From someone that played Genji nearly from the launch of OW1, a consistent defensive play style will not only carry you but your team as well. Being able to suddenly defend your supports or other dps let’s you turn fights in your favor extremely fast, especially if you can convert the kill into an ult where they are down a hero and usually out of position. Offense is nice, but mastering how to defend your teammates can make you a force to be reckoned with
@Saben.C-Spoon2 жыл бұрын
As another legacy Genji player, I agree 100%. You have to know how to balance your offensive play with defense. pure offense and flanking/diving into the enemy team with no backup is what gets most genji players (and then their team) wiped. He isnt just a pure flanking character, even if he's good at it. Most of the time you want your "flanking" to be more of a sandwiching of the enemy team between your team and you, it ain't your job to solo wipe the entire team. TLDR You cannot perform to the maximum without your team, so protect them when they need it.

I always broke them down in groups Classics -Ashe Cassidy soldier 76 and sojourn - pretty much basic hit scan fps style players with a main shot and a alternate shot usually with the same weapon they also have a grenade like ability and a limited mobile move Flankers - Reaper Sombra Tracer and gengi - these heroes are great at getting around the center of the fight without being seen and then attacking from the side or from behind usually picking off healers or other squishes except for gengi all of them have a close range weapon an ability that allows them to move around the opponents unseen and a oh crap ability that lets them get out of trouble with some sort of movement gengi is somewhat similar although he has a longer range weapon and more constant movement and can also attack head on Range - widowmaker and Hanzo - pretty self explanatory they are all about finding the perfect locations to hit perfect angles before the foe knows what happened Flyers - Echo and pharaoh - have more dimensional movement being able to use the air to attack without rebuke Specials - Mei Junkrat torbjorn symmetra and bastion - pretty much don’t fit into a group of hero’s as they are more unique in how there kit works some can be more niche then others

Echo main here💙 *Play for those who like you, not for those who are strong. Motivation is the best skill.* If you have enough experience, you can counter EVERYTHING, thanks to the wild damage from projectiles and a laser that ignores deflects, matrices, grasps etc. You have excellent mobility and escape at the same time (flying can be used as a dash and avoid all sorts of hooks, headshots, because the hitbox changes a lot at the moment of pressing). You need to get used to hitting with projectiles, it can take several tens of hours, depending on your motivation, but then you will destroy everything in your path. Especially the damn genji, which is quite problematic to kill on other dps. A very important tip: try to shoot from the ground more often. This will not only increase your accuracy and damage, but also protect you from unnecessary one-shots. Echo is primarily a melee character and her burst is unmatched. Of course sometimes it is useful to fly, but it is better not to abuse it at first. When I first started playing echo, I thought that I should constantly fly. This is the dumbest thing I could do. Your primary fire is more of a shotgun. And it does REALLY BIG damage in heads you just need to land it (its easy) In any dangerous situation, dash around the corner and generally play from the corners more often, since your hitbox is quite large. In a duel, you have no equal, but only if you hit well and track, if you don’t hit, just fly away for the nearest corner / rooftop. But if you don't like the character herself and want to play her only cus shes strong, then echo is not your choice, i think. You need to feel every projectile and laser and then you will be the most versatile dps that can play in any mode. Even in the deathmatch, where everyone playing hogs. Finishing them with a laser and demolishing their HP bar with two pokes is a separate buzz. And they won’t be able to hook you because you can do your burst damage and dash away.

@@peterhousen7974 Echo has the skill cap of Genji and Widow. To be a good Echo player, you have to be good with all characters worthy of duplicating. (Like Sombruh, Zarya, Reinhardt, Tracer, Mccree, Mei, Ana, etc.), to make use of the ult charge, ESPECIALLY Tracer, if you're very good with Tracer, DUPLICATE HER, a good Tracer can get like 10 pulse bombs. But DON'T DUPCILATE:all healers except Baptiste and Ana, Pharah, etc.
@judgement72792 жыл бұрын
@@bencenagy5459 To be a good echo player, it’s enough to hit with projectiles, a laser, and often you won’t be allowed to fully realize your ult, so it’s better to use it as a save (unless, of course, you have a assembled team that will give you a nanoboost, pocket mercy, as soon as you ult etc) Otherwise, you will get focused very quickly. Thanks to your mobility and damage, you can hit anyone, anywhere, and thanks to your ultimate, get out of any situation alive, like a doomfist in ow1. But unlike a doomfist, you have much more versatile tools to do this. The fact that you need to be able to play for everyone playing echo is an exaggeration. We are still playing a shooter, not an MMO, here it is enough to hit the target. I say this because there are people who believe that echo is the most difficult character in the game (for me it's far from it) and that you must first play 100 hours on each character to play echo, but this is not so. Her strength is not in her ult, her ult is mediocre. Of course, if you play solo, but if you play with a good team, then any ult, even in the crooked hands, becomes extremely strong. By the way, if you have a soldier who can ult, then copying mercy will be a great option. You can also copy Lucio/Mercy/Moira if you need to escape. This is a very versatile ult. A difficult character, as for me, is bastion. It's not a joke. He has a huge hitbox, a huge cooldown on the turret and without help from the team he is just a huge target. His primary fire is completely ineffective up close and the genji will devour you in 2 seconds. Also, the spread has been nerfed, and now you should have surgical accuracy to hit with a turret. If you move the sight by 1 pixel from the model, you no longer hit. A duel with the same sojorn becomes simply impossible, since even in the form of a turret you cannot hit her at a distance of 30 meters due to the dps movespeed buff. But she will hit you with her eyes closed cus you have zero speed and tank hitbox. The only thing you can do well is damage tanks, but if they have a brain, they will just go around the corner and as soon as your turret is over, they will come out and roll you. And the echo in comparison with this squalor is an absolutely independent character. For me, a high skill ceiling is not equal to difficulty, on the contrary, the more opportunities you have, the easier it is for you to play.

