Give the-guy-a-chance has always been a motto for me when starting out and meeting someone. But for a young adult like me I have this mechanism defense I have where I brace myself to defend my romantic and emotional integrites. I don't let it up simply because my body won't let me and I am worried that it might drive a potential guy away only because I played sheriff too hard about it.. I am still new to the idea of dating only because I haven't had an opportunity to meet guys who would like my sort of girl. Nor have I dated someone who's slightly more attractive than me by far. So give the guy a chance has been my motto since watching good romantic comedy flicks since watchng television of reality t.v... but I worry that I'm possibly too easy and too safe that I may accidentally lose his intrest. What advices do you have for women new to the game who would like to date available men?

@@gapeach7814 People always tell you who they are if you watch carefully. Nobody can keep up an act forever. This is the benefit of taking things SLOWLY and not getting physically involved for quite awhile. Get to know him in different situations. Pay close attention to how he acts when you state a boundary; when he's angry; and when he doesn't get what he wants. Don't overinvest, because you will psychologically be driven to make the relationship work so you can get a return on that investment. Only invest as much as you're willing to lose if it doesn't work out. Then you're only there because you want to be, not because you're trying to fill a need. That's how you make sure you're always free to stay or go, as it serves you, and not get trapped in unhealthy relationships.

Yes that's right. Respect yourself enough to walk away from anything that doesn't grow you, serve you and make you a better person. If a man isn't willing to commit to you it's because he knows he doesn't deserve you and he hasn't done the inner work to become a better man. Take back your power and realise how great of a person you are and what you have to offer. Don't be a woman who needs a man, be a woman a man needs!

In the intro, Stephan talked about dating fatigue or dating burnout. I've experienced this right before getting into a toxic relationship and a dead-end relationship, where I felt incredibly stuck. Thankfully, I left that relationship! Ladies, don't ever allow yourself to continously date endlessly because you think dating means getting the numbers up in meeting the right man. That ain't true! If you feel burnout from dating, then simply take a break! This will prevent you from making major dating mistakes and stop you from dating the wrong guy like I did! Taking a break from dating all together will be your saving grace!

Oh girl soooooo true, I dated throughout my thirties to find the man for starting a family and all I got was divorced entitled guys with an ex wife and two children in the background and the exes hand in his pockets. So I ended up with a guy who seemed like the one eyed beneath the blind - in divorce but no kids. His approach was good, he showed effort that many others never did so I decided to give him a chance although he wasn't "the one" for me. Ended in a toxic stagnation of a relationship and wasted years of my life because I felt a lot of that guilt and pity that Stephen speaks of when he came begging after he did toxic shit instead of walking away. In the end he dumped me to monkeybranch to someone else when I became too inconvenient. She did me a favor with crossing his path and I learned my lesson. Never again even if I end up as the single cat lady. I was so wrong by thinking forgiving and giving another chance is what adults do when they want a relationship to last, you have to compromise right?! I always kind of thought it was my fault when it didn't work out with the divorced dudes before him. But they were entitled, they just wanted a women without baggage of her own because they wanted me to succumb to accepting their ex and their children without a prospective family of my own.

If the man tells he doesn’t want a relationship or kids, that’s exactly what that means. It’s the same thing when a woman says to a man, I’m not interested. There’s no confusion there. Someone I know is waiting on their “soulmate” it’s been over fifteen years. The man is married to someone else and not talking of a divorce, not making moves for a divorce, and she is still waiting on him. Don’t do this to yourself. It will come together if that person is meant for you. Don't force something that isn't working. God Bless you Stephan. ❣

I sort of agree... I think sexual attraction can grow as you get to know a person, get to know their facial expressions, body movements and what they mean. But you do know that that possibility exists. However, if you find someone repulsive, and the more you talk to them, the more hesitant you find yourself to move forward, don't push yourself. You don't owe anybody any answers. Even your own self. It may be something that you're picking up on, but can't verbalize yet.

