The result?
A surprising, compelling, and emotionally vulnerable story about the transformative impact of moms.
The best gift for mom this Mother’s Day isn’t flowers or a pedicure. Just tell her what’s in your heart. Life is unpredictable and these things shouldn’t go unsaid. As one daughter put it, “Mom, you did good.”

Shortlisted for an Oscar in 2010 for his documentary Facing Ali, his latest project is Spirit Unforgettable, a powerful film about the iconic Canadian band Spirit of the West and their frontman John Mann’s struggle with early-onset Alzheimer’s.

If your mother is still living, take the time to tell her everything she's meant to you. And for all the mothers who have lost a child, remember they're still mothers. Don't be afraid to go to them and say, "I know your loss makes it hard to celebrate but just remember that it's for us to celebrate you. You're still a mom and to the child you lost you still meant everything to them for as long as they were here. For all the women who wanted to be mom but weren't able to, you can still be the very definition of what a mother is--loving, caring, kind, self-sacrificing, understanding and accepting so someone that doesn't have a mother, or someone who needs an extra mom can know that they are love. Don't let the fact that you didn't give birth make you bitter, angry or jealous. Don't shut out the opportunity to show a child who needs that soft place to land that someone cares. I lost my sweet mother 5 years ago. Even though I took care of her for the last 15 years of her life, I often wonder if I did enough. She passed away at home, even though doctors said I should put her in a nursing home. I held her hand, telling her I loved her and that it was okay for her to go until she took her last breath. As hard as that was, I was glad I was blessed with that opportunity to care for her in her last days the way she cared for me in my first days. I like to think I did okay. Mom, I still miss you each and every day! Wait for me in heaven.

My mom was my best friend!!! She was string in Christ as was my dad!!! She went home to God in 2014 at the age of 90!! I miss her so much, but I know I will see her again!!! Thank you, Jesus!!
