I listened to a documentary/KZbin video about an Amish community. They choose not to listen to the news because it causes stress in their lives and they have no power to change the situation. If they can make a difference, then they’ll help, but otherwise they don’t focus on it except to pray. I like that perspective. Know what to pray about, but don’t get so consumed you’re stressed out about something you can’t change.

God is on control! I am careful what I watch on news, social media, etc. Most of it is lies. If more would concentrate on reading the Bible, they would be in a better place. Keep your eyes focused on the Lord!

I can’t watch the news because my anxiety goes through the roof. I know what’s going on and I don’t need to hear/see it 24/7.

@@leslielousma7913I rarely watch the news. Not because of anxiety but because it’s to political. Even when it’s not in political season. People are nuts. I only watch if something important is going on in the world that I think is worthy of my time and attention. I also have anxiety attacks. Now I choose what I watch or read on the internet. Now we have choices. Before we didn’t.

In 1917 my grandmother was a 12-year-old child and the oldest child in her family. The entire family became sick with the Spanish flu. They were of the LDS faith. But they were the only ones in their community who practiced that religion. Some Baptist ladies in their Texas town, put their own health at risk and came into the home and took care of the entire family. My great grandmother ended up passing away and leaving her children without a mother. It was because of the loving ministry of those ladies that the father allowed the children to start attending a local Baptist church.he could see that, even though they might have slightly takes on religion, those ladies were truly the hands of Jesus and those weeks!

I've been very sick with intestinal colitis for 2 years now. I have lost so much weight and feel badly and weak most days. I realize how much I took for granted when I had more good days than bad. I feel like I am being taught compassion but have realized that people say "let me know what I can do to help" but if I actually call on them, they are too busy. I have definitely been guilty of saying that myself. This has definitely changed the way I will respond to people in need of help. I'm like Jinger, I would rather not know anything is going to happen. I want to just be happy until something happens.

I really enjoy your pod cast. I was watching the one about fear and I just wanted to say I am 76 years old and remember when I was in school we had practice drills just in case of nuclear war we were told to get under our desks . I think that fear is something that every generation has faced in one way or another. I try never to let what is going on in the world paralize me with fear. I do pray for the leaders of the world which we are told to do in the bible but I have to take one day at a time and know that God has to allow any situation for it to happen . I don't always understand but I pray and trust that my life will be what God has planned for me and in a small way my prayers will make a difference. Thank you both for your biblical content it is so needed on all social media outlets

I was just reading in 1 Thessalonians 5 about the day of the Lord. It says we are to be awake but not without hope. I think there is a difference between being aware of what is going on around us and letting the fear of "what could" take over us. God's plan leads to the beautiful day when we see Jesus face to face.

Your show originally aired when I had just gotten married and while I didn't fully know many of the things that had come out over the years, yall seemed like a wholesome chirstian family and LOVED watching. I know yall ha e been through some crazy trials over the years and I pray for your family often. I am so thankful that with everything you have gone through you all have chosen to stay faithful to God and realized that he was not the bad one in your story. ❤️ thank you for continuing to share a piece of your family with us by doing these podcasts. ❤️God bless you and your family 🙏✝️

My husband and I have a similar dynamic He wants to keep me abreast of all the "doom and gloom" that's happening and I don't always want to listen. But as Jinger said, I KNOW most of the time, it's important that I know. So that I can pray, help, contribute, do what I can. I do have fear too but I don't let it paralyze me. I'm not particularly religious but I do enjoy listening to you quote your scripture and try and share thoughts and beliefs that can give some peace to some of us. I enjoyed this podcast.

Oh my gosh, that was a great video!!! There.is nothing sadder than loosing someone you love knowing that they did not believe. I couldn't exist if I didn't have the Lord in my life! He has shown me that He is always with me, through good and bad! He has never forsaken me! He never has given up on us , it is us who gives up on Him! Being in my golden years, people will ask if I have ever witnessed a miracle? I am blessed and see miracles daily. I woke up this morning, the first miracle of the day. He has given this day to honor Him ! That was a great devotional today ❤❤❤

I live in Orange County and I can totally relate to what Jinger said about getting roped into the local news when it comes to live police chases (which seem to be an almost weekly occurrence in So Cal) on KCAL 9 or other local news stations: I become glued to the TV and can’t stop watching.

I have had no cable, so no local television for several years. I have chosen to remove myself from news--while praying for those things that are to be expected in the human experience. I.E. Praying for those in authority, for the restoring of man, honoring God with my life and language. I am wise enough to choose those I hope will represent me; but, I choose to honor those elected even if they were not my choice. I find that despite the things that might cause fear that I have joy through all circumstances. It is so easy because in my 70 years I have found Him to be faithful and I trust Him.

I lived in Anaheim in the late 80’s early 90’s. We would go to sleep with the constant sound of police helicopters flying over our area from 10 pm to 1-2:00 am. Every night! When I was a little girl, we were taught to go under our desk at school in case of a nuclear attack. I had a very active imagination, and so at night, in bed, I would worry about who would take care of me if my parents died in a nuclear war. So very sad. I'm 69 and know Jesus, but I remember being that little girl and how frightened I was.

