What makes a character difficult

Everything that I believe makes a character difficult to play. It's an interesting topic that crosses multiple genres, but this video is fighting game focused. Let me know what you think makes a character hard to play.

I never played Lee because of how difficult it was to understand the mist steps and the instant standing trick with it. I felt I couldn't use him to the fullest, which was super demoralizing, so I gave up on him. Years later I decided to try him out once again, and I made it to Fujin with him. He's my main, all the tricks I used to fail at seem super easy and I do them without thinking, and I enjoy the game fully like that. It's bad that complexity can ruin your experience with a character. But as a teacher of mine once said: *"Everything's hard, until it gets easy."*

I just picked him up I have like a 10% win rate but it’s so fun. I actually don’t care much about losing I’m in for the swagg just frames combos. When I win even once I get a dopamine rush 😅😂

This reminds me of Naoto Kurogane from BBCF as being a well balanced character, since while he has a simple game plan, he has some of the highest difficulty in the game, this is due in part by his unique ability of enhancer, in which Naoto performs special moves or super moves while dashing, and when done correctly the character gains a blue silhouette and new properties (e.g. more hits). Additionally, doing ground normals while running/dashing and canceling into a special/super will give it Enhancer properties. Now it must be stated that these are EXTREMELY difficult to do in combos, and I even see players in tournament drop some of the more harder combos during a match with this character. There's even a joke in the BB community how playing Naoto causes arthritis in the hands from trying to do these inputs in quick succession. That being said, those that are able to master this execution gain access to High damage output ( above average without meter) and Very good corner carry and side-swap opportunities. This is all in addition to the great pressure tools with a decent overhead that leads to damage anywhere, strong cross-up potential, Solid defensive options with a great DP, a great reversal super and a decent anti-air. Don't get me wrong though, that the guy's not broken by any means, since he struggles in neutral, since his normals aren't that big, and lacks regular projectiles. Overall, an extremely balanced character with some of the swaggiest combos in the game, which is impressive, since this is a game where swaggy combos are the norm lol.

I almost always main low tiers in fighting games 😂 definitely makes life harder but I enjoy the challenge, plus sometimes there’s the advantage of the opponent not knowing the matchup

I main Armor King (...n King) on Tekken 7 and it was a real struggle trying to getting better, generatring more winings. In the end, it was just a study time and improve my fundamentals (and 90% of the time i get the max dmg combos), and i developed more patience to play...but still i have to face some terrible matchups, but u have to love your main xD...i think that's the funny moment. I never liked chars with no ejecution. I play Lee too but i need to improve my punishement Great content

I was interested in fahk so I played him in ranked for a few days. Pretty strong tools good range, not a lot of thinking. Then I picked up kazuya because I struggle to fight him and learned quickly that not only are his pokes not great, you need to take advantage of every mistake your opponent makes. Really showed me the scale of difficulty in Tekken.

I got linked this because the "best" character in under night is also the hardest character to learn. I don't think she's really hard, per se... I just hate charge characters and she isn't fun so I don't care about playing as her. I's rather pick beta bitch with the good boy, emo kid, or edgy air dancer instead. :)
