For those on a budget, but want a good beginner airbrush, the Neo for iwata, is a great entry level brush I use for models and art to this day alongside an harder and steenbeck evolution.

Yes, agreed the Neo is also a great option however the parts aren't as durable and if you split the nozzle then its costly to replace, hence why I prefer the CS or even the revolution series.

@@AirbrushAsylum this is true even in the uk. I have industry contacts from when I owned a model shop and yeah…. But treat it right and it’ll serve ya well. I’ve only ever replace a needle and a single nozzle. In five years, and the needle was entirely my own fault for not being careful,

I started with a siphon feed Badger 150 then decided to try gravity feed, which is much better for my use. So I ordered a Master Airbrush kit, did not like the mechanics of it, the needle didnt not move in and out correctly. Then I got a Iwata HP BS, which works awesomely but I found the .7 ml cup was a pita to deal with on larger projects. So I got a Ultra 2 n 1, I liked the larger cup but the friction fit cup was not great. So I FINALLY bit the bullet and bought a Iwata HP CS and never looked back. It does everything I need very well, easy to mix in the cup and lays down paint like a boss. I would say, buy once, cry once, get a good one right off the bat and you will end up saving alot of time, money and frustration.

Thanks! I think I'll go with the GSI CREOS. As an art teacher I cant believe I have never air brushed before. This is going to be fun! Now, what paint do I want? I heard cheep paint can clog you brush more often.
@AirbrushAsylum

The GSI Creos is a fantastic choice, in regards to paint I like using trident airbrush paint and Createx illustration colors, stay away from really cheap paint as you are correct that it can clog your brush and also they don’t flow very well and you will spend half the time straining your paint and wasting so much of it whereas good airbrush paint will last you for years 😉👍🏻 hope that helps

For crying out loud. Bend the suction hose towards the front of the bottle so it will remain in the paint as you tilt the bottle and gun...If it's not long enough, replace it with longer plastic hose.

I do love the iwata eclipse HPCS or BCS if you want a suction feed instead however they are not that cheap. You could also look at the revolution HP.BCR (suction) or CR (gravity) they are also great for heavy use . Other than that a Chinese brush like gaahleri ghad-68 will work or you could look at the Taiwanese sparmax brushes. Hope that helps 👍🏻👍🏻

I'm basically new to airbrushing and the harder and steenbeck silverline 2 in 1 is great. 0.2 and 0.4 needles in the box with the option to get 0.15 and 0.6 needle's and nozzles. Can also be used with non acrylic paints like enamel without damage.

Hi there, im looking at buying my first airbrush ( no experience), how important is the MAC valve, do I really need one for my first airbrush? I have a local model shop that supplies FINEART 180X and the 186AK I’m looking at as it comes in a set, some HARDER & STEENBECK but are very pricey and they haven’t got the new 2024 ULTRA which supposed to be good for beginners Advice would be grateful
@AirbrushAsylum
@AirbrushAsylum 10 ай бұрын
As it is your first airbrush, the MAC valve isn't essential. It is handy as you can overthin your paint and lower your psi however you need good control to really optimise its performance. I would suggest looking at an airbrush that has a 0.3 or 0.35mm nozzle and something that feels comfortable when you hold it, as some brushes are heavier than others and comfort is a factor that is often overlooked as most people just buy online. Hope that helps 😉

Right now I’ve finished my night shift I can watch the video before I go to sleep 😊 Ok thank you for the reply, I thought the same as I didn’t want to over complicate things as I start, rightly or wrongly during my shift I ordered the FENGDA BD -130K, I chose it as it comes as a set inc 1/8” hose, 0.2 0.3 & 0.5 needles then I intend to buy a compressor with a tank, air filter and pressure adjuster I will start watching you videos for tips etc and see how I get on then upgrade the gun as I feel more confident, problem I have here in Hungary there’s no shops I can handle them for comfort fit first only order online and go collect, again thank you for the reply I’ve subscribed so I can catch up with some homework ☺️

