Xtina is such a rare talent, I hate the way she is always being overlooked and dismissed. I used to be one of those people who wrote her off as a Disney brat until I listened to Back To Basics and realized what a musical and artistic powerhouse she is. That prompted me to go back and revisit her earlier work, and Stripped is such an impressive achievement for a sophomore record from such a young artist. Her records since have all been so diverse, and she never disappoints. I encourage all music lovers to give her a chance if they haven't in the past, otherwise you are really missing out.

@@talinemelanie Britney wasn't the blueprint lol. Aaliyah was. The girls all followed her lead in terms of sexier image. She was literally known for her transition from teen to adult sound/image. She just wasn't a blonde white girl for y'all to notice. Also, mind you Christina debuted her bad girl/sex persona with Lady Marmalade in 2001 which came out before Britney's "Slave 4 u". However transitioning to an adult is not just about being sexier. It's also about musical growth and taking creative control. Christina's Stripped talked about important and personal themes like domestic violence, double standards, discrimination, bullying, lgbtq rights, self empowerment, etc. She wrote and produced the album as an artist to convey her messages. That's mainly why Stripped is cited by many artists as a huge source of inspiration.

@@ExoticlyFoxy "to me" being the key phrase here. Being chosen to perform in funerals doesn't guarantee legend status for the world. Legend status is when you have contributed to the change of pop scene. Mariah is a legend because of popularizing whistle register, melismatic singing and hip hop elements among pop audience and she is the "good girl gone bad" template which is a universal trend now. Whitney is a legend because she changed the way pop ballads were being sung by incorporating R&B which was a trend in the 90s. Michael Jackson and Madonna are legends because they glorified dancing and performance in the pop scene. Elvis, Beatles, Queen have had huge influence on the rock/pop music. Aretha was the Queen of Soul and transformed the R&B culture. Their influence is huge and their sales figures are humungous. It takes a lot to be a legend

Speaking of being influential, all the top pop girls of today cite Christina as an influence just as the legends u mentioned inspired Xtina. And to top it off Whitney and Celine raved about Xtina's vocal talents. So to keep the score card, # 1 hits ☑ influenced other artists ☑ multiple Grammys ☑ praised by other legends ☑ like it or not Xtina was to the 2000's what Whitney, Mariah and Celine were to the 90's... period.

I hated how her time as a pop giant was limited mostly just to the 2000s. Cut to the 2010's, her best performing songs were when she was featured, but her solo stuff wasn't what people flocked to anymore compared to her other big name peers at the time. Britney still had a good early 2010s chart run with Femme Fatale and spent most of the rest of the decade putting on a really good Vegas show, JT had the 20/20 Experience and good touring numbers the rest of the decade despite the poorly conceived Man of the Woods album, and P!nk had a good early 2010's chart run but still put out chart topping albums, and had monstrous tour grossing.
@cristinarivera57074 жыл бұрын
So lets go over the 2010’s for Christina. She had a world tour and a Las Vegas residency in 2018-2019. They did excellent numbers and she was on the Voice for 6 seasons with good reason. She was the highest paid judge on the panel and the only female judge which people always conveniently forget to mention. NBC was paying her $12 million a year. She pushed to have 2 female judges on that show and upon her departure what happened? They now have 2 female judges. She waited to release albums years apart but she still had hits even if they were features. Her single with a Great Big World not only was a top 5 hit but won her another Grammy. She had a three episode arch on Nashville which had a couple of great songs and she co wrote a song “Bound to you” off of Burlesque soundtrack which was nominated for a golden globe. Christina may not have been releasing albums and solo singles but she was doing several diverse projects throughout the 2010’s that kept her resume padded and her net worth high. She’s a business woman in addition to a performer!

@@dinasilva9263 Not happening. They're not beefing. But from my memory they are not fond of each other. Aguilera still gives Mariah her just due. And Mariah hasn't said anything negative lately about Aguilera. But it's obvious they don't mess with each. LoL.HAHA 😂
@kevinrentz87734 жыл бұрын
I Don't think Aguilera needs that kind of a comeback. But she'll never get it because this generation has terrible taste in music. Look how they're letting dua lipa album underperform. And no one ever mentioned the real reason Mariah Carey comeback was successful. Producer Jermaine Dupree had just got done making Usher a legend in 2004 with Confessions album. So Mariah was smart to call him back up after all those years for a comeback album. It was pretty much genius career move.

Her legacy can never be undone! People who think Xtina and Brit are in the same lane are just haters and stuck in the 90's. I loved That they all grew up together to become the Icons they are today! Xtina Definitely is a blueprint for the new gen girls. Like Whitney, Aretha, Mariah, Madonna, Etta etc. was for her. I will forever Stan! #queen

Clarification: Aguilera isn't so much underrated as her impact tends to fly under the radar in the vein of Britney Spears or even Justin Timberlake. If you want an underrated act that deserves attention on the charts, excluding critical acclaim, you can argue FKA Twigs.
@kevinrentz87734 жыл бұрын
I agree. You can tell the some of these people wasn't fans or wasn't a kid, pre-teen or teenagers during this era. Because she's was so big I became annoyed with her stinky attitude. I think her career slowing down humble her. I Love Aguilera nowadays she minds her business & Unproblematic.
@justezek85964 жыл бұрын
Hell I can argue that P!nk falls in this category too. They were big for the time, just that their impact and legacies then to fly under the radar. Again, there were so many one-hit wonders of their eras that is releasing albums now that don't receive the attention they need. Those are the people that should be called underrated.
@kevinrentz87734 жыл бұрын
@@justezek8596 Pink was bigger in 2010s decade. Her number one songs didn't start coming until 2008. Christina started underperforming by 2008. Pink then followed up with her Grammy performance in 2010. Pink just scored the second biggest female tour of all time behind Madonna last year. Her last top 10 song was 2017. Her last No.1 album in the US was 2019. She's definitely hasn't fallen off.

@@justezek8596 Sorry No argument. Just run down. I agree that she's over looked. But once folks look her up they will realize Pink and Beyonce has had the best longevity out of their generation. Britney spears is still the bigger star regardless. But Beyonce and Pinks longevity and crossover to Gen-z is very impressive. Given they was at the bottom in the early 00s next to Aguilera and Britney spears.
