Asking your staff to stay within a set time/distance of the hotel provided for the purposes of rest whilst at work is perfectly reasonable, you are not on holiday. Just do something closer and then use discounted tickets to go and see the stuff you want on your actual holiday.
@JetstreamGinger20 күн бұрын
I’m not questioning this rule at all, they all have understandable reasons behind them, and I’ve never said they’re stupid or anything)) This ad specifically I just think it’s a bit misleading. Your career won’t actually take you to Madagascar (it’s just a stopover for EK crew) or to the Torii gate in Japan (it’s way too far from the hotel). I’ve also seen ads featuring the Maldives (which is a turnaround for EK crew and super exhausting, by the way). Sure, you can visit these places on your leave, but they promote it like you’ll get to go there on duty, which is pretty funny. Emirates has so many amazing destinations where crew actually have layovers, so it would make more sense for the ad to highlight those instead of stopovers or turnarounds 🤷♀️

Very good point, I hadn’t even thought about it 👌 I really like how you brought up unrealistic expectations. I’d describe it in a similar way-like when I talked about the unrealistic expectations of traveling while on duty, such as visiting Madagascar, where the crew don’t even have layovers, or going to the Torii Gate and Lake Kawaguchi in Japan, which are impossible to visit during a layover because they’re too far from any crew hotel)) That ad is an extremely beautiful, but a bit far from reality 😬

@JetstreamGinger21 күн бұрын
Alcohol isn’t banned, by the way😄 The rule is that you have to be clear for duty, meaning no drugs or alcohol in your system. There’s a general guideline to stop drinking at least 12 hours before a flight, but it really depends on things like how much you drank, how strong it was, your gender, weight, etc. Sometimes it takes more than 12 hours to be completely clear, so everyone figures it out for themselves. And this isn’t just an Emirates thing, it’s a general aviation rule that every airline has to follow. Which I totally agree with since it’s a safety-related job, and a person must be 100% sober 👌

Hii! I love your videos! Though I am aspired to become emirates cabin crew, I am a bit shocked with how strict everything is. Is there company in Middle East or outside Middle East that is less environmentally strict?
@JetstreamGinger22 күн бұрын
@@e329 hey) I’d say most Middle East airlines tend to be strict, though FlyDubai and Etihad might have a slightly more relaxed vibe compared to Emirates or Qatar. If you’re looking for less strict environments, European or American airlines could be a better option, if you have the right to work there. A big factor is whether the country allows unions for employee protection, which the UAE doesn’t, and that explains a lot. Hope this helps 😬
@e32921 күн бұрын
@ ooooh I didn’t know UAE didn’t have unions. I was considering Delta but it also has no union. Riyadh is coming up so I’m wondering what it’s like but Etihad sounds nice as well. Is it that bad to join a company with no union?
@JetstreamGinger21 күн бұрын
@ People complain about unions all the time, saying they don’t do much, but at least they give you a place to voice your concerns. If enough people feel the same way, you can protest for better pay, rights, rules etc. In the UAE, though, unions aren’t just nonexistent-they’re prohibited by lawl. That means you pretty much have no say as a worker, and companies can do whatever they want. Getting them to change their rules? Almost impossible. Whether this matters depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re thinking about taking a cabin crew job in the UAE, you can try it out and see if the work, rules, and lifestyle suit you. If you’re happy with it, no problem)) But if not, don’t count on being able to change much because, honestly, the chances are low 😬

At that age, none of the rules or the company atmosphere bothered me, I just wanted the experience. If I were choosing now, though, I’d probably go for Etihad 😁 While their salary is slightly lower and they have fewer destinations, they’re more relaxed with their staff, the atmosphere is better, and their ticket perks are amazing (like business class tickets for all crew) Ultimately, it depends on what you’re looking for. You’re fine until someone decides to report your content to the company-so they’re definitely lucky for now😁 I don’t know many people who openly talk about Emirates while still working there. Most popular Emirates influencers no longer work for the company, but some try to hide this to avoid losing followers. For example, there’s the girl who “baked the cake.” She resigned and posted a video about it, which ended up getting her colleagues in trouble and even fired. Despite leaving the company over six months ago, she still posts as if she’s an active crew member 🤷♀️

