This would be one of the best gout videos I’ve ever seen. Glad to see a doctor stress the dangers of sugar, instead of an over emphasis on meat and seafood. I would rank this presentation up with the best like Dr. Berry’s gout video.

This is by far the best video I have seen! These are all spot on points/ advise! I’ve lost 35 pounds, all veggies, mega ph 9.5 water, supplements, and 8 hours of sleep! The combination of eating, exercising and sleeping has been transformative for my gout

One thing I have noticed is people say a hot Epsom salt soak helps, but research shows Epsom salt does nothing, and another Dr. said the crystals like a cold area, so I decided heat was the key. So I started wrapping a heating pad around my toes every time I saw sitting, with feet raised above body level, and some times ever slept with it wrapped around my toes. And this time it did not hurt as bad, and did not last as long. So this is now a go to treatment for me. Will add, I do not eat very much of the foods that are suppose to be bad, actually very little, no seafood, nor do I drink etc, so not sure why I have this issue.

I had gout for years it would flare up in my knees, finally after seeing three or four doctors I was diagnosed correctly, I was instructed to loose weight, quit drinking beer, whiskey and leave the shellfish alone. I have been pain free for several years even though I drink a beer every now & then. Great video - I can really relate to the pain.

I was currently diagnosed with possible gout and have been in perfect shape/fitness most of my life. I don't abuse anything said to be a possible culprit. I'm in the process of finding out what the heck is causing it. I was afraid that my suplemental protein intake had something to do with it, but I have taken them for a pretty long time and haven't heard much about that either. Seeing my MD soon for more tests.

If it makes you feel better, probably the majority of the time people think it's gout, but it's probably not gout 😀. Even an elevated uric acid level means not much. Best test is symptoms and swollen joint, with joint tap

So I understand my underlying issue is that I am in kidney failure and that is when my gout started a couple years ago, but my Uric acid levels are rarely super high. The last test had me at 6.0 and I take Allopurinol, but I have gout attacks a few times a week! My hypoglycemia and need for sugar to keep my glucose up is making my life hell. Having my first surgery March 5th to have the gout scraped out of my right foot. It’s got to be less painful than a gout attack, right?

I would guess that Vienna sausages, especially those in a can would have high sugar content or other types of simple carbs. Pure meat in itself has not been an issue for me, but once I add sugar, gout arrives.

Thanks Doctor, very good video and correct by my experience! I have suffered from gout, high uric acid and Osteo arthritis for many years and processed sugar must be the worst for me. However, I changed my lifestyle and am now at a healthy body weight and mostly have a healthy diet, only meat I eat is some fish a couple times a week, maybe 1-2 alcoholic drinks a week, but I still am getting mild attacks of gout in the metatarsal joints and lasting for some time. I feel it could be related to stress which is causing inflammation...can you provide some insight into this?

Thanks for the great response, Anthony. Overloaded joints are just about 10x more likely to suffer a gout attack. I would focus on taking pressure off those joints with a good shoe and insole and seeing how much it improves over a month or 2; I bet the improvement would be perfect. I saw a doctor and he is calling it gout. Started with a little pain on a tuesday and by Thursday it was a 10/10 pain and couldn’t walk. I am typically healthy. Don’t drink. Work out often. I hope it is gout though. I traveled out of town a few weeks ago and had travellers diarrhea and i believe this might have caused the attack but again unsure. 10 days later swelling is still there. On day 3 of prednisone 20mg tablets. Some difference but not as fast as i would like. It sucks being in the house not able to do much. I just want to get back to my lifting routine. Please help

I noticed he said if the pain comes on gradually, it probably isn’t gout. I have had attacks in the past where I’m good, then all of the sudden.. bam. Extreme pain. Family hx of gout, uric acid was high. Lately, the attacks have changed. I will be mildly sore mid foot, side of foot, ankle. Then it, over the course of a day or two, swells up where I cannot walk. But it moves around.. right mid foot, ankle, left big toe, left mid foot, etc. I’ve been testing it like gout. What else could it be?

Fructose, not meat causes the problem. Fructose goes to the liver to be stored as fat (NAFLD), the other major a byproduct of fructose processing is uric acid. STAY AWAY FROM ALL SUGAR. Neither Meat nor seafood play a significant part of uric acid levels. just change the diet, keep in mind, fructose is a low glycemic index, but it is more dangerous than glucose. MANY THANKS FOR THE VIDEO. It's nice to hear the truth, but fatty meat is better, we are designed to run on fat, not carbs.

I know this subject very well so am kind of disappointed in some of the inaccurate things he says, now I don't know how much I can trust his other videos! Not all Gout cases are classic! - I had low level toe pain for a YEAR before I had a full-blown attack. - I never drank alcohol nor ate non veg food. - I was super fit, lean and sporty. - I consumed an excellent whole plant food based diet. - I was in my 30s - My kidneys worked normal ______________________________________________ Gout has a big GENETIC side to it. My father and grandad both had Gout. Btw, my Gout was confirmed by joint fluid test.
@DrTomBiernacki
@DrTomBiernacki Жыл бұрын
You are 100% correct that it can be genetic, but this is for less than 10% of people. This is called an overproducers. Generalling this is the genetic component, but not the majority: There are two main categories of gout based on the underlying cause of this imbalance: underexcreters and overproducers. Underexcreters: Underexcreters are individuals who have difficulty excreting enough uric acid from their body, leading to its accumulation in the bloodstream and subsequent crystallization in the joints. This can be due to problems with the kidneys, which are responsible for filtering and excreting uric acid. Kidney dysfunction or certain medical conditions can hinder the proper elimination of uric acid, contributing to gout. Underexcreters tend to have higher levels of uric acid in their blood. Overproducers: Overproducers are individuals who produce an excessive amount of uric acid. This can occur due to the body's increased production of uric acid from purine metabolism. Purines are natural compounds found in certain foods and are also produced by the body. When there is an overproduction of uric acid, the kidneys might not be able to eliminate it quickly enough, resulting in the buildup of uric acid crystals in the joints. Overproducers tend to have elevated levels of uric acid in their blood. It's important to note that the distinction between underexcreters and overproducers is not always clear-cut, and many cases of gout involve a combination of both factors. Genetic predisposition can play a role in determining an individual's tendency to be an underexcreter or an overproducer. Gout management typically involves a combination of lifestyle changes (such as dietary modifications to reduce purine intake, weight management, and increased hydration), medications (to lower uric acid levels or manage pain during flare-ups), and addressing any underlying conditions that might be contributing to the imbalance.