I grew up in California and I can remember vividly two chases live on tv. One was a man in a police chase heading towards Mexico and I was glued to the tv and then they found out he had a baby in the car 😱 and the police got him just before the border. The other chase was horrific. When I came in my mom was watching the news and there was a portion of the freeway was shut down. There was a man who had a shotgun and he draped over the overpass a homemade sign that said “HMO’s are only in it for the money” and then shot himself in the head on live tv! Even now at 40, I still remember those two chases. Crazy!

The summer of 1964 my Dad, as a high school science teacher, he went to summer school to add up-to-date science training; so we moved to Illinois. The apt we rented had a frig but not a working stove so we used a hot plate and a big square electric frying pan for 3 months. Mom would put water in the pan and put food in glass bowls to steam vegetables and used a sauce pan on the hot plate to heat up water and instant potatoes , which I still can’t eat because it doesn’t taste the same as boiled potatoes before mashing them.

We do live in such a scary world. When I'm anxious and weary, I remind myself of Acts 14:22 .. we must endure hardships and suffering in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. Those are just green flags and one step closer to Jesus!! But like Jinger said, if we're about to die, I'd rather not know it. That would be a terrifying way to spend your last few moments. I feel a bit relieved though bc the word tells us how the story ends, and I don't recall global destruction due to nuclear weapons. Humankind isn't going to end bc of anything we do. HIS wrath will be poured out, not a man with an ego trip and a 🚨 button. My pastor told us years ago.. we are eternal beings having a human experience. I've never forgotten that. Blessings💛 ps.. Jana made a beautiful bride. I'm so happy for her!!

Hi! I grew up in the purity culture as well. This is off this topic though, but I have a friend who left the faith altogether. We were listening to a podcast you were on, but not this one. Jeremy was in essence discussing the toxicity of the faith Jinger was brought up in as it shouldn't be fear based (or something to that effect). My friend mentioned to me that you all are STILL in a toxic, fear-based faith and it can't be sugar-coated. As long as there is a belief that hell exists, a place of eternal torture and damnation, then acceptance of Jesus isn't based on His love but rather the fear of what happens if we don't. The message is that he is all forgiving...until! She told me in no other context in our earthly life would this premise for a true loving relationship be acceptable. If my daughter told me she met this amazing man and he promised all sorts of good things as long as she loved him...but then threatened if she did not...he would torture her ...any wise person would tell my daughter that is NOT love and to run for the hills. I could not disagree with her. Can you explain your stance on that? By the way, I have to admit, my now non-religious friend (15 years away from the church) is an outstanding, loving, and compassionate person (and flies in the face of what my church told me about people like her i.e. "wicked"). I can't possibly imagine her suffering for eternity in damnation for being truthful about her thoughts and living authentically.

Love this channel! Thank you! Topic suggestion: can you please talk about the fourth commandment? I’m confused by all the different ideas in the Christian community surrounding this commandment and how we’re to obey it. Are there certain practical ways we can discern how to remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy? Is Sunday our Sabbath? We’re a sports loving family and we’ve gone back and forth about how we can honor God by participating or not participating in sports competitions on Sunday. Y’all thoughts would be much appreciated! 💚

Traditionally, Saturday is Sabbath. In my language for example the name is more similar - Saturday is called sambata (written sâmbătă but harder to figure out 😅). Here the first day of the week is said to be Monday but it's Sunday in the US and other places, right? So the 7th is Saturday. I think you can go to sports on Sunday. I'm not religious though. 😅

I totally understand being glued to a police chase! I watched one that came up in my KZbin feed for about 2 hours and later found out that it was a 2 year old video. It was fascinating because he was trapped a couple of times, but managed to keep going until he was driving on the wheel rims and set the car on fire, but he continued to try to drive until the car was in flames! I think it was a video from the LA area.

One comfort for us is knowing that God will not destroy the world through war. Jesus tells is in Matthew 24:6, "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come". We therefore know that nuclear bombs will not destroy the earth. Of course that doesn't mean we won't be harmed by them, but it is a reminder that in spite of all that happens God is in control. He has promised to never leave us no matter what happens. We should be well informed, but at some point, we must "let go and let God". He has promised to never leave us.

I agree with you. This world is in no way doom and gloom. God's in control and whatever he will's will be. I think some people consume to much news so they view the world in a negative "light".

My former finance' and several of his family members died from cancer caused by their city water. The city weighed the cost to fix it over the lives that it would impact. I don't trust city water, and I'll stick with my bottled water.

Please surround my Pastors sons family in your prayers. The sons wife is a practicing witch and is teaching spells to her 5 year old daughter. 2 different people got confirmation from the Lord and a spirit of death is coming into that home.

I dont watch the news because it is so depressing. I do read the local news to stay in the know on what’s going on but I don’t want to watch it.
