@@dungeonpastor8295 It's because half of their legion turned traitor and became "the fallen" It is something they want to hide at all costs so they hunt those fallen around the galaxy to erase their dark secret. This is why some people say that they're traitors as a whole. Seems like this joke will never get old so if you want to play dark angels, you have to deal with it 🤷🏻‍♂️

@Jed Nobles Basically, half of them tried to play both sides during the Horus Heresy because they were bitter at their absorption into the larger Imperium. Thus, they became dubbed as the Fallen, as they tried to sabotage the Imperium at many occasions before disappearing again, the Loyalist Dark Angels are on the lookout for them and are extremely paranoid as a consequence.

Or so his Berserkers claim. And yet, the tribal primitives who follow him reject "weak" or "unworthy" blood and skulls and seek only the best for Khorne. That these people also tend to be amped up by him to almost Space Marine levels seems to imply something. Something tells me the word of living weapons genetically and hypnotically modified to be mentally and emotionally focused on killing and warfare is not the most trustworthy when it comes to something as vague as Chaos.

I'd def hold off then, TS are one of the worst armies in the game atm and have been for a hot minute, the fact they neutered the psychic phase to favor heavily the other non psycher focused armies and the fact TSons have a very low model count if your not just spamming chickens or cultists severely hinders them, wait till they get their new codex and even then I won't hold my breathe for them, GW has made it clear for the last 3 editions they hate this faction and only ever throw us fans a bone exclusively because theres so many of us that would quit the moment gw gets rid of Tsons.

I have to say I much prefer using 30k space marines as my 40K Alpha Legion. The current chaos space marines don’t really really fit with the alpha legion in my opinion.

@@lordflouncehart Same here. I use the tactical squads with some custom bits to make my Alpha Legion look like horus heresy era troops. An added bonus was that I was able to trick my friends into thinking I was making an Ultramarines army until I deployed them on the table. That was a fun 4 month project.

I chose Alpha Legion for my second army before I looked at the rules just loved the book Legion and their lore. Their stratagems are super fun especially blowing up enemy vehicles. Doing a lot more kitbashing then I’m used to. Did really well against AdMech in their first game. Hope they get a unique model or unit and keep or get more flavour in the new codex

shame they cant just do a mini index for chaos like they did marines chapters to alter wounds and points .. at moment if they pumped the wounds it would conflict with some of the strats and things chaos can do .. possibly breaking some combos .... imagine currently 3w chaos marines, all with combi plasma/melta, shooting twice . all with a 5fnp and ignoring cover lol Its a shame they cant tweak the wounds yet but I guess it will require jsut to much of an errata faq to bring it in line with all the playstyles currently and keep it fair .. fingers crossed they drop the book by June though

I am working on a force of Death Guard that is from the Corpsemakers. I am not having Mortarion but lots of Plague Marines infantry and a small host of Nurgle Demon allies. I will return to Black Legion as that was what I very first painted in December 95 when I started Warhammer.

I run Red Corsairs with an Alpha Legion patrol. It means you don't start with any command points then other army's and a big blob of Marines can come back and you still get the Alpha Legion strats

Saying this as an Emperor's Children player (and big fan), Iron Warriors is BETTER than Emperor's Children and is better than all the other Chaos Legions (excluding Death Guard, of coarse) at the moment on the tabletop. Exploding 6s to hit with Legion Daemon units as an aura is powerful which you can stack with a ton of buffs on Obliterators to be hitting on 2s, rerolling 1s, exploding 6s, +1 to wound, rerolling 1s and cannot be targeted if you have cultists. And you can reroll the stats on there guns without casting a spell. Also, loved the Dark Angels joke.

Slightly misunderstanding WE. They’re a counter attack faction that specializes in board control and stealing objectives. Obsec units that can perform 15” of movement after killing a unit in melee is an amazing strategic tool when you understand how much abuse pile in and consolidate moves allow. Instead of a bum rush you instead hold objectives with cheap chaff type things force the opponent forward then jump out berserker units that are hiding. As such at their best they actually play quite a balanced force. Chaff to hold, some ranged to aggravate and kill key threats then melee units to counter punch.

While i like noise marines, i recently realized khorne berzerkers can fight twice, I'd probably never play them but it's silly they can have 2 chainswords and a strategem lets them fight a third time

@@shizuoheiw 2x Chainsword is illegal, has to be Chainsword/Chainaxe, Chainsword/Bolt Pistol, Chainaxe/Bolt Pistol, Chainsword/Plasma Pistol, or Chainaxe/Plasma Pistol. Usually it's best to run Chainsword/Chainaxe and just throw a Frag/Krak Grenade in Shooting Phase. PROTIP: More than 5 Berserkers in a unit is overkill, run them MSU; you can fit 2 units in 1 Rhino. Take Lightning Claws on Champions, Combi-Meltas and Lightning Claws on Red Butchers (unit of 8 or 10)

