If you train in Thailand, muaythai is the best martial art to train. Elsewhere, it depends on what is available.

Muay Thai is brutal, but all depends on the situation... On the ground against a jiu jitsu fighter there is no chance. Of course there are styles better than others, but I don't really think that the is a "best" of all style.
