My theory: During the construction /and testing of Mettaton Neo as Mettatons FIRST FORM he had no idea that he was actually being built for human eradication, or at least when he DID find out while having become a small rising *STAR* *he wanted Alphys to alter the neo form to something more subtle via "Ex form" This is why his head/face resembles neo's only with his hair covering the ... eye. Anyways since it would take alphys a long time to downgrade to another robotic form she built a backup body that we see as the *Mettaton box form*. But since the human showed up in the underground to *early*, Alphys never had time to fully work out both forms transactions. So more *attack* was left in *Mettaton neo* while the *defensive* mechanism was transferred into the *ex version*. So my conclusion: Mettaton neo and Mettaton ex are 2 versions of the same robot and are both wrapped up inside the inside of the box form. BUT if we finish the Asriel battle and walk all the way back to Napstablook and Mettatons old home, he presents us with his *FINISHED FORM* which is actually just the ex from with probably all the remaining important functions removed from "neo" and put into "ex".

Well, if you remember, MTT said that he wants to get even higher ratings by leaving The Underground and becoming a star for humans. Maybe that's why his EX form is so humanlike and also so appealing.

Well in a sense, yes. Asriel is the most powerful character. Fused with every other human soul and the souls of 1,000 monsters, he is literally a god. But Asriel just absorbed the souls. Any monster can absorb all the souls. While mettaton would be more like omega flowey, he would still be considered a god. And probably stronger than omega flowey, as he was a flower fused with determination, and not an actual monster. But if mettaton had gotten a hold of the souls first, he would have likely been the most powerful character in the game.

Neo is beast, so the final form would be op af. Now, I have reason to believe that MTT Neo was, at one point, as powerful as The Undying. He says that his Neo form was never FULLY removed, meaning it was started to be removed, but then Alphys stopped removing it. Alphys would most likely start with the defense when removing it, since Mettaton was a star, he wouldn't get into many fights needing defense, and the previous humans had been relatively easily defeated. Neo would still need to have attack to destroy a human before they could attack him, so Alphys didn't remove that side. Once the human started to murder, there wasn't time to add his defense back, so Alphys just left him as he was.

I think that the development of mettaton's form went like this: Alphys wanted to impress asgore to get the job as the royal scientist,so she made happstablook the square body.just so asgore would think that she managed to create artificial intelligence and give her the job. Then,with the king's resources and the *cough* old scientist's laboratory,she created the "human eradication robot":mettaton NEO However,happstablook didn't think that body was photogenic enough (probably due to the intimidating laser cannon,creepy right eye and in-humanoid wing) so she wanted a purely humanoid body with fancy hair and fabulous legs.but alphys couldn't fix the energy consumption problems it had before the events of undertale. So...what do you think?

I don't think the word NEO symbolizes "new" in this case. Rearrange the letters N, E and O. What do you get? *N E O* *O N E* Mettaton NEO = Mettaton ONE In my theory, Mettaton NEO is a prototype version of Mettaton. This also means that the text "Dr. Alphys' greatest invention" which appears when checking Mettaton NEO may refer to Mettaton himself rather than simply his NEO form. What do you guys think? Does this make sense?

It has triple the health of omega flower, but -140000 defence or something like that if you look in the files, so basically the NEO form was suppose to be more powerful than omega flowey and basically would of been the hardest boss in game if it weren’t for its development being rushed in the genocide route, it’s one of the biggest let downs because if it weren’t for that flaw it probably would of been able to actually take down chara

Alphys strikes Back against Underlab.

Here's my idea: Alphys first sketched Mettaton Neo, however, although she kept working on it, she never truly completed it, as she had other things to do as well (her determination experiments, for example). She made Mettaton his box form so that he could have a body while she worked on his Neo form. Eventually, she made his EX form as a bridge between Mettaton's box form and his Neo form on his request, as fans were more familiar with the box form. She finished the EX form and attached it to the box form, adding a switch on the box form that could transform Mettaton into Mettaton EX. This happened right before Frisk fell into the Underground. In the genocide path, however, she realized the murderous potential in Frisk, and so, she attempted to finish Mettaton Neo before Frisk entered Hotland, adding more weapons (thus raising the ATK stat) so that Mettaton could protect them. She figured that she could explain it to him as 'the greatest episode ever where you show off the body I sketched for you at the very beginning'. Thus, while Frisk was roaming through Waterfall, she added Mettaton Neo to Mettaton's box form, despite forgetting all about the defenses. However, when Undyne the Undying didn't go by her name (get it, she died even though her title is 'the Undying'), Alphys changed her mind. She evacuated almost everybody in Hotland, with a few unlucky monsters getting killed by an extremely genocidal Frisk, and she tried to get Mettaton to hide with her and the other monsters (presumably in the True Lab), he didn't, wanting to fight Frisk to save those he cared about as Mettaton Neo. You know what happened from there.

I wonder if Mettaton/Happstablook wrote the entries in the True Lab that are all in lowercase. The only people who tallk and write in lowercase are Sans and ghosts. So maybe Happstablook agreed to be Alphys' lab assistnance in exchange of becoming corporeal as Mettaton.

A stupid question at thought What happened to the monsters after the end of the game. Like I know they went their separate ways as seen in the credits but specifically where did they live? After the war, were their home base removed from the world when they were taken underground, right? So where was there official base? (It's a stupid question because you don't have much info to rely on)