I had to do a lot of work on myself over the years and am still learning. I finally decided to date someone after 3 years and the difference in how I reacted and responded to it is amazing. I decided to end the connection after the first date for these reasons: 1. No attraction, I tried to picture myself with him intimately and the look on my family's face. 2. Covering up an alcohol addiction, I can smell it through his cologne. I like the smell of a man's natural body. 3. Calling and texting too much, I've only known him for 48 hours. As soon as we have a complete conversation, he texts me long paragraphs about how good of a man he is. 4. Talks about his ex more than once. 5. He had unnecessary conversations on the phone while on the date. 6. He is a smoker, I don't like kissing, However, if I did, I wouldn't kiss him. 7. When he picked me up, he had a chicken bone in his car with ashes all over the place. I could imagine an ashtray with multiple butts and the smell of heavy smoke in his home. 8. He complained on the date about the seating in the restaurant and I had to step in to straighten out the situation. The list goes a little further. I let it go in a mature way this time. I normally will just cut it off abruptly. He claimed to want an immediate commitment and said he wanted to guide me. I felt as though he may be controlling in a way. Or a smotherer. My instincts kicked in and warned me that this man's emotions may not be balanced, very impatient or entitled, a drug or alcohol addict and needs a lot of self work to heal. It is a possibility he is abusive in one way or another. His hygiene is poor. Secretly really wants a casual relationship. He seems to be trying too hard to convince me how good of a man he is.

So glad I came across this video. It confirms for me that i did the right thing in cutting a guy off. I met a guy off a dating site & I was initially physically attracted to him upon seeing him and after our first date. After that, I struggled with my attraction because the way he dressed turned me off, as well as a few other things (he started to get boring). Other than that tho, he was a really nice/sweet guy and treated me well. For that reason alone, I debated whether or not to continue seeing him. My thought process being - he’s a good guy, he treats me well, there was some attraction initially. I figured I could give him a chance to grow on me. But that fell apart pretty quickly. He would make plans, and I just wasn’t motivated to put in the effort to see him. That’s when I knew I should just let it go/cut it off before it went further. I didn’t want to waste his time. He deserves someone fully into him.

Yesssss, suffering from chronic dating fatigue right now! 😒 However, I don't think it's cos I'm drawing things out unnecessarily. I can certainly relate to "feeling bad" for not giving guys a chance if there's not an initial attraction, especially when families are involved in introducing us, but attraction is more than just looks, it's energy, so I'm letting that be my guide. Also, I do tend to cut the "men" loose (I use that term loosely) if they're rude, disrespectful, only after sex, inappropriate, insecure, immature or just plain weird. It's more the quantity of odd bods that I find myself sifting through just to get to 1 who's "normal", and even then it's questionable. 🙄 That's what's emotionally exhausting.

In my experience I don't ever underestimate the power of attachment, anymore, that develops even when you initially not attracted to him or there were red flags or just things missing that make you turned off, attachment is a real thing ha and sort of takes control and then it's harder to leave, not because of your actual connection but purely because of attachment. I took the advice to not go for guys based on looks and I'm average in attractiveness and yes chemicals kick in, but there was a part of me that simultaneously felt put off and kind of repelled (just being honest), I just allowed that to take the back seat. I've taken the advice to let attraction build even in personality trait wise and I'm so done with that because it completely negates my intuition, my natural connection and compatibility. I know the areas that need exercise for a healthy relationship (trust, communication, etc ) but there are many things that really should be there without effort. There is so much biased bad advice based on people's own opinion like the ones I listed. so I appreciate Stephans more practical and real advice... finally people are calling things as they are. Ain't no shame in not being attracted to certain people. I know I'm not everyones cup of tea and I wouldn't want to be.

Stephan thank you. That would be a great film, the "pity lady" who ended up married for 10 years. Another danger of getting involved with a man you're not attracted to is that he can end up pursuing you just to make a point to his own ego. This happened to me. As soon as he had proved his point i.e. I had became attached, he ended it. He later confirmed that he was determined to make me attracted to him after the first date when I was straight with him that I only wanted a friendship. You live and learn!!!!

The physical attraction thing is real! I tried to not pay so much attention to that and it was not a good ending. Lol. I was thinking, "Well... if even my pastor said it's important... I should have listened!" 🤣🤣

Taking time to heal is key before entering into any relationship. Once you have done the inner work and taken time to heal you look at things much differently in every aspect of your life. You understand that you are in control of the partners you pick and decide to pursue a relationship with. As a result you take pride and respect the choices you make. If you decide to enter a relationship with someone where there is no physical attraction, you are being disrespected, talked down or are ignoring red flags ask yourself... Why are you tolerating this? What are you looking to have come out of this relationship? Only you can answer these questions and many others like these; and only you have the power to do something about it. 💛 Self love, trust, respect and letting your intuition be your guide will help you develop a healthy relationship with yourself and in turn with others as well. 🙏♥️🕊️

Yep attraction is important. It doesn’t have to be the main interest. I felt guilty for cutting a guy off but I tried and I just couldn’t keep him around.
