what a typical day of eating looks like as a plant-based family!🌱
BREAKFAST - green juice + a bit of green apple is the perfect way to introduce mineral rich leafy greens and veggies into your kiddos’ gut microbiome to help them develop a palate for them.
…and the perfect counterbalance is a fruity smoothie bowl rich in vitamins and antioxidants! the kids go crazy for hemp seeds and cashew butter, which served as the perfect healthy fats for toppings.
SNACK - a fresh plate of fruit is mother nature’s fruit snack! delay the ultra processed and refined sugary foods as long as possible so your children can identify what true sweetness tastes like!
LUNCH - we love using chickpea pasta bc it’s SO high in protein and iron, and the cheeze sauce was made using cashews, spices, and non-fortified nutritional yeast (naturally high in B vitamins, protein & iron)
SNACK - strawberry banana oat muffins made from scratch and loaded w/ healthy carbs, fats and protein, and then kale chips, the perfect crunch-satisfier that isn’t loaded w/ seed oil and trans fats!

Please get some B12 in there for everyone’s health! Deficiency can cause health problems if you don’t get enough. (It’s not in non-fortified nutritional yeast, only the fortified kind) Otherwise, an amazing and healthy diet ❤ love seeing your channel

Just because I didn’t feature supplements in this video doesn’t mean we don’t take them. This was simply meant to be a what we eat in a day! 🫶🏻 But yes, we take B12 (also took it before being plant-based).

Same here. Not exactly the same but im happy theyve gone the more “Indian” route of still giving all the food groups, with the obvious exception of meat products. I feel like in a lot of cases you see on social media these days the diet isnt at all varied enough especially with the different types of protein that you can get. Theyre definitely doing it right though

This is really good point for some reason I keep getting plant based diet eat in day and it's all honestly disordered eating but people in comments saying they r going to copy and mostly young girls posting the content and it's so dam unhealthy and dangerous for our children to see a normal. Good to see actual food using all food groups.

​@@emmanuellalo4717 my mom literally demanded blood tests for my children or she wouldnt babysit them. Because i chose to go vegan. She feeds my little brother corndogs quesadillas and burgers everynight with a rotation of broccoli or carrot sticks. I cook, veganize classics, make healthier options and spend more when i have a small budget, just to give them better options than i had growing up. Lol just had 3 false cps calls this year from my mom. Some people 😂

Personally I’m happy the mom is getting her kids to eat more greens and healthier options obviously as long as she isn’t super super strict and won’t even let the kids touch a McDonald’s fry once every blue moon lol. I wish my parents / family was more consistent with meals or healthier options growing up like these kids!

@@precious_presh_preciousI’m not disagreeing with you I’m sure a lot of moms or parents try to be vegan and force it on their kids but the kids in this video and on the channel obviously look like they enjoy and have fun when they eat this kind of food, maybe when they grow up they won’t want to be vegan anymore and that’ll be fine. And I’m sure if they didn’t enjoy the food she was giving them they wouldn’t eat it since toddlers and kids are vocal about a lot of things!

Ngl I was ready to be a hater because I’ve seen an alarming number of plant based parents malnourishing their kids but this looks so good. I love that the kiddos can just go to their garden and eat the veggies. It reminds me of my childhood when my parents would plant cabbage, beets, and carrots. I’d eat them with dirt still on them. 😂

Kids love to be a part of the process…planting and growing your own food is so rewarding and empowers them to make their own healthy choices right from the start!🫶🏻☺️ It gives them a sense of connection and understanding of where their food really comes from. Even just taking them grocery shopping is amazing and fun to see them get to choose their own apples, oranges etc!

