Hey all thanks for watching! Just a clarification, even set at 68 degrees the air coming out was so hot it could fry a turkey. We tried max temp, but when it’s this cold it made no difference. Air temp isn’t an issue, it’s where that hot air is directed.

It’s a first year model, I used to never buy first years, but bought my 2020 Gladiator Rubicon last year. It has a soft top with winter package and I have had zero problems luckily. Did great in -30 degrees Minnesota last winter. The steering box has been upgraded from aluminum to steel so that wondering issue is fixable now.
@Ulfstigandr
@Ulfstigandr 3 жыл бұрын
The wondering issue is blown way out of proportion really, its more of a "having to adjust to the vehicles mannerisms" then anything. But nontheless there is a solution for it anyway, a kit to replace the electric powersteering pump with an engine driven pump like it should of had to start with. Also dont ever buy a Ford if you think jeep has customer service problems.

This is one area where Toyota 4Runners master Jeep Wranglers, 4Runners have great defrost as well as in windshield heaters similar to rear windows, both were the wipers sit at the bottom of the windshield as well as sling the side where the snow is pushed by the wipers. I live in NY and have never been disappointed by the defrost. I had a Dodge Ram 2500 that had great defrost but didn’t have the heated window. The heated front window is great.

I agree the vents could be positioned better. I'm up in Edmonton Alberta. So it gets really cold and snowy and I just clean of the windows and start it up and heat up the vehicle for about 10 or 15 minutes. Once it's warm enough inside just keep the wiper on according to the conditions and the windscreen will keep clear. No worries 👍

I think you mean form vs function, aesthetics vs mechanics. Good design is a balance of good user experience and good mechanics. For example, many engineers designed machines that worked mechanically but were too complex to use for average person. You want to take in to account ergonomics, intuitive, and aesthetics... However form should follow function. Form or aesthetics should not drive function.

This has been a well-known issue since at least September, 2018. See 29 pages of posts on JL Wrangler Forums: www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/question-regarding-the-windsheld-defrost.15276/ . It seems you have to plug some of the holes in the middle of the defrost vent so that air is directed to the outside vents. It is absolutely unbelievable, frustrating and VERY ANGERING, that Jeep engineers/designers cannot design a defroster that works properly and SAFELY on a vehicle with one of the smallest windshields of all the vehicles on the market today! Every car I've owned made after the '90s has the issue of icing the windshield wipers. Cars are now engineered to park the wipers lower in the cowl below the top of the dash where they are out of the wind, but unfortunately below the part of the windshield heated by the defroster. It's hardly something unique to that Jeep.

Just a tip. You can in the right conditions not use your wipers at all in a snowstorm. It works only below around 27 degrees, no road spray, mag chloride, etc, and dry snow. 1. Freeze your windshield. Use defrost without heat. 2.Clean the windshield of ice build-up with an ice scraper. 3. Keep the heat inside at a lower setting, floor vent only. A towel over your defrost vents is sometimes necessary to keep any heat off of your windshield. The snow will just bounce off your windshield. Drive long enough, and the snow will polish your windshield clean.

@Ross Outdoors Living in Wisconsin I know we can get some of the coldest and the snowiest winters in the US with having just about 4-5 month winters every year. I have owned many cars from Saturn, GMC, Ford, and Toyota, I have quite literally never experienced anything like that in any car. I also have worked at two car dealerships meaning that I have driven more of my fair share of cars. It seems as if most other, if not all other, car companies have figured out the proper way to defrost the windshield with only vents. Odd how Jeep can't do something as simple as that, and they prove it time and time again.

Just wait until Andre has to get the packed snow out of the cabin air intake at the base of the windshield on the F250, terrible design Love your content by the way, keep it up!

@CrazyLegsMcGee it was very frustrating - I wasn't on a schedule so I wasn't in a hurry - and I was about the only one capable (or stupid enough) to do it - I didn't see anyone for about 150 miles - and took 5 hours - lol !

@@mikethatguy27 if you'd watched the video you'd seethe problem is the air doesn't blow on the whole windshield. If there is no air blowing on effectively half the window, the temperature really doesn't matter

I had to keep 2 or 3 gallons of winter windshield wash fluid in my rubicon. The only way is to constantly use the windshield washer.

It is a Jeep thing. You expected to see when you drive, but you have a dust snorkel and big tires. You can buy little blower heaters at parts stores to help that issue, they worked in my 1964 dodge.
@alexmills1329
@alexmills1329 3 жыл бұрын
a 1964 dodge was around $1,000 new, and technology was vastly inferior in it, this is a over $50,000 Gladiator and it should not have to be tinkered with in the same way as such a basic truck made only for work. This isn't a work truck, this is a lifestyle vehicle and it is expected to preform to a higher standard, regardless of the fact that all vehicles are held to a much higher standard today than 1964

@@alexmills1329 I try to avoid those areas, the farm animals are smarter than many people it seems. If you ever get to drive a 1964 dodge dart do it they are nice simple cars.

“Do you think the Bronco defroster will work, says the Jeep board? Well I guess we have to fix it now that we have some competition.” Better get it fixed before the Bronco comes out. I bet they find a fix now. Lets hope. Good luck. That Jeep is pretty sweet. I would pick a new Bronco over it for sure now. So glad there is a choice now.
