I’ve sold on eBay for a number of years and it used to be quite good but since they started charging for the promoting of items it’s hopeless,I don’t even get any views on some items so I know they must be kept to the bottom of the pile.I don’t have the resources to want to do my own web site because it’s just a hobby of mine,I’m a collector / seller,so it’s not just business sellers who are disgruntled,unfortunately I’m thinking of packing it all in because it’s not worth my time☹️

Hi Raymond. Thank you for sharing your story, i am very sorry to hear it has affected you also, but i am not surprised. It is such a sad thing to see people who love collecting and selling feeling they have to give up, ebay have done so many changes over the years and they are focused on plain and simple if your not selling it for 99p with no reserve they arnt pushing you, they split the categories up to the point your items cant be found and they now have an algorithm that decides for people if they should see your items or not.

ebay will get you to constantly relist paying for all their services because you know the items are good, you know the price is good but cant find the right buyer, and ebay supposed to have millions of customers, did you see my hit rate on my website, hundreds of times better than ebay.

I'm not convinced. I've been selling antiques part time for 2 years and in dribs and drabs on ebay for 20 years and it has never been better and safer than it is now. I can honestly say I've pretty much never been scammed. I've had a couple where things have gone missing but it's just as likely it was lost or stolen prior it getting to its destination. Global shipping programme is a gift from God as far as I'm concerned. I sell all over the world with no stress or worry. If you've sold 216 items in 18 months - as a full time antique dealer (and most your items are small value 10s of £) then its not eBay that's your problem it's what your selling. I don't believe that at this level a personal website alone can compete with ebay. I would suggest your KZbin channel is fueling your sales (credit to you!)..

Thank you for your comment, and i totally respect your opinion. i have been on ebay since it started and its never been worse, and my sales 216 are more for the 12 month but most of my are in the hundreds of pounds not 10s, if you watched the film you will see that i showed the organic search results which were nothing to do with my channel, these were people looking for specific items through google, and you maybe getting good sales with ebay and if so well done, but there is no disputing the extremely high fees, one member has commented already his fees worked out at 40 percent of his turnover. so maybe a website isn't for you but it is another option for people who are struggling.

Also (and please don't take offence!) you might want to pay someone to check your spelling and grammer on your site as they're are numerous errors. It might potentially put people off / look unprofessional. (Happy to point some of these out privately if you like).

@@AntiquesArena I'm kind of hoping I'm wrong and am still digesting the rest of you video. The organic hits bit is very interesting. I've just been of the opinion that ebays global reach can't be rivaled by a website for a small time antiques dealer. I could be wrong i admit. I wonder if half my problem. Is I've got the 'dealer as a buyer mentality'.. I'll rarely buy at retail price because I know I can probably find it cheaper on ebay.. Perhaps the average Joe doesn't think like that 🤔

Jim there is no offence. I am dyslexic so use gramerly as best I can but please if you see any mistakes point them out. The whole point of the film through wasn’t to slag eBay off. I made a good living on eBay even with their fees. It’s the bigger picture building a future Having control over your business and not being scared of suspension or being thrown off eBay. No fees and extra ways to earn such as ad revenue. But any errors plz point them out

@@theacefacejames soMetimes if something is working for us we don’t need to consider any other options. But I have 15 k followers most in the reselling world and most are struggling with eBay and Etsy and the fees. Many are simply throwing it in so I am trying to show an alternative but if it works for you on eBay and your happy. Don’t fix it if it’s not broken

I had to go to the police about a buyer that sent back an empty box and kept a £1000 necklace , I eventually got my money back. However you can make a hell of a lot of money on Ebay if you follow the rules.

I am glad you got your money back. As for eBay yes you can make money but the fees are very high. As one comment says they have paid 40 percent of their turnover on fees

@@SBCMOFO I have never had one on my site Never had a return either I always make sure everything is clearly photographed and described and just been lucky I guess.

@@AntiquesArena Yes i suppose it depends what you sell , but there are a lot of crooks that purchase items via credit cards and then contact the credit card company to say there card was fraudulently used, They always side with the buyer too.

@@SBCMOFO thing is if the shipping address matches the card address and I go back to the card company the buyer can get in a lot of trouble then. With eBay the scams are so common it’s just accepted. Either that or I have a better class of customer because no one has tried it with me yet. But I would argue it with the card company direct

I don't trust PayPal, they froze my account for no good reason and it took me years to get the money that was left in it. You call and call and nobody helps, it's like they don't know what you"re talking about. Be very careful