@@EatMoveRest I love this idea, I wish my mum did this too. I always found it hard to find snacks and ended gaining 2 kg But I just want to say please include red meat in their diet it's so horrible my mum had 2 HB Iron level and was about to die

As an indian raised by super strict vegetarian(no eggs too) family, there is nothing wrong in plant based foods. We turned out just fine. Stop hating vegetarians

​@@phoneman-xs3ft I'm not sure what type of dorm you have(mine was a shared apartment with an actual kitchen), I'm gonna run with a mini fridge concept, instead of a full fridge. I don't eat plant based, but based on what's in this video. You could prep fresh smoothies and freeze them in portion in your freezer. Same with the fruit, but a lot of fruit and vegetables can be kept at room temperature, so I'd lean towards those. Tofu, stays in the fridge, I don't know what Mac and cheese she's using if it's packaged or home made. If it's home made you can diversify your pasta types, I know there is more than chickpea. And it let's you pick your cheeses/flavors. A d I would recommend stocking a good selection of beans, they're a great source of iron. As far as making a non existent kitchen, you can use a crackpot, with liners, that will work for your Mac and cheese, and any soup, stew, curry(a lot of Indian, and I believe West African cuisine is heavy on the plant based foods, or easily adapted), and when you're done you just pull out the liner. It's not plant based, but I would have a piece of bacon cut in half fried in a baby wok(works as a pan, or pot, great if you don't have space for lots of dishes), with an egg, and put on a piece of toast. That would hold me with a snack through like 8 hours of classes. So focus on foods that are going to stick and last like that in the morning, you can still take your smoothie/greens, but make sure you're getting the energy to survive your classes and not have to crash or buy food out. Very impressed with this balanced and varied plan. Fruit, vegetables, rice, tofu, healthy sweet snack. Hits lots of good nutrition buttons. If her kids eat this enthusiastically all or most of the time, this mother is doing an amazing job.

​@@rheannasloan2759 no, it's not. As long as they're getting enough calories and protein as well as fruits and veggies, they'll be perfectly fine. My main concern would be iron intake, but based off this video they seem to be doing fine with that

@@waffleaffle231it seems balanced like you said, tofu for protein, nuts for fats and everything else with vitamins in it. Im not vegan myself but this is balanced. I would say adding some spinach should help with iron but chickpeas have it too

That's how they were brought up. As a nanny for many years, I had some mums telling me how their kids eat only burgers, chips and pizza. Adults need to do parenting rather than let children rule their lives! 😊

my mum eats completely plant based but raised me and my siblings with the choice to eat meat. I’m forever thankful because I was never forced to eat meat with a roast but always had the choice if I fancied it!

It’s also good that you control and grow most of what is in their foods so that you know exactly what they are ingesting. Food these days is so loaded with things like gmos and artificial flavors and colors so it makes me so happy to see that these kids won’t have that problem

I've seen a lot of plant based moms and this is the first one that I actually think is okay. You eat fruit but it actually looks healthy and it looks like the kids also really enjoy it. You also give them pasta and cupcakes which is also good! Keep going!

Being vegetarian/vegan to me has really helped me sit down and think about what I’m eating more. Because it’s harder to get all the nutrients and calories you need, it really forces you to sit and be mindful about the food you’re making and the ingredients you’re using. It’s not for everyone, but it’s definitely helped me mend my terrible relationship with food.

As opposed to the millions of shitty mums who raise their kids on mcdonalds and soda? I'd say a Vegan parent has a higher chance of giving their child a healthy diet than a non-Vegan parent.

I was so concerned at the beginning but it’s actually a really good diet! It’s got everything you need, even protein. Kudos to you for keeping your kids super healthy!!🙏

Can I ask how often you go grocery shopping? I’ve been trying to adapt a lifestyle more like this but because we are a bit farther from a supermarket, its hard to time everything so we can eat fresh produce consistently before it starts to go bad! Just wondering what your general grocery schedule looks like 😊

Usually people are not giving their kids the nutrients they need when doing plant based meals,but you make sure that they eat protein and carbs.ect..... You are doing a great job raising your kids to live a healthy life

People hate on plant based families who give their kids a balanced diet full of macronutrients while they’re eating cereal for breakfast macdonads for lunch and mac and cheese for dinner like if they’re some kinda health gurus or something
