I recently discovered your channel and I am so grateful! My husband had a major heart attack 4 weeks ago at the age of 57. He and I already ate pretty healthy but very meat based. We are now on a much more comprehensive path in terms of our health. I am learning so much from you. I don't think I'll be successful convincing my husband to go vegetarian but he is open to 2 nights a week meatless dinners! Thank you for all the great information and tips. You are changing lives!

Salt actually increases water's boiling point and so makes it boil slower. If you are adding salt for taste, wait for water to boil and then add the salt.

Officially subscribed-- love this channel, I can't stop watching! You're the first person I've found who's pretty much said it's okay to eat heavier meals at night. I eat dinner late (7pm) and it's always heavy bc that's how I was raised and I always felt defeated because I could never step away from it. Thank you for showing us it can be done in a simple and healthy way! XO.

I just stumbled upon your previous breakfast video from this series and immediately watched the lunch and then this video. I took notes and am on my way to the grocery store now. I just have to say, I am incredibly grateful for these videos. I'm a new vegan and trying to go as healthy as possible. I've been scouring KZbin to gain knowledge and I've had to take all of it with a grain of salt. But you are so immensely knowledgeable and break it all down so simply for us to understand. This is exactly what I've been needing. I, of course, hit that subscribe and notification button and will be binge watching all of your videos and telling everyone they NEED to do the same. Thank you thank you 🙌👏

I so agree with you about eating good carbs and not being afraid of carbs. I learnt this from Dr McDougall and I see you apply the same principles too. Good carbs keep me satiated and help me lose weight. When I was on high protein, low carb I was miserable and kept wanting to snack because my body was craving carbs.

One Basil plant can literally give you over a gallon of pesto throughout the year. Keep the plant on the porch or veranda, if you live in a condo, like I do, make pesto and freeze it. I pour the pesto into ice cube trays then once it is frozen put the cubes in freezer bags. I take 2-3 cubes out at a time and add them to my cooking. They are great in soups, delicious on sandwiches and, of course, scrumptious in sauces. Thank you for the "Braggs" nutritional yeast seasoning tip. Eating raw vegetables before eating a meal is a really good tip. Your meat tip is really good too, however, i don't think I could give up my fish. Especially Salmon and trout. I was just talking to a friend about stopping all meat and chicken. I rarely eat them anyway but my fish is going to be a hard one to deny myself. For me, there is nothing more delicious than salmon and asparagus or trout and a good healthy salad for dinner. Carbs cause secretion of insulin which cause insulin resistance over time and obesity. 80% of Americans are struggling with insulin resistance and in a lot of cases full blown diabetes. We all have a responsibility to get that word out to people. Insulin resistance and diabetes is an epidemic and both can lead to so many health problems for the body. Too many carbs are not a good idea. It is very important to pick and choose carefully what carbs you are going to incorporate into the body. The lower the amounts of grams the better. Rice and potatoes are high in grams. The only time you NEED a potato or rice or sugar is when that it is the only food left on earth. Sugar should be considered poision by the FDA, if you think about what it does to the body. On a better note, your pasta dish looks and sounds amazing. I highly recommend getting a basil plant and make your own pesto to add to the amazing pasta you just made. Thank you for sharing it with us.

What is the reason for avoiding gluten if you don't have a gluten allergy? I've heard that if you avoid it you can end up building an intolerance to it, is that true??
@lvncsr61666 жыл бұрын
dr. McDougall said not to if you don't have a problem.
@rockchica096 жыл бұрын
There's no reason for avoiding gluten altogether if you aren't intolerant. It isn't smart to eat gluten with every meal though, you know bread for breakfast and lunch, pasta for dinner. Best thing would be to mix things up, you know wheat/spelt, rice, quinoa, oats... This way it is easiest to get a good variety of nutrients and avoid overconsumption of anything that might have negative effects if eaten too often. Balance and moderation is key. Same goes for dairy. Cutting out food groups entirely always carries the risk of deficiencies, so you should only do it if you really need to, because you have an intolerance/allergy or ethical reasons.

You mentioned eating some raw veggies 20 minutes before you eat your actual dinner meal. Is that the same advice for someone who doesn't have a gallbladder? I have an impaired ability to digest due to my recent lack of a gallbladder. Also, as far as my pasta goes, I eat about 1/4 to 1/3 of a cup of pasta only, but I load it down with dehydrated "zesty cheese" flavored kale. Then I put veggie sausage on top of that and then pasta sauce on top of that with some extra nutritional yeast. It's so filling and yummy that way.
