I am severely disabled, I have stenosis in my lumbar spine and cervical spine, plus I have rotator cuff tears and snapped tendons in my shoulders. I have severe problems cleaning myself after using the toilet. I have tried many of these types of cleaning wands and I find them all too big and clumsy. They may be ok for the less disabled person. My solution is a toothbrush with the longest handle you can find, wrap toilet paper around the bristles then use it to clean yourself. It works great. It is easy to clean and it can be kept in a small jar near the toilet.

For instance, I need a taller toilet. Soft ladder in bed for sitting up, reorganize food so it's not on the bottom, floor level shelves. Cup with long straw for drinking from a lying down position. I bet you have a lot of hints and tips.

I find that wrapping the wand with TP, once you’ve knotted and placed it in the gripper, helps keep the wand from getting soiled. They’re are demonstrating how to attach the paper based on a video from the designer. But, I’ve found wrapping the wand and tucking the end into the hole on the wand, works best. Be sure to wrap the TP over the gripper so you don’t soil that part, as well. This is a great tool when you’re not at home, but getting a bidet seat is much better.

The so-called Freedom Wand is far too large. I have spinal stenosis and both my shoulders have limited movement and there is no way I can use one. I have tried. It is easier to wrap toilet paper around an old toothbrush. It gets in easier and it is easy to change the paper. The same goes for raised toilet seats, they are designed by non-disabled people who seem to have no idea what a disabled person requires.

I have a back injury and have struggled with this.. I first purchased a wand ( not this one) but one from Walgreens. But it was too large and cumbersome and the pincher broke within no time. So I came up with my own solution. I bought a toothbrush specifically for this purpose. Then I take a long piece of toilet paper and fold it in half two or three times then place the toothbrush half way onto the folded paper then fold the top half back over the toothbrush then fold the sides over eachother and twist everything around the handle till its tightly covered then wipe and then pull off and dispose. I keep a toothbrush in my purse in a baggy as well for times I am out in public restrooms. Very discreet😊

I came here to see demos on how to use these devices and found BnB! So, knowing their videos are of good quality, I watched their video first. I’ve seen similar devices on Amazon, but this one seems superior. 1. It’s made in the USA. 2. It has variable lengths, which can be necessary for various needs and users. 3. It can be easily transported, as it breaks down. 4. The end seems narrow enough to get the job done properly. 5. This one has the hand strap, which others don’t. For some, the strap may be quite helpful. The only thing this video didn’t show was how to use it. But, other diagrams and videos show that, so it’s not completely necessary. I think the features mentioned above, may justify the higher cost.

For men, stuck with one of those smaller round toilet seats instead of the oblong style better suited for men, these rods are hard to use. Bidets don't necessarily clean you enough. And I've used a Japanese toilet with all the extras...the warm stream, etc. You still need paper. Then the warm stream. Low back disc problems can cause sheer agony if they move when wiping. I hate not being able to wipe myself, but sadly it happens and you gotta do what you gotta do and ask for help sometimes. I had two discectomies in January and February 2017 L4L5 level, herniated once then reherniated severely about 3 weeks later and needed a 2nd discectomy. Was doing well up until September 2017 when I reherniated again. Went to get a fusion at L4L5 level on the 20th of December and during surgery my surgeon found my S1 vertebrae was loose and moving around. I had what they call spondylosis (I had two cracks in my S1). Anyway he fused L4-S1 and I'm currently almost 2 months out and I feel so amazing that it still is blowing my mind. My body hasn't felt this great since 2016 before I first hurt my back. But to get back to the point, after my fusion my lower back was in so much pain for the first 2 weeks I could barely even get close enough to wipe myself and had to have help, as I'm assuming most post operative patients need help. So it's nice seeing this tool to help, but if your someone who needs help wiping, don't be afraid to ask! It is embarrassing, but were all human and if someone loves you enough they'll help you out lol. Just wanted to share my story on this issue and why I couldn't wipe for a period of time. So if you are someone who needs a fusion you'll need a lot of help for a bit, but you'll get over the hump and be on the road to recovery! Not saying a fusion helps everyone and their sciatica, but it sure helped mine! I was so reluctant to get fused, but glad I did cause they found an underlying issue and fixed it with a second fusion and now my body feels so stable and is completely pain free!

