@Seriously_Unserious3 жыл бұрын
I agree, not even Sauron would be so stupid as to allow all fertile lands to be ruined and polluted. His empire could not exist if there's no one to rule over, and once those he rules face an existential threat like starvation, they'll become far less compliant, maybe even downright rebellious. It's a known fact that lack of access to food is one of the most sure ways of triggering a rebellion in real life history. Sauron would not want that sort of chaos, so he'd ensure sufficient arable farmlands are left fertile enough to feed his empire and keep his subjects fat and compliant. For that reason, I think Sauron would probably enslave the hobbits of The Shire, but not kill them, he'd get the reports of how fertile their lands are and how good they are at farming them and The Scouring of The Shire would have been done by Sauron's Empire rather then "Sharky" and his ragtag band of thugs. The hobbits would be slaves with little hope of obtaining freedom and would work Mordors farms in The Shire to feed the northwestern parts of the Empire.

I think it more likely that once the Elves realize there's little hope of victory, as many as possible would set sail as fast as possible to the Undying Lands. Those who were too far away, cut off or couldn't fit on any ships by the time Sauron's forces made it to the last of the Elven coastal realms would be the ones who would die, and that would be The Grey Heavens. I would expect Sauron's final assault on The Grey Heavens to be a 2 pronged attack, with his armies coming in from the landward side, and his navies from to besiege the harbors, essentially trying to box the Elves in. A few may make a break for it by ship, and try to run the blockade, and a some would likely even get through, but many would be sunk in their last desperate escape attempt. Some of the ones who got through would likely be pursued by Sauron's navy, and some would be caught and sunk out at sea. The rest would reach the Undying Lands, the last free elven people to do so. A few may attempt to run the land blockades, and again a few would make it through, but again, most would be cut down. I would expect pockets of resisting or hiding elves, men and dwarves to remain in the far corners of Middle Earth for some time.

Meanwhile, Tolkien's Fourth Age, the Dominion of Men, was foretold to have ended in the Dagor Dagorath, the final battle when Morgoth would return and the Music of the Ainur would end. In a world dominated by Sauron, it may be that this end would still take place. As in the Second Age, Sauron might still look for a way to defeat the Valar, even though Aman the Blessed Realm had been removed from the circles of the world. Perhaps Sauron would have allowed Melkor to return, but Melkor would still want to dominate or destroy Sauron's rule. This might lead to the Valar, or even Iluvatar, deciding the Music had faltered and it had to be ended. Thus would come Dagor Dagorath, and the empire of Melkor -- or Sauron -- would see its final end in a great catastrophe, greater even than the War of Wrath that had defeated Morgoth.

There’s only 3 Things the could possibly defeat Sauron at this point, one is the Vallar which are like the gods of Middle Earth, the second is Urgust the Dragon and finally the Orcs themselves. I mean all it took was a guy with a broken Sword 🗡 to defeat Sauron in the first place. So basically anyone could get lucky and cut off his Finger again, unless he decides to wear a Toe Ring.
@tominiowa25133 жыл бұрын
Forget what you saw in a movie and read the books. Sauron was already dead (in physical form) when Isildur cut off his ring finger. The Valar would not fight Sauron, but rather delegate that work to Maia led by Eönwë (just as they did in the War of Wrath). And of course Eru Ilúvatar could just think Sauron out of existence.

Sauron's World The Mouth of Sauron detailed Sauron's plan to the Fellowship at the Black Gates 1. Everything east of the Anduin River belongs to Sauron (Mordor, Rhun, Easterling Nations, etc). 2. Rohan will no longer have arms but be allowed to keep their independence as long as they pay tribute to Mordor. 3. The Nazgul and Sauron's generals will be governors over important conquered lands. 4. Sauron had no interest in the Hobbits but Frodo and Bilbo's acts angered Sauron. Sauron will make the Hobbits his slaves and laborers as he sees them as unimportant. 5. The Haradrim and Rhun Military will occupy the conquered nations rather than the orcs who are unstable beings. 6. The Orcs will remain in their own orc domains and east of the Anduin River due to their chaotic nature and being in no state to oversee conquered lands. 7. It will be a dark peaceful rule under Sauron who will be Middle Earth's God King till the end of time.
@phoenixmilburn87593 жыл бұрын
Its weird to think that Sauron is actually the one fighting against hopless odds in the Lord of the Rings movies in the long run he actually was outmatched by the Valar power wise 100 to 1 and by Eru Bassicly Infnity to 1 so ya he might have pushed out characters armies all the way back to the grey havens and The dearven halls of the blue mountain is where the final battle would be and then just as sauron faces off against all the named characters The Valar and Eru would show up and WRECK sauron
@IPlayWithFire1353 жыл бұрын
But then, that's what the lore tells us. A being like Sauron must know something about the universe that we don't or he would never attempt to do what he did. Perhaps Eru and the Valar are not as powerful as we are told, or at any rate not any longer.

