 24 hours of Lemons kind of thing...or racing just plain old street cars. I have no clue how to even get involved. Is it really as simple as buying a car, learning how to drive it properly and safely on a track, then signing up for an super low level amateur event? I'd love to meet Ryan at a Caffeine and Octane meet and get a chance to chat a bit and get some advice from someone as smart and dedicated as he is to the sport of driving.

It's never really too late for production car racing... as in contrast with real race cars such as Formula single seaters. All you need is a little bit of talent and MOSTLY you just need money. Money solves 90% of the problems in racing. In Formula cars due to its ultra competitive nature you really need to start young in karting. So just go make money and there are plenty of production car based options. Go check out your local NASA Club Racing events or SCCA weekends.

I've often wondered, with the amount of talent and capital that exists in the Atlanta area, what is keeping Ga from becoming a true racing destination? We have world-class tracks, loads of ground support and heavy manufacturer support. I've been involved in the hobby since the mid90s, but it seems like the interest in the area consistently plateaus, followed by a loss of interest. In my experience, it just seems like all of the pieces are in place for an American version of Maranello or the F1 valley in England. Any input?