I've seen things you wouldn't believe. World Eater Berserkers leaping forth from their ''murder'' Rhino with 10 attacks each. I watched the Lord of Skulls swing its giant rending axe, I couldn't help but be bathed within its shower of gore. Enormous Brass Scorpions skittering overhead, across the battlefield searching endlessly for more chaos. All those wars will not be lost in time because war never changes. Blood for the Blood God! :P

@@SunlitGuide It’s difficult and nobody really knows for sure; there are even rumors that the twins didn’t work together, but actually sabotaged each other during the horus heresy. And then there is the fact that the Alpha Legion was always set up to be fully functional without its primarch, but nobody knows to what end. Who knows what they really plan after 10k years and where their loyality truly lies.

While of course still not top tier world eaters are very strong when played as a counter offensive army instead of just a straight melee army. When it comes to red butchers it is of course strong on a squad of terminators however putting it on a terminator lord is also a really strong option.

A few corrections; Luthor beat the Lion but was so wracked by grief that he went insane and the Lion won in the end. The Word Bearers are the first legion to turn to Chaos. Slowly turning over decades before their apostles infiltrated the lodges of their brother legions.

Thousand Sons and Death Guard are my faves, so I am super happy with the updated models they both got in the last few years. BUT World Eaters and Emperor's Children deserve the same treatment. New berzerkers and noise marines. New characters and units with the same style and flair as the excellent AoS Khorne and Slaanesh minis. And of course, Angron and Fulgrim. I would also like to see legion upgrade kits for the CSM kit, similar to what loyalists have gotten. Bionics for Iron Warriors. Skull/wing helmets for Night Lords. Maybe scaly capes or loincloths for Alpha Legion. I think these few additions would make the choice of legions just a little bit harder.

Play Emperors Children and run them with 3 defilers for heavy support, 2 termite drills full of 10 noise marines each and supporting characters of a MoP, Disco lord and Fabious Bile who buffs a squad of terminators. Defeated a great number of DG terminators thanks to a consistent amount of constant output and mid damage weapons all round with enough melta from the terminators and the drills to make my turn 2 a tank shredding mess. Also doesn’t hurt to have enough attacks on basic noise marines to get out of chaff with excess of violence to double down on that. Where this army shines is stuffing drugs into the terminators to make them 7” movement and T5 with both Fabious and 2cp drugs to make a fast tough blob of good defence.

I am thinking of starting a side army using the creations of bile and their special rule to do a chaos take on the dark angels. Obsec chaos terminators, bikes and a few troops for good measure

I made up my own Warband called "The Festering" that were a Nurgle Warband that were known to use Daemons. This ended up being a split army of Death Guard and Daemons last edition, was pretty decent. Thing is my scheme was almost identical to the scheme they picked for the Death Guard when they got a book, right down to the oxide blue on the metal (although I do rusting on my silver metals too) so now it basically just looks like I have basic Death Guard. I have been thinking on changing my scheme a little bit for 9th, as I just got 2k points worth of new plastic to mess with. I do really like the dorty green armour with the brass trim though, it's my thing. I'm thinking of having the armour actually bare ceramite though, just highly stained. so theres gonna be bits of the stained white streaked in. I have to try it out though. I know a guy n papa nurgle used to water down white so it was almost translucent, then would streak it over his dirty green. it would look like it was dirty white then, his technique was great though, I couldn't replicate it. I am a better painter now though, so maybe I can make that work. I bought some valejo model colour white anyway, as Citadel white is crap!! hopefully this is gonna help. I had started to paint in knees and shoulders as dirty white, but I can't think of a good enough lore reason for this to be a thing. why would they clean their knees? and why would nurgle not infect certain parts of the armour? I mean you could say that it's a ritual where they clean a part of the armour, but honestly it's weak. nurgle wouldn't clean anything. I think just having some parts of the old bare ceramite just not fully crusted yet, is the best way to do it. also dude, I am missing there not being all the colour schemes for the different nurgle CSM factions not being in the 9yh edition codex. I don't actually own the 8th edition one (I think that one does) I'm going to have to get one though, as it's always great having this stuff for reference.

Iron Warriors can field the nastiest units of havocs in game. With the Investment of 4 CP you can fire 8 shots lasacanon hitting on +2 wounding everything on +2 and reroll hit and wound rolls of 1 and in addition the dmg roll. Id say Iron warriors are one of the stronger if not the strongest Chaos legion right now. They also can heal their warmachienes with a stratagem 3 wounds per turn

It's more of an infantry than vehicle meta so.. las cannon are good but kinda useless against msu, and 4cp is a lot to invest.

@@gurvan1548 you can do the same thing with chaincannons and get 64 shoots out in 1 round of shooting out of 4 guys with s5 1AP d1 but votlow makes them wound better soo its good against inf too, only downside that havocs have just 1 wound but ill hope they fix that soon