@JetstreamGinger22 күн бұрын
@ I’m 100% sure she doesn’t work at Emirates anymore. In that video with the cake, she broke so many rules, Social Media Policy and even Safety and Emergency Procedures. She took her boyfriend into the Crew Rest Compartment, baked a cake using equipment not certified for aircraft use, showed restricted crew stowage areas etc. Those are serious violations. She’s really good at making it seem like she’s still with the company, but the truth is her actions got her colleagues in trouble. Honestly, she owes those crew members an apology for the fallout they faced because of her video, but she hasn’t done that. When this happened, I was still an active crew member, and she was already out of the company. Now, three months after I resigned, she’s still pretending to work there. It’s disappointing to see someone do all this just for views and subscribers, even at the expense of others. Pretending to still work for the company is easier than most people think. Anyone with a uniform and some old footage could fake it. But for me, it’s all about honesty-there’s no point in lying about it. What’s even worse is that she deletes and blocks comments from crew members who try to call her out. Meanwhile, there are so many great lifestyles channels of active Emirates crew out there sharing amazing content without breaking the rules or hurting anyone. Those are the creators I’d much rather support 🤷♀️
@annienimo489321 күн бұрын
@JetstreamGinger that was very inconsiderate of her. It might have been easy for her to get that job but for some it took effort to get that job. Am sure the whole crew in those flights got into trouble for not reporting her. She broke so many rules but it's worse some people had to pay for her mistake. Now I know other airlines can't hire her if they saw the video. I feel bad for the other crew💔 thanks for clarifying. All the best in your next adventure 🫶🫶

Waiting for their crew bus was the same - nobody smoked, nobody sat on the flower planters and kicked their heels off, and there wasn’t much conversation. The flight crew still wore hats, coats & ties….and it was *hot*. I’m not sure I could hack it with Emirates after seeing this. The ultimate irony is that there were no general public to see them where we were…..only security and other airlines.

I do not underdstand why so much women want to fly for this company if those rules are not good or called "stupid" rules. Explain it? If you find that rules are stupid than you do not start or not apply or you quid if you can not follow the rules. Ex.: if there should be a rule that you can not married and you are married than you have the choice of not applying or you can divorce but you must not complain that that rule is stupid. Every company has it rules. I know of someone who was living together with his girl friend and they got a child, he was accepted as pilot so he could go with is wife but it was not his wife because they where not married but just living together, everything was ready so they could move to there, the contract was signed but they canceled it because he was not married, they find it out because they told him he received a room for one person and he asked where his girl friend and his son has to stay. He did not lie on the application, he mentioned that he was not married what in fact was true because he was living with his girl friend and his kid. Now he is flying for a company in France.

Sure, there are some travel restrictions with this job, but in just 5 years, I visited 55 countries, all while still in my twenties. Not many other jobs let you do that))

If I worked there for 5 years with no issues, it means I understand discipline, punctuality and how to follow rules. This video is for anyone who wants to join and thinks this job is only about having fun and traveling the world. It’s better to know all the downsides beforehand and accept them rather than join, feel disappointed and resign. By the way, there’s no need to put “…” after every sentence 😉

Waitresses of the sky cabin crew around the world just hype up their job more respect dr, lawyers and nurses.
@JetstreamGinger19 күн бұрын
First of all, every job deserves respect, and it’s possible to appreciate one without disrespecting others. Second, the job of a “waitress in the sky” doesn’t exist, it’s called cabin crew, and their primary responsibility is safety. Who’s going to save your life in case of an emergency? There are no police officers, firefighters, or medical personnel on board and sometimes the nearest airport is over two hours away. Anyway, your comment seems like an attempt to offend me, but I don’t care-it doesn’t bother me in the slightest 😉

