What to use on Swimbaits, Glide baits, Owner split rings, or Decoy egg snaps!

I go over whether or not to use snaps or split rings on your glide baits. I tell you what my preference is, and what i use on my glide baits and hard baits when fishing. LINKS ON WHERE TO BUY THE SNAPS AND SPLITS LISTED BELOW.
When I'm throwing a larger glide bait like the Deps 250, I prefer to use the #5 Decoy egg snaps with a 120lb rated breaking strength! When I want a tighter action or glide to my baits I prefer to use Owner Hyper wire split rings. Size 6 with a breaking strength of 70lbs. I ONLY use these two types and brands. Over A LOT of testing multiple snaps and splits out, I've found these to be the strongest and most consistent and best quality. Below are the direct links to the one's I use. Good video bro, I use those split rings... I use the #5 with a ball bearing swivel rated for 65lbs and my swim baits perform perfectly especially when walking the dog👍👍👍

Just found your channel for this video. Great explanation, exactly my thoughts on which snaps and rings to use. Though I will say the SPRO heavy duty split rings are actually pretty great too, and are always available at academy if I’m traveling and I don’t have a good tackle shop available (shout out to BaitWrx and Modern Tackle in the Springfield MO area). You should try out the oval split rings. On the oval split rings the opening is on the side so it is very hard for your knot to slide into the groove

Good info, thanks for sharing and explaining the reasons for your choices. I am interested to know if you have tried oval split rings. The radius is smaller, so it may restrict the action some compared to a similar strength round split ring, but it is easier to avoid tying the knot or having the knot slip into the single wire portion.

I will second your theory and add support. When i fg from braid to flouro.. The last thing i want to do is constantly cut back. With jerkbaits and scoobydoo and scooby though rigs. I have used Norman speed clips, duo spiral snaps, owner welded snaps, fastatch, ets.....the norman with the 2 legs contacting the lures' tie point. Extends the point of pivot to the knot. Kind of like a load leveling trailer hitch. It's not much of a difference....but you are right. I have found this as well. For bigger stuff i use fancy paper clips. Tactical angler clips have never failed me. Even the smaller ones

Have ever thought of or used a loop knot to give the action and no add un-necessary weight to the set up? Both egg snap or split ring have their places for sure and I use all three to attach a bait to my line, just adds more options for finicky fish that won't hit a bait because it doesn't appear to be natural!

On the flip side if you tie to the double side of the split rings it slides to the single side and you end up with a loose knot. As mentioned above the ovals are the way to go.

Have you tried the tactical angler clips? Check them out, they are a little beefier but very easy to get the baits on and off. Great vid's, I've been enjoying them. Keep it up.

+ Swimbait Chronicles u could also try switching to oval style split rings that way u have the double band on the side u tie on to and the bait won't get stuck on the split in the middle of the ring

fish on coool daiwa Lexa 300 if you're more comfortable with low profile casting reels, shimano Cardiff 300 if you like round casting reels

def not just any reel if you're throwing big baits. bigger baits will wear a traditional sized reel out pretty quick. both the reels he listed are great reels. the 300's offer higher line capacity and bigger drag systems and better gears so they can stand up to the abuse true big baits inflict.