Best airbrush for anyone... is the Iwata Eclipse HP-CS or SBS . The Eclipse uses a dual taper .35 needle. This makes it more durable and aids in finer lines. Also, the .35 nozzle and head assembly are actually converting the the air pressure inside the gun. This is why iwata can atomize paint at much lower air pressure than all others. Also just as important for successful airbrush work, is your paint reduction and your aircompressor. It must have a holding tank or you will get paint pulsation in your finer paint lines. There are alot of well made airbrushes on the market, but they simply do not have the technology that iwata does. (other than the discontinued and original, Olympos)

@@69generalleegirl the old iwata hp-b used on ebay is around 80. I have bought a few used airbrushes on there with no issue. Just long as there are good picture you should be ok. The hp-c is usually a little more. But there is big difference. Iwata is in a different league honestly

I couldn't disagree with you more. "This is why iwata can atomize paint at much lower air pressure than all others" Not true. You have a bad case of brand purism. The Micron is the pinnacle of airbrushes, but the Creos PS-771 is said to spray exactly like one. I never used a Micron so I don't know how true that is, but I can't imagine it performing any better than my 771. The Badger Sotar 20/20 can atomize paint better and at much lower pressures than an Eclipse, hands down. My Eclipse rarely gets used. Throw down a little extra and get an Iwata HP-C plus for a first brush that will do everything, and make you better. But if you paint models and minis, grab the new H&S Ultra for 120 bucks. It was made with what you do in mind.
@frankartale1026

@@airbrushdungeon I see how it seems like i'm a brand purist. I'm not. I have used all these different airbrushes. I 've owned them all. I had the sotar 20 years ago and again 5 yrs ago along with h&s etc... iwata eclipse hp-cs and sbs are a much better design and performer. We can agree to disagree. I guess it all depends what u spray and your use case. As far as the sotar 20/20. That thing is a goofball airbrush. I really don't like it.

Hi there thank you for your video first one I've ever watched about airbrushing as an encaustic wax/ oil paint with a trowel artist it is the opposite of my type of art.... but I really want to airbrush my designer handbags when I am re-colouring them. So it would just be one colour going over the top of canvas or leather, so I think I would go for that single button use ,gravity filler one? thank you to your info and I will now look at the cheap versus branded... If you see this post and feel like recommending an airbrush that would be appreciated

Thank for your kind words and glad you enjoyed my vid 🙏🏻 even though a single action brush would work fine (you could look at the Paasche H) if you do decide to go for a single action ? That said keep in mind a double action (once you get the feel for it) is SO much more versatile , it will allow you to still easily airbrush flat colours, but also easily add effects and later on you could also do artwork. Not saying you can’t do that with a single action, but I find the double action will give you a brush that will be able to do it all…if you are tempted by a double action then the Iwata HP.CS eclipse is fantastic or you could take a look at the GSi Creos PS.289 . **Here are a few Amazon affiliate links, meaning we receive a small commission for any qualifying sales - Iwata HP.CS : geni.us/hpcseclipse (ON AMAZON) GSI Creos PS.289 : geni.us/ps289 (ON AMAZON) Paasche H set : geni.us/paascheHset (ON AMAZON) Hope that helps 👍🏻🤩

Hi there, not all videos are sponsored and in this case this video was not, I just demonstrated with my own brushes they were not gifted so that I would mention either brand, it is purely what I love using and can guarantee that they will last, as I have had and used them for years. If you are looking to purchase a cheaper brand not mentioned then definitely do some research here on YT, also keep in mind there are some other great options that are cheaper than the ones I mentioned, but also great brushes, Iwata Neo HP.CN, Iwata Revolution HP.CR and if you want siphon then the Paasche VL or Talon for gravity as well as Badger and Harder and Steenbeck also all make great brushes and all vary in pricing. If you are looking to get more info on the products that I mention, then check out the description of the video that you are watching as I have links listed there to related products, hope that helps.

I do not agree. Double action is a marketing scam. It is a reduced mechanism and as such cheaper for the producer without any advantage for the user. No car has double action throttle pedal for a reason. It would not pass any test whatsoever. Such cars would be forbiddes due to lack of control over the vehicle. Gaz and air are combined in any car with no double action needed whatsoever. Double action IS a marketing stunt. Do not fall for it.
