That Hublot line had me straight rollin. Mclaren’s are fragile pieces of crap. I know Ferrari and Porsche have there own quirks and they can be dicks too but at least they support their owners going out and flogging the hell out of the cars. Mclaren finds out you are using a sports car for sport car reasons and they cancel your warranty? Yeah that’s a huge red flag.

im actually kinda in the middle with this one. he buys the red 570s brand new from what he said. and then use it as their rental track day fleet, and i assume that he didn't disclose that in the begining of the deal with the dealer? from the dealer/manufacturer perspective, you will try to rip them off too right? if every damage that the harsh usage of the car is claimed and warranted, UNDER A NOT 'SANCTION' USAGE of fair use in the warranty or the deal. and you will keep 'trashing' the car, you wont stop, because you think youre smart you trick the dealership. and make the dealership paid for it. for all of its given context, mclaren just dont want to be connected with YOUR liability. in context of his ownership (claims, services etc.) and after his ownership. bcs the car that used that hard is going to be a lemon. I think the 'value' in the service XX provides is really two-fold: 1) people who can't afford to own a supercar can experience one 2) people who maybe can afford a Huracan, 488, GT3, etc and part of the equation is how they feel on a track or when pushed at least a little bit have the option to try before they buy. For less than a grand you can get a lot of seat time in a way that you would not get on a dealer test drive, and could spare you some serious buyers remorse if you'd been weighing one vs. another. It would be better to get permission from the company first and be honest with your intentions. The worst a company can say is no, but by asking first you are telling them what your intensions are and if they are okay with someone buying one and using it outside of the norm. Most automakers don't care.

This video was awesome and thanks for sharing! My Brother-in-Law signed up to drive the 570 at Pitt Race a couple years back and they weren't able to make it happen based on logistics. He still had an awesome experience. The 570 was there when I was at Pitt Race in the summer of '21 and I wish I would have asked about doing that as my 4th car that day... especially now that I know what I know after this video. I had an awesome time at Xtreme Xperience and hope to be back there again soon!

I was lucky enough to drive the black 570S during their event in Indy. It may be a maintenance nightmare however that car is amazing! It was glued to the track with excellent performance, I passed several other cars during my 3 laps 😜 Thanks for having it even for a short time as I likely will never have another opportunity to drive a McLaren especially on track.

Guy runs a business where people can rag his cars on track all day every day, lies to the manufacturer when it breaks, and then is upset when they do their due diligence and find out what he's actually doing (which is devaluing the car) and act accordingly. Did I get that right?

This is exactly why I passed on an MP4-12C. Love McLarens but I don't love the reliability issues. Ended up building a Corvette, pushing over 1k HP. It isn't an exotic in the US market (maybe in Ethopia, rofl), but at least I can tune it and fix it myself, and it's still a ton of fun. I sure would love a modified 765 though.

I'm a firm believer in "I bought it, its mine, you don't get to tell me what I can and can't do with it." However, you also can't expect them to honor a warrantee on something used in a way they didn't intend. If you used, for example, a snow blower, to dig a trench, and then expected the manufacturer to honor the warrantee, you're nuts. But they should still be willing to sell you parts for it. Why not? You're going to be their best customer after all.

On one hand, McLaren should have a "rental racing" warranty plan, more expensive, of course. It benefits their brand to have people trying out their cars, even if the car amortization is about to be higher. On the other hand, this is a sports car, not a race car. It can race, but is not designed to do so all the time. Hiding its use from the manufacturer, and from the next customers is not cool.

I'm pretty sure the dealer and manufacturer had seen your kind of scammer before and out scammed you because they've been around the block more than a few times before you showed up. You're a fine example of why I'll never buy one of these fancy over priced sports cars used or new.

Moss Magnuson Warranty Act says the onus is on McLaren for proving how his usage caused the issues. Company cannot simply void a warranty cuz you do something outside of their expected parameters when purchasing something. As the owner, you can do whatever you want with something, manufacturer may not think it's normal, but that isn't their decision. Sounds like McLaren needs to meet the US legal system.
