Great video(or should I say treatise) on a subject many of us take for granted. While common sense would conclude the appropriate watch band to be picked-common sense is the least common of the senses for many of us. Your chosen examples visually make your points. There's nothing worse than having a remarkable watch that's not being complimented by having an appropriate band. Bravo on this video. On a subject some would easily dismiss as mundane this belongs with some of your best . I really appreciate the length(and effort) that has gone into the preparation and execution of this video.

I have, but those are usually more suitable for military-type watches. You're better off with something more dressy to match the watch, such croco pattern or something more casual with plain with stitching.

I love watching your channel as it’s extremely informative and professional. I’ve got a few Omega watches and my latest find is an original Seamaster 1948 bumper automatic cal 351 center second two tone dial in completely unrestored nicely but gently patinared condition and I absolutely adore it however, it’s on a cool 50s expander bracelet which is ok but I’d really would love to get an original buckle for this reference ,bit not sure the item reference or even size as lugs 18 and it might taper to 16 ? Also it would be nice to match an original looking strap made with the said buckle to complete the look . I’d love to send you a picture of it but not sure how to . Kind regards from sunny Cape Town.
@TimelessHistoryChannel9 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment. A 18mm strap usually taper to 16mm. 18mm to 18mm is not great looking. And 18mm to 14mm makes the watch appear like a lady’s watch. For original straps you can try www.ofrei.com

when looking at vintage watches online, is it common for the original strap to be the one included and does it help with the value of the watch? just assessing whether i should buy a vintage watch even if it does not have the ideal strap for my preference. Thanks!
@TimelessHistoryChannel10 ай бұрын
No. Original strap usually will not increase the value since they are most likely used and in poor condition. If it comes with the original bracelet, then depending on the brand and condition it can affect the value

@TimelessHistoryChannel2 жыл бұрын
@@skizzlemane1 Ohhh, lol. Because in the watch community, when you describe a piece as "frankin", it is fake or made up. The wrong strap, crown, or crystal does not make the watch a frankin. The calibre inside this watch is 645.

What about a gold watch with blue dial and gold markings? Just black or blue?
@TimelessHistoryChannel4 жыл бұрын
To match with the watch, blue would be best. Depending on the tone of the blue dial, if its shiny then stick to a shiny strap. Neutral colours will be black or brown. But if you want the dial to pop, then stick to a gold metal bracelet.
