Almost all of the Jedi are war criminals, so hating on Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars Legends material and the Prequels is just foolish because the only Jedi that aren’t war criminals are the Grey Jedi that Disney and Fox Entertainment refuses to make in films/tv series.

They're just literally Jedi who abide by the will of the force instead of by the will of the council or the Republic, like Qui Gon (I.E. how the Jedi SHOULD behave, but don't.). In other words, they aren't restrained by some government and are free to mediate/settle disputes across the galaxy as they see fit. Problem is though, that also means they're more prone to temptation to the dark side. So yeah, maybe they aren't war criminals, but they still have plenty of opportunities to be scummy people if given the chance.
