Here's a crazy idea so hear me out, what if there were games where if you abandon a quest it changes the world around you. So for instance there might be a town in the game and a bunch of quest givers, as you take and abandon quests the towns people will take on a negative demeanor to the player. Growing more and more negative the more you abandon quests until you're no longer allowed in town or even them becoming hostile. The reason being the abandoned quest defaults to a failure and alters the people and things around you accordingly.

That honestly would be a cool addition to a game and a nice change of pace to how most games handle side quests in that you can't even abandon them most of the time. I feel like each time we get a skit involving Fred and one of his kids it's a different one of his kids each time. For example, in one he had lost a daughter and said to search near the wolf dens, then when she was back immediately let her go and play somewhere alone. Now this one could have been the same quest but rowan just not doing it, but I personally believe it's a completely different daughter he's talking about. Makes me imagine that Fred just has a bunch of different quests all really similar, and most players think it's just a recurring quest with a pitiful reward, but it turns out he just has like 12 kids that all need to be found to get the proper reward.

Yep, as my neighbor said it's mostly an MMO trait. Classic RPGs like Morrowind, Skyrim or Baldur's Gate just let quests pile up in your logbook. The most common way of losing a quest is actually to complete another one conflicting with the former. Truth be told, I don't know what's worse. Like Rowan, logging back into an RPG after a few months of hiatus and opening your Journal of 60+ quests divided into many cathegories (hello Assassin's Creed Odyssey...) is a terrifying experience.

I was expecting Britt to show up with his daughter and him thanking her and then immediately going back to yelling at Rowan and how he'll never see his daughter again thanks to him haha

I love these guys. I look forward to seeing their videos every time a new one pops up because the world needs this type of content right now.

I really expected it to proceed till the point where Fred learns that Rowan is fixing Greg’s fence

Ever since Greg snapped after being skipped it seems like the player ensures he always does Greg’s quests

I don't understand why anyone would abandon a quest just doing one at a time prioritize the ones you do want to do you'll get around to it eventually

i usually check map ,either game or available online, to see which ones are in the same area, so you don't have to backtrack 20 times.

You guys need to have an rpg game made, even if it’s a pixel game, I’d buy it, I’d back it if you kickstarted it. Make it happen! It would be the greatest game

Fred's questline actually leads to the fastest mount in the game AND it can fly too. Can't believe you abandoned on him.

Should of reversed it on him and had the adventurer pull out a a quest titled "Fred, the Father Finds his Fricken kids"

These are the kinds of interactions we need in games. Ones where your choices or lack of have actual and moral consequences. These kinds of interactions need to be more common place.

There are actually some quests in ME3 like this. If the player does not complete them in time, they auto-fail. So one has to be really careful about when they accept and complete their side quests.

I absolutely dream a RPG with these reactions among NPCs.