Your friends must be very easily shocked. Please try to learn to keep your hands still when you speak. I hope you didn't keep waving your hands around like that when speaking with passengers. 1. Pregnancy rule sounds reasonable. Pregnancy if not married appears to be UAE law, not Emirates rule, if you can go to jail. 2. Poppy seed rule again has a reasonable basis. You say yourself that there was an incident which resulted in this rule. 3. If you identify yourself as EK cabin crew, social media rules make sense. Most companies would not tolerate unauthorised press interviews about the company. Look at some of the nonsense that some airline cabin crew members post on social media! 4. Agree about the tatoos. 5. Agree about the appearance standards. Extreme sports would probably invalidate the company insurance policy (and quite likely any private travel insurance policy you may have as well). None of these rules surprise me except perhaps the criminal conviction for unmarried pregnancy in the UAE which is not an Emirates rule at all but a law. I agree with all these rules and am certainly not shocked by them.

Don’t you think it’s kinda rude to tell someone you don’t even know how they should act? This is my KZbin channel, not my workplace-I’m free to express myself however I want. What you saw is just my natural body language, and I’m definitely not changing it because of one silly comment. Maybe go tell all Italians you don’t like their hand gestures-it’s literally how they express themselves. I’m not Italian, but it’s a great example that being expressive with your hands isn’t unusual. If you don’t like it, just don’t watch. Simple as that.

What if someone has a tattoo on his bum? Would they check your bum during the interview?

I mentioned in the video that they only check visible areas for scars (face, neck, hands, legs). Other parts of your body that are covered by the uniform can have whatever you want.

I think most of the rules are reasonable. Not shocking. Seems like a rebel.
@JetstreamGinger20 күн бұрын
Why rebel? I’m not saying anything bad about the rules, just that they exist. And yeah, they can be shocking for people outside aviation, like the pregnancy rule or no poppy seeds. This video isn’t meant to make the company look bad, it’s just sharing info about the rules so anyone thinking of applying knows what to expect)) I’ve flown with plenty of new crew who joined thinking it’s all free travel and fun, only to realize there’s actual work involved and some pretty strict rules. It’s better to know upfront than to join and quit after two months 😉
@thomasryan931520 күн бұрын
@JetstreamGinger Because you went to Andorra when you was suppsed to be close to where you were to be based and took part in extreme activity when you was not supposed to. I have a few relatives who work or have worked for other major airlines. Similar rules apply. The poppy seeds issue is not new to me.
@JetstreamGinger20 күн бұрын
@@thomasryan9315 Oh, I see what you mean. Well, I joined Emirates mainly to travel and never saw it as a lifelong career, so yeah, I took that risk 🤷♀️ But honestly, it’s not uncommon-crew often explore and go on tours during layovers. Everyone knows the rule: if you’re not fully ready and on time for your flight, that’s on you, and you’ll face the consequences. As for Andorra, that was during a really long layover, and I got back to the hotel more than a full day before my flight, so it wasn’t irresponsible at all)) Plus, I’ve never had any attendance issues, so I don’t think I was a rebel 😅

@Faust129722 күн бұрын
Sorry, but do you even know what an ‘accent’ is? I suggest you work on your English and understanding if you want to become a cabin crew. 😉
@JetstreamGinger22 күн бұрын
I advise you to use subtitles or find another KZbinr whose accent you understand better. First of all, if you want to work as a crew member, you’ll need to be comfortable with different accents. And mine is not strong, and I’ve never had issues with people understanding me. Secondly, your comment comes across as passive-aggressive and seems more like an attempt to offend me. In that case, I don’t mind at all😁 My accent simply reflects the fact that I speak more than one language-four, to be exact)

@JetstreamGinger22 күн бұрын
Hey!) If the scars are barely visible and people don’t notice them unless you point them out, it shouldn’t be an issue. Scars generally become a concern only if they are noticeable.
