On Today's Episode:
If you’ve ever been triggered by something that on the outside seemed so small and insignificant, and your reaction sent you into a wave of shame and embarrassment over how over the top it was, stop everything you’re doing and listen up!
Nicole LePera is one of our favorite friends on this show, and today she is stacking pieces of this complex puzzle that is us together in a way that clarifies the connection between the triggers we experience now as adults and our childhood challenges. Her new workbook, How to Meet Yourself is a wonderful way to get in touch with your inner self and use your heart to heal your past trauma .
You may be dealing with shame around your body or feeling disconnected from yourself and can’t really explain why. In this episode we’re deep diving on how to recognize when you’re operating in the present moment from your past experiences. To make sure this episode hits extra hard on how you can turn yourself around, we’re unpacking emotional entanglement and why you have to stop villainizing your ego and see it for what it really is.
Check out Nicole’s latest book, How to Meet Yourself: www.amazon.com...

QUOTES:
“When we’re talking about these emotional reactions, we’re actually talking about things that are sensations that are stored in our body.” [5:23]
“All of our habits are grounded in a best attempt at creating safety by adapting to an environment.” [12:32]
“Over time the safer we feel paying attention to [our body], the more conscious we’ll become of all of those underlying sensations.” [26:10]
“Even outside of our senses the reality of it is that most of us are cycling in past memories.” [30:05]
“So many of us grew up as an extension of our parents.” [33:16]
“I view narcissism as a self focused survival based mechanism where that person is only trying to literally maintain their survival often at the expense of their children.” [38:45]
“The more consistently conscious we are the more the more we can make different choices before we lose that control.” [45:45]
“How we feel in our skin very much does translate to how we feel about ourselves.” [54:26]
“We are always filtering and determining what is of personal relevance, and what’s of personal relevance are our deep-rooted beliefs…” [1:02:26]
“Ego is a story of us very much grounded in our lived experiences…” [1:03:07]
“What feels like disproportionate reactions actually aren’t disproportionate. They are safety making mechanisms.” [1:04:33]

I had ADD as a child. As an adult. It's turned into ADHD. I've learned that having this deficit; you're triggered easily, paranoid, impulsive & no filter. And it all makes sense as I'm navigating through my new journey as I can teach the ones around me for my issues while also working on myself as well.

From a Christian perspective, spending time with God gives us the ability to root out those traumas that are stored inside, and we allow Jesus to completely heal us from the inside out. This is why we see a lot of screaming during some deliverance, because the stored trauma takes form of an evil spirit that arrived during the trauma, and as it exists, it screams both the evil spirit that’s leaving to be cast back into the abyss by the power of Christ, and the actual person is screaming releasing the stored trauma. Jesus offered a beautiful thing for us through healing and deliverance when he conquered death. Unfortunately a lot of Christians have not experienced full deliverance and they are still in the process of the healing; that’s why it’s important to know the character of Jesus and God and be drawn to the source, not to other people. Love this discussion so much, ladies! It’s insightful on the issue of triggers.

Thank you!! I truly NEEDED this I've been needing some help with self care, self support, self-soothing, and being able to manage my temper and use REAL soulful solutions rather than just being told to breathe and relax. I don't want the weight of anything nasty to carry on any longer. I want to live free and unbothered and secure within myself and I appreciate the words you've shared on this one and I really aspire to grow and be able to help others like you have one day 🌻✨️

She hit the nail on the head with so many things that I have been questioning with other speakers. Thank you for this interview. I will definitely be looking for her book ❤

Lisa, Loosing a cherished member of the family, our dog, is profound. I'm so saddened to hear of his passing. They feel for us too. Last February 14th, I was being barraged by the narcissistic manfriend I had put out of my home and life. I thought I was having a heart attack, as the emotional pain was so severe. I suffered all evening and night, still trying to ignore the man. In the morning I patted the dogs and let them out and back in. I went for my shower and then found my big boy Lincoln passed on. He had not been ill. I profoundly believe that he took my pain 'to heart'. I have taken his death as my sign to take the entire situation VERY SERIOUSLY. He sent me a message that I keep close to my heart.

I've had breaks in relationships 💔 for months, year's for expressing hurt feelings. 😢 Am I to stuff my feelings when I'm really hurt....?? I don't think it's bad to say "Hey you really hurt me in a calm way!" Lots of people hurt you and they then when you say something they turn on you like it's you.WOW!! You should ask for respect I think in these matters .Maybe it's a trigger from childhood?? But whatever when the person doesn't apologize it's hurtful. My mother would scream at me as a teenager then act like she never tore me apart.I know we carry these hurts through adulthood it's horrible but we're trying to protect ourselves later.

Lovely that you're visiting this information, but it's not new. HeartMath Institute and Dr. Joe Dispenza has taught this heart/brain coherence reality for many years now. Many others have talk about these other elements as well. I'm so glad that you are now becoming aware of this important information as it is alluding to one of the major keys to humanity's evolution toward a world with less pain and suffering. Wishing you well in your development.

Thank you for sharing these useful skills. I liked how you spoke about the “Conditioned self”, and the “suppressed self.” I been working on listening to my feelings and grounding myself. I feel the constrictions in moments that I am stressed and this is signal to stop take some breaths and find out what I need in that moment. Your lecture is so helpful and the entire thing about the heart is fascinating.

Nicole Lepara is such a problematic entity. The holistic psychologist is a (sadly successful) marketing attempt to exploit others' work while filtering out controversial but key pieces of healing in an attempt to make it more palatable aka profitable. Lisa, I'm so disturbed by the direction your choice of guests has taken. 💔
@OiBerry
@OiBerry Жыл бұрын
@Bee That much of people suffering is caused by systemic issues and no amount of work or therapy will help them address those issues, only cope with them. Lots of spiritual bypassing from her/her team. The Holistic Psychologist is her partner (who embezzled from her own nonprofit) just capitalizing on Nicole's credentials. She's like Jordan Peterson. Their basic ideas aren't wrong but the fluff around their words is ignorant, at best. Usually actually harmful. But even a broken clock is twice a day, or whatever the kids say.

If it ain't woke enough about the dancing freely. nothing wrong with dancing and showing it all, but the ones who are rude and crude still make me wince that they don't have more positive a way of being and seeing themselves as bots or individuals.[there is a difference self respect.] Not everything is wonderful to behold. OMG, LOL. I agree that is is being homogenized as being her work, not her interpretation of others work. Just because I try to not judge, I am not going to toss my own way of discerning the truth of what is presented overall. Not checking out of my mind to pursue that shadow either. Been doing that work for 40 years Plus and still never done or perfect. Never will be....
