@@longassrice8756 its cold weather, you can perhaps have some materials like paper or wood somewhere, use the matches and some tinder material (which is pretty common to have around in survival situations) to get a fire and use that to heat up some water. the fire will then also keep you warm

Type 3 instant coffee is coffee that has been freeze dried to make it last longer and is a milder roast. Type 1 and Type 2 are spray dried and is a more acidic darker roast of coffee. A lot of people prefer the older Type 2 over the modern Type 3 because of its better taste.

@Rakeem Foster you do realize that the longer you cook something and the closer it gets to burning, the more material it cooks out, if you cook something longer, it isnt going to add more tannic acid the longer you cook it... it will burn it away much like how it burns away caffeine the longer you roast it... its basic physics, if you burn away material, it does not do the opposite and magically give it more material

Most of my family were in the military. My grandpa still has unopened c-rations (definitely dont open them) But the for those that don't know, yes the gum is a laxative but it only goes into affect when you swallow it. Chewing, it is perfectly normal.

Freeze dried strawberries are fantastic, for sure. They used to make cheerios with freeze dried strawberries, and it was my absolute favorite. Unfortunately they discontinued it, which really sucks. Freeze dried strawberries make everything bland so much better.

Mre’s have gotten real fancy. My favorite was the dehydrated pork and beef patty. Came with crackers and cheese spread, a dessert that was usually some kind of loaf cake. Hot chocolate mix, you mixed with instant coffee either normal for a drink or add just enough water to make a icing for the loaf cake. Plus gum and I think matches.

He also has no idea of water amounts and how to add some to a product and check in a minute if you need to add more or if you screwed up. I know most of the American and Euro rations were pretty good. We used to swap them with GI's from other countries. Coffee Instant Type III is freeze dried. Type I and II were spray dried.

I'm surprised you hate the drinks so much. It's better if you use hot water for the cocoa, the first time I had it I thought it made Swiss Miss taste like crap. SteveMRE taught me to put the coffee in there as well, but I never seem to get both at the same time. And the Gatorade stuff can be very refreshing when you are super thirsty. Maybe you have to be cold, hungry, and thirsty for all this to be good lol
