Nice vid Christo - one thing I've be looking at with all excellent players is - the left shoulder exits the swing super low - never up and behind. John is a great example.

Indeed. Great observation! 👍🏻

Classic. 30 years ago an old muni golf hustler used to hang with me on the range and his feel was always the trail knee kick for power. If I wanted to pitch the ball farther, he told me to kick the knee in harder.

Being a under and over player myself, this is entresting to me what John is describing what he feels anylized from what he sees of his own swing. I personally can't keep my lead arm fairly straight making a backswing without bringing the club inside but I sure can straighten it out coming down with my hands. And there's no mashing your spine in the ground just natural flow.

You should check out Mike Malaska's YT channel and his membership site. He has taught this for years and ran Jack Nicklaus golf academy's.

I am perplexed. Here Christo is a Hogan swinger, and switching to a swing style that is a “lasher” style. And I am not seeing an “over the top” first move. And from what I see if I were Christo I’d stick with the Hogan formula. If any changes try (1) getting more right elbow lift in the backswing (which requires a leap of faith to use a “hinging” action of the hands and arms at the shoulders) and (2) keeping the back to the target longer (which requires not lifting the right heel early and just facing the ball with the hips as a first move/shift into the downswing. And I am saying to embrace hands n’ arms swinging, and if you do it right you will look like a fully rotational swinger - and easier for a lighter weight person to pull off. I could say more but who’s listening?

I saw Jon Levitt play years ago in the Pasadena City Championship when he was an amateur. I must have been impressed because I still remember him.

Hi Christo. Your dear friend and coach Jon is right on the mark about using your trail knee more. I swear with my new swing I start my downswing with nothing else but a kick of my trail knee pointing straight down my intended target passing my lead knee at the finish of my swing. I recently saw a clip with Mike Austin teaching his your students this very same thing. Mike said to him: “No your turning you body with your knees: Now see here I want you to use your right leg as if you’re going to knee a midget in the balls!” Politically incorrect and in bad taste 😒 by today standard; but historically it drives home a point. Don’t you think❤️😃⛳️👍😂

WHY is the volume so low at the beginning, then up a bit on the voiceovers on these VIDEOS? Anyways, take a close look at his hips and shoulder turn, that's where he is really generating all the power.

Curious, does Jon use very flat lie angles?

Wow no early extension in his swing. How does he do that?

From the thumbnail the Jon Levit shows very little hip turning, looking like a “hands-n-arms” player, judging from the thumbnail.

Can he hit a draw if he wanted to? Seems like that would be pretty risky.

He can hit every shot but rarely needs to do something kooky.

One thing I noticed (halfway through the video) is that his lead knee is flexed/bent at impact. Not what they're teaching these days for sure.

You seem to be changing the common understanding of the term OTT. Is it deception to get more hits or sell videos? Stadler is another great example of hands moving out but the shaft is not OTT. You should explain to your viewers your definition of OTT and how it is different from every other coach/teacher.

He must have excellent clubface control. OTT or non-OTT, if you don't have the face under control you're doomed.

I have always been over the top and would typically shoot in the mid 80 scoring 80 a few times but could never break that barrier. Never had a lesson and got on you tube and the talk was your problem is over the top swing is bad. Did drill after drill and now I can't seem the even hit the golf ball anymore and my swing is totally screwed up and now you are saying over the top swing is the best. Omg.

I would not think over the top if your a slicer hooker. The double miss.IF I were to help you.Work on your alinement. The brain will cause you to swing over the top if the set up is bad. This over the top he is talking about is ever so slight at the top of the down swing. They are swinging from the inside. The clup head never gets out side unless there trying to fade the ball and it's ever so slight.Everone has fought swinging across the ball at some point learning the swing.most of the time it's the set up and there not using there lower body correct. There either over using it or not using it enuff. If you over use it you will spin out and swing across the ball and if your not using it enuff the shoulders will send the club across the line .PPLE THAT FIGURE THIS OUT CAN USAULLY FIX THERE SWING to some degree. Some can fix it completely.Iv been playing for 30 years and Iv never heard of this over the top swing until lately.make sure your alinement is good.Pick a spot between the ball and the target about two or three foot infront of the ball and set up on the spot.I would guess your are lined up way left. You can't fix over the top until you are lined up correct to your target. Then you can start to fix it.Get behind the ball and look and find that spot on the ground that forms a straight line between the ball and the target and the set up on the spot. The body will usually set up on that spot naturally if you set the botton of your iron lined up on that spot. The botton of the iron in the the part of the iron that set the club correctly.

no wonder john has a bad backi think asmhe swinga down his lower back moves funny...probably why he can play so well but it would hurt....your chiropractor would want you to swing like john so you would have to get your back fixed every week...unnatu ral l move