I just had total shoulder replacement three days ago. Off topic a bit, I've been hearing air leak I'm assuming coming from the surgical sight...not 100% sure maybe it's all in my head. There is no pain, infact I've noticed so much of the stiffness has gone away. My shoulder still feels weak. I'm hoping things are healing correctly.

That tiny bit of paper isn’t even large enough to wipe. And I’ve gone from four pieces, six pieces and eight pieces. They all fall out. I’m using it the way I should. I’m having hip replacement next week and I’m distressed.

Sure enough I could barely wipe my own butt for almost 2 years. It was even worse in the shower. I had to hold onto the top of the shower just to support myself to reach down there and wash. It was a nightmare, but I got through it. It's been 4 years since the accident and I have good days and bad days. I started my own business because of how unreliable my back is. While I can't schedule around it I can take part in ecommerce. The post man delivers and picks up everything I could ever need. I'm even back to being able to move 80lb bags of concrete carefully. If I do it right. There's just no way I can lift one but I can transfer them a good 2 feet. So out of the back of the truck and into a wheelbarrow or onto a cart thats right there that I can do. Shoveling and raking is still the worst though. But at the same time I am getting exercise and I'm keeping my muscles active. However the moment my back goes sideways I'm totally screwed for a couple days. It's all still so unpredictable.

A bath scrub brush..long wooden handle in the shower will work. Just remove the screen on the drain.

Brilliant guys! I am looking for ways to handle this situation for after shoulder surgery and you show using two hands to apply the TP! Ain't going to help!

They showed how to do it one-handed, too.

I can’t see this working all that well. device you still have a lot of twisting but you need to be able to get significant paper or better wet toilet disposable wipes and the claw situation just doesn’t seem that workable. I’m right now having this issue with my back and it is hell to reach the back...cry in pain he’ll. But when you live by yourself and are in 60s ..you aren’t ready to have to call someone,to help nor go in a rehab every time your back goes out. It is just awful. But I don’t see this working well. I have an idea that I think will work well , is more sanitary than this and I think will be easier. I just need my back to improve enough to make up mock up. Also..who is going to take this to a sink in a public bathroom in front of people to clean. To mention if it gets fecal matter..you don’t want that in a hands sink. Why is it that guys don’t think these things through. They should have actually used it to clean themselves a few times (private) and maybe had several patients try and give opinion before bringing out to show.

All of us can adjust as needed and wipe from the front. Would you rather have people yell for someone to wipe them or walk around with poop in their pants because they can't wipe?
@IAMGiftbearer4 жыл бұрын
@@TheGoddessHope Nope. Can't reach it that way.
@sclogse14 жыл бұрын
My answer..a back scrubber brush in the shower. Just remove the screen in the drain. Plenty of soap....east reach. Lively.

I am curious if this would work with my father that has Neuopathy in his hands its kind of hard for him to open an close hands, an wonder if he would have the strength to pinch the toilet paper to place into the feeder.
@antoinettev80097 жыл бұрын
if he cannot.... would he get money back or how would that work?

Aren't there any exercises to increase flexibility and range if you can't reach your derriere, instead of using an aid.
@zmanpianoman Жыл бұрын
Is there a stretching exercise that will give you more flexibility to help your reach back there and clean yourself. Not a tool.

My daughter has a progressive disease and easy everyday tasks have become very difficult now :( This is a good idea and helps preserve her dignity for awhile longer, especially since she’s only 18. Wet toilet wipes might be awesome to use too.

I'm looking for something like this and for the most part, it looks like it would be very helpful but in my case, I need something with much more of a curve. Presently I use a cane. I just wrap the toilet paper around the end and then use twist ties to keep it in place. It works but I have to believe that there is a product out that would be more user friendly.
@thatgirlfromdabronx91986 жыл бұрын
brians48now A bidet is best but expensive so you can buy squirt bottles like for mustard/ketchup from a dollar store. Fill with warm water. Squirt water on you privates towards inside toilet bowl. Drs give peri-care bottles like that for women after childbirth. Dry with a towel after. Less expensive than this wand.
