Yeah, I really feel for her too. For him to cheat on the same day he was supposedly reaffirming his love for her is unbelievable. Why bother with the ceremony when you obviously don't love her? It makes absolutely no sense unless it was all a cover to cheat.

I'm sorry, but his opportunities will be endless & he has shown that he doesn't have the self control needed to be there & stay married. You don't even have kids yet! He will do this again! "If I actually asssaulted your wife, I'm sorry". The only way that apology could be better is if he played a ukulele while making it. As far as talking to the guy goes, I don't see a point. Hearing the reason for this type of stuff never makes it any better. The reasons are always so stupid that you end up only feeling more stupid yourself for having heard it.

This is why having boundaries between male / female relationships outside of your romantic relationship is important. ESPECIALLY when alcohol is involved. I would never disrespect my significant other by staying outside on a porch drinking with his buddy while my man is asleep inside. It just looks inappropriate to me and could be easily misconstrued. A group setting with my partner there with me is a totally different thing. To me, I’d rather be safe than sorry.

But, isn't that just blaming the victim?? Why doesn't he bear any responsibility for what happened?? After all, he's not only been his friend for over 20 years, he's also married and he should be mature enough to control himself. Just because a woman compliments you or puts her hand on your shoulder during an emotional moment does not give you the right to make a pass at her. Any guy who thinks that is thinking with the wrong body part!! He's also behaving like an immature frat boy!!

@@peterlee584 it’s not blaming the victim at all. If anything, it goes to show his character too! Either party should’ve known that.

I saw you on the Minimal Mom channel and really enjoy your show. My daughter's husband cheated on her when he was at training for a career that supposedly values integrity. They were married 11 years and we all spent a lot of time together. He has handled it like this guy's friend -like a teenager, not a man. My daughter has handled it better than I have. I keep hoping for reconciliation and feel sorry for my ex-son in law but I know his problems are all self induced and I have to get over it. I'm mostly shocked and don't believe he is the person his actions and words show him to be. My husband, son, and all relatives would never welcome him back and I know I don't wish for my daughter to hope he will be faithful. I thank you because I know I have to go through mourning. On a lighter note, my son says Jane Austen is the reason I am having a hard time letting it go.

You "Hoping for a reconciliation?" You have got to be kidding me. Your son in law was caught cheating and as far as your concerned it would be nice if they reconcile. You do realize this is probably not the only time he has cheated he was caught this time or he fessed up as his conscience was nagging at him. If there is a reconciliation you do realize there is a high risk he will cheat again. He knowingly and consciously made a choice to have an affair. He made the decision his affair partner did not. You son in law could have easily set a boundary, dismissed, and refuted her advances. Will you be as understanding as you said, "feeling sorry for him" and accommodating and hope they reconcile? Will your daughter be able to trust him again? Or will she be constantly worried, stressed, and obsessed about his ability to stay faithful. It sounds as if your daughter is handling it better than you are and like you said, "You have to get over it." Why are you thinking about his wellbeing and problems? It is non of your business to be concerned for his wellbeing. Who cares about how he is managing it. You primary concern needs to be focused on your daughter and supporting her. For myself i would have been angry and would have never had thoughts of a reconciliation between my daughter and her husband, but the opposite and i sure wouldn't be feeling sorry for him. He made his bed now he has to lay in it.

When he came to me with an epiphany and changes he had already made, wanting another chance, I gave him another chance (not for long). I found out months later, it was not an epiphany. My friend had been meeting secretly with him for months spoon feeding him everything that he needed to say to win me back.Things I had confided in her. So I lost two people I cared about and had a long history with. But, neither could be trusted. Bamboozled! I am better off.

Hey, Dr. Delony - On Jane from Nebraska - The very 1st thing she needs to do, is STOP TAKING FERILITY TREATMENT; esp. if she is having questions about the marriage. It doesn't make any sense to go deeper in to this relationship; unless she's sure about it. Secondly, fertility treatments involve hormone injections - they're probably raging right now and will affect Jane's ability to make a sound decision about this incident. She needs all her faculties right now to determine where she stands and what will make this right by her. Finally, when a subordinate; who apparently thought it was appropriate to be involved in a sexting incident after an evening out with people that included her direct boss; decides to file a sexual harassment suit - and since she received the work discipline and not him, that's a real possibility - all the details will come tumbling out anyway. That should "encouragement" for him to own up, right up front. He might be feeling safe right now because he retained his rank and salary; but he shouldn't. Sexual Harassment suits are nasty, costly business and he just left his employer right open, in a way that they are sure NOT to appreciate.

In the case of new baby, what if step dad abused mom? And everyone wants to pretend it never happened. Both mom and stepdad say it did. (Though stepdad minimizes it). This is not “it’s too weird”. This is he was emotionally and verbally abusive and mom says he continues to be manipulative, gaslighting and threatening.

As someone who lost a 20-year friendship I can attest to the fact that when they stab you in the face it is the most harsh ice water to the face feeling and it absolutely just broke me for years. She was engaged to my brother and she ended up cheating on him and leaving him for a quote unquote bad boy because my brother was the safe option and he was boring to her apparently and when her dad came back into the picture she wanted to please him so much that she joined the cult that he was a part of and completely ghosted me in my entire family. I grew up with her parents phone number on my refrigerator I have one of my earliest memories I remember feeling her kick in her mother's stomach and we have been Inseparable since birth and it just absolutely gutted me.... I mourned losing her more than I ever mourned my first marriage and my divorce to get away from my abusive ex

@@sarahalderman3126 ok, so that's the most common time for cheaters to cheat, that actually says nothing about "classic men." The vast majority of men, and all people, actually don't cheat. @@sarahalderman3126 you are correct that big life changes are a time to cheat, or get divorced, or otherwise finally acknowledge that they aren't happy in this relationship, but that is a) not limited to men b) not limited to cheating behavior, and c) not true for moderately happy or healthy people. So, again, not classic in any way of men specifically.

This new mother needs to stand her ground. Preemies are super susceptible to all sorts of illness that people innocently bring into your house. And if someone has a coldsore on their mouth it could possibly be herpes and they don't even realize it. I knew someone whose baby was kissed on the mouth by a realitive who had a coldsore who gave that innocent baby herpes and it killed her! When my brother was a newborn my parents were visited by well meaning relatives. Someone had the sniffles and my brother who was full term and very healthy ended up with pneumonia and had to be in NICU for over a month. You can NEVER be too safe with babies. She is yours and your rules. They will get over it and if they don't that is an indication of a very selfish adult who is not putting your baby's or your decisions first! Good Luck and !💖💖💖👍👍👍

Now, she has made up a story to protect herself just in case the best friend tells her fiancee! Sounds like something out of a novel but it happens. You don’t even own your wife you were born a single entity and we all die single come on! We all wanna possess our spouses body isn’t that a flaw? She can choose to pursue another man any time. You don’t own her. It’s better to self-reflect cuz that’s a weakness that you’re so bothered by it. You can mourn a friendship we never own our wife! Please listen to monks and learn to let go of possessions, one of them is ownership over your wife. You’ll heal better.
