In today's video we are working in our laundry room of our 1988 Palm Harbor 14 x 70 single wide mobile home. We demolish the entire room and walls in preparation of repairing the floor, rebuilding the walls, and making it all better. Let's go!

We broke down and ordered a 10x16 tiny house/ shed with a little front porch and two lofts for storage for my 16 year old to have some privacy. It also gives us a place to put our large refrigerator and washer/dryer set up temporarily to keep our sanity. He can have his desk and his computer set up, a hammock on the front porch and I may even pick up a cheap futon. In case one of his friends wants to visit.

Good morning Ally! You soooooo got this!! The 1st DIY I took on in my mobile home, 30 years ago,(I was 27) was tearing out all the lower kitchen cabinets. Back in the day, plywood was cheap, cabinets were not, so I got some 2×4's and plywood, a sheet of countertop and glue, reused the drawers and doors of my old cabinets and painted it all white. Didn't have a clue what I was doing but I knew I was taking out the rotten cabinets! My sons were 2 and 10. It turned out great!! GO FOR IT!! Keep us updated!

I learned a sad but valuable lesson about stackables. Make sure they can be separated in case one breaks down. The ones I had couldn't be separated and that was a problem when the washing machine quit working. Turned out to be cheaper to buy a used washer than repair it. Then the problem was finding space for the new one. Just wanted to offer up my own experience. Enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing 💕

My friend did something similar. Tore apart a mobile home and is completely rebuilding it to his likes. This way you each have a custom home that works for your family. Great 👍 job. Love seeing you two ❤️

From what I have heard over time, people typically don't end up liking stackable washer/dryers. If you have the ceiling height you might consider a front load washer and dryer and stack them. Just food for thought. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

I wish I had your energy. We bought 1 acre with a ‘72 dbl wide in need of a ton of repair. I am 74 and do what I can. Rotted floors, joists, studs, plumbing, etc. Living in our camper too.

Just a thought, you said the old yellow insulation was okay. Why not repurpose it for soundproofing the interior walls? It would be free and might help with some privacy or at least insulate the sound of the washer dryer from the house.

We completely removed the wall for our laundry room and water heater area, installed a tankless water heater, expanded the kitchen into all of that wasted space. Going to make a stackable unit enclosed in the new kitchen area using the original washer hose box and electrical wiring with a pony wall and some antique doors with frosted glass that being used for a back door to the porch similar to the track style double doors hinged in the middle I've seen on closets and laundry areas. Really opened up our kitchen, also removed a closet that was intruding on dining room space. That water heater area had untouched wallpaper since it left the factory that looked new lol!

I do hope in the corner for your new washer and dryer, that you put in a washing machine tray to catch any leaks of water and funnel it out as you want so that if it ever overflows or gets clogged it won’t ruin all this hard work you’re putting in by ruining the floors. I think you guys are really doing a super job and working very hard to fix this unit up.
