I find a great way to never run out of things to say is to slow down. It's so hard having an interesting conversation with someone where you mention a big topic like food, or relationships and then jump to another topic like 30 seconds later. If you bring up travel for example, really dig into the topic. Ask if they prefer nature or city life more, go into why and what that might say about their personality. Try to guess what type of country they most want to visit, mention a funny travel story, explain how you got nervous the first time you say local police of another country drive around with giant guns on the back of their truck. Talk about your unique skills that would make you a good travel partner, or how you were trying to barter in another language and your counter offer was higher than the suggested price. We're both anxious on the phone, if you can show some vulnerability they'll feel more relaxed and the conversation flows smoother. It's why you can quickly run out of things to talk about with your boss but not a close friend.

It's hard to find videos on these subjects that don't have "girl" or "guy" in the title. What about grown people? I know a man who lives a state away. We've gone through periods of talking on the phone where I've felt the need to ask him questions because, while he calls me (used to be too often imo) his tone is very monotone, low energy even when he's laughing. I want to be more interested in him, but something about this annoys me to no end because I don't know why he hasn't noticed this in himself. I don't know why it turns me off so much, but is that normal? If you met a woman who was attractive, yet her skin and features looked like she was directly from your gene pool would it turn you off? I'm sure I sound like a bizarre woman with a lot of expectations, but aside from the physical part, I just find it exhausting to carry the conversation each time.
