Hugh can shower in that space, I couldn't and I doubt that many others could. This is definitely a van for a man.👍

Looks fantastic but I'd lower that bed by 2 - 3 inches. Those edge panel stripes, between wall and roof, maybe do button-tucked padded vinyl ??
@HughTube3 жыл бұрын
I am going to see how we get on with the mattress as it’s thicker than planned. We can’t drop the bed frame any more due to wanting to fit a bike under. But cheers for the idea about the padded vinyl! Will look into that!

Bungy cord in place of a metal bar on shelves might be worth considering.
@HughTube3 жыл бұрын
was considering this as well tbh!

While I am not a fan of overhead lighting (I might have installed it on top of the shelves, at the rear, for bounce lighting), your planning and execution is surprisingly excellent for someone under the age of 65.. LOL!

Great job. After watching I tried looking for the clip showing how did your ceiling. Cant find it. I was trying to see if I could copy yours. Can you help
@HughTube3 жыл бұрын
Ah sorry if this wasn’t included I actually will be showing myself doing the same thing to the rear doors. I put 3mm ply on the ceiling, painted it a dark colour then I would take a slat and glue one side then hold in position (having someone help hold makes a huge difference) and use a pin gun (or hammer and pin nails) to pin to ceiling. Once the first was in place I used a 6mm shim/spacer and lined it up next to the other slat and pinned in place while moving the spacer down to ensure and even distance between the slats

Hugh - sorry to say that I’m a bit disappointed that we haven’t seen much of the recent work on the Boxer. You made the kitchen and the seating/spare bed units in the workshop and then nothing - not even how you installed the bed or the shower unit. But you acknowledged that in the vlog so I hope we will see any further work properly from now on, so I can continue learning how to do things. The shower unit particularly interested me, not least because you’ve installed the base of it so it runs across the gateway into the cab without explaining why you’ve done it that way. I’ve been considering installing a pocket door from the shower to the cab - there’d be a shower curtain across the pocket door for extra protection from water, but I think it could work. What do you think? Finally, I seriously think your shower tray needs a decent lip around it so you step ‘into’ the shower. Otherwise any water is going to overflow into the rest of the van, in my view. I’m not sure I understand your logic about why you believe your wet room floor can ‘hold’ several litres of water when there’s nothing to contain it?
@HughTube3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jane, no problem yeah sorry I skipped a few parts a long the way. The size of the tray will all come clear hopefully if my idea works out. A pocket door would be awesome to see in a shower, have you considered a shower tambour door? I am still toying with adding a lip even if it was 20mm but do not worry I will keep everyone up to date with progress and show you where I go wrong and where I go right hahaha
@janemack19333 жыл бұрын
@@HughTube Excellent. I have indeed considered a tambour door, although a shower curtain for added protection from water would also be required, I think. The driver’s backrest would also need to fold forward so one could clamber over it into the cab. Essentially, it would just be a ‘secret’ access for emergencies anyway. I’m sure it’s feasible. Could work in your Boxer too. (P.S. Thanks for not minding my frankness).

Super work. Thanks for the hint about tanking membrane, just what I've been looking for. What did you use for the black lines between the cedar ceiling strips?

It is mad how hated camper vans are in England. I understand there is the small amount of people that ruin it for others by littering and doing other horrible stuff but every country I have been to in a van England is by far the most hostile