@@IPlayWithFire135 - Read Catholic theology on why God lets evil exist in the world, and you will have your answer (Tolkien was a follower of the theology of Aquinas).

@@tominiowa2513 So what is the reason, in the briefest way you can explain it?
@tominiowa25133 жыл бұрын
@@IPlayWithFire135 - One reason is God/Eru would be interfering with free will if He eliminated evil. Another is that for Christians (and Men in Arda) the divine rewards/punishments are in the afterlife and not in this world. Struggles may also be rewarded with Providence in this world, e.g., Frodo had used up all his strength to get the One Ring to the Sammath Naur (aka Cracks of Doom), so when he was overpowered by the One Ring and put it on claiming it as his own, Eru intervened to make sure it was destroyed (Gandalf and Aragorn leading a suicide mission if Frodo and Sam failed also likely contributed to Eru granting providence).
@IPlayWithFire1353 жыл бұрын
@@tominiowa2513 I see. Still, since as you say, Tolkien was a follower of this theological perspective, perhaps that explains this apparent shortcoming on the explanation of evil from the point of view of evil, given an omnipotent God, (or Eru) because all religious notions would share it. Evil is just sort of there because it needs to be for the human moral significance of it, not for any practical ends of its own, given that it can't defeat God, and a being such as the devil (or Sauron) would be very aware of that. To a non-Catholic mind the problems jump out. That leads to one of two very awkward resolutions to the problem of evil. Either Satan/Sauron can defeat God/Eru, or they are in league with God, not just in the sense that their actions ultimately serve God's designs, like Morgoth's discord, but intentionally. The thinkers of the enlightenment figured out that you can't keep both omnibenevolence and omnipotence in your conception of God in a world with evil. Not without a Christian leap of faith against one's own reason, or some kind of argument that the forces of evil are an attempt to assert their own freedom, damn the consequences.

Well, he could just kill everything and turn Arda into a moonscape and rule over THAT. But anything SHORT of that would require the allowing of SOME freedom or pleasure. I mean if he allowed sunshine and sex and bunny rabbits to EXIST, if only for practical purposes, that's SOMETHING. I guess he could assign one orc to every human to constantly whip him/her for spite, but how would he feed all of them?
@LoreOfTheRingsYT3 жыл бұрын
With his slave plantations that would be no problem :)
@penultimateh7663 жыл бұрын
@@LoreOfTheRingsYT Hmmm..Yeah. But the plantations we know about probably had less than one orc per slave. So, like slavery in our world, his slaves must at least be able to sleep. And he would have to feed them. The would have to be able to develop SOME culture, songs, etc. And if he wants to keep ruling SOME group more than one generation, he'd have to allow sex.

I don't agree with the idea that "the people of Gondor would have been executed due to their ancient rivalry" with Sauron. In the books the Mouth of Sauron listed as one of his master's terms that "the rabble of Gondor and its deluded allies will withdraw beyond the Anduin, first taking oaths never again to assail Sauron the Great in arms, open or secret." Even then Sauron understood the great capacity of the men of the west, even in their diminished state, as potential, future allies and he did not seek to eliminate them but to tame them. He sought order...nit genocide. That is one of the problems I have with the films. They turn Sauron's motives onto their head. He certainly wasn't seeking to make Orcs the predominant race, he was seeking to dominate men and dwarves and eventually to eliminate orcs, who he recognized as nearly worthless, from his worldview.

And thus the Fourth Age of Middle Earth begun..... But it wasn't the Age of Men. It was an age were Men and the rest of the Children of Iluvatar were slaves to the Watchful Eye of Mordor. An age were the Dark Lord has fulfilled his purpose of putting order in Middle Earth. An age were the descendants of the once Free Peoples would worship Sauron as their god-king and honor his reign, rejecting the Valar. An age of shadows, slavery, fear and dread. The Age of Orcs, as spoken by the Dark Lord himself in Dol Guldur and it will endure forever until the final battle begins and the Second Music of the Ainur is sung, turning Arda back to the light of its true God, Eru Iluvatar.

Sauron would elevate his subjects life expectancy. He wouldn’t have them living in slums. Since he values Efficiency and order. He would most likely get rid of the orcs or perhaps they could be domesticated. Sauron shows us that the Easterlings and orcs have a ordered disciplined society that values technology and innovation.