I'm a experienced main Reaper. Just want to say one thing: With reaper o Cassidy keep in mind you are a bit vulnerable when you are not in the right position or far from your team and you are almost unable to move while using any of their ultimates. The best way to deal with this with both characters is to save your movement habilites and have them ready if you need to reposition yourself closer to your team and let them know when you have your ultimate ready so they can be more protective or agresive to give you a good chance to use it. Both of these characters can be good flankers, but if you want to flank plan your path and objectives first.

Hanzo MAIN When aiming you should focus on two things 1. TRACKING+FLICKS * at close range your most likey to fight a squishy that wants to solo you out or a tank that got pissed. You want to practice flicks for quick kills. *mid rang you need to practice traking your target then making a (small flick) in the diraction you think their going to move. *See which way they are facing. If their looking at you🧍♂️flick side to side and if they jump aim for where you think they will land and/or their stomach so their head will fall into your arrow If they are not looking at you 🚶♂️your tracking is more important then flicking But if they are running back and forth like soldier aim in the middle for a higher chance to hit. EXAMPLE when fighting a phara you track her body/head and slightly flick where you predict she will go 2. HEAD SHOT LEVEL *Your strongest ability is not you tacks or movements but you ability to get head shots close, mid, and long range. *So if a reaper, solder, tracer, Sombra try to solo or target you not aiming for their head means you will die most of the time. *When your in the back line of the fight and the enemy have to move in A specific direction it better to sonar arrow and fire a second before they peak out or if they are crowded storm arrow or shot in the middle and at close aim for the head at mid range aim an inch above them on your screen. Movement When you aiming keep your distance and stay close to (cover/healing) *You shouldn't jump when you shoot to as accurate as possible unless you trying to throw off a widow or dodging bullets. You need to save your tactical jump when you get charged at by tanks or soloed by squishy players.

I play Cassidy and Bastion Nothing funnier than sticking a character with a small hit box with a sticky bomb and blowing them sky high I try to have a flexible playstyle, but I’m at my best when I’m playing a damage dealer as I’m not great with support and absolutely pitiful with the tank role (sucks too considering I’m willing to play tank as long as my team plays with me) The reason I chose these two over the others is because Bastion’s lower rate of fire actually does a lot of good for me when compared to Solder 76, and he does more for his team, if a team properly protects their bastion, tanks aren’t much of a threat until the enemy team starts protecting their tanks, and even then, killing the supporters leaves everyone with the tank as their single target However with Cassidy, I use him when the team is doing a HORRIBLE job working as a team In short, Bastion is my teamwork hero, Cassidy is my lone wolf hero, both require some precision, but there’s nothing funnier to me than an Ana, Widowmaker or Ashe losing a sniper battle to Cassidy, or watching as Orisa and Roadhog just get melted by Bastion’s turret

I play Sigma if I want to top the damage chart haha. For DPS I usually go for Genji or Cassidy cuz Genji can flank easily and Cassidy is using revolver that is similar to sheriff which is my best weapon from Valorant, still picking up the others tho, fun game. Much to learn

The damage Torb can do with his shotgun (especially to tanks) is severely underrated. Overloading and getting in close with the shotgun probably kills tanks even quicker than reaper does.

24:05 dude. Widowmaker has a passive that gives her 2.5 times headshot damage when she is in sniper mode. Thus 120×2.5 is 300 damage for a fully charged snipe shot on the head.

New Sombra main! I just unlocked her as a new OW2 player and she’s the legend I’ve had the most fun playing. I like how her gun has a lot of ammo and you can flank more easily than Genji for someone who’s normally a little too obvious as a DPS

never played OW1, got into OW2, and with 50 out of 90 hours on soldier 76 now, i can say: the high ground is your best friend. since you have a self-heal you don't really need to stick with your supports. however, be a team player and heal teammates who are low on health if no one else is around to do so - having your team stay alive and fighting with you makes things so much easier, especially since you're less likely to get noticed flanking from the top. he also has an upwards recoil that you can counter by either shooting in very short bursts or - even better - constantly dragging the analog stick down. rockets are best saved as a final shot on low hp enemies as you reload and if things stop going your way, sprint away!

21:18 Sym ult can be destroyed, just like Mauga barrier. They just have very large health pools of around 4000HP iirc. So things like hog ult, or damage boosted bastion turret form can chew through it. It’s just not usually the best play to focus down the sym wall 😅
@ReunionMana2 жыл бұрын
leaving out gameplan, so here you go ashe: almost entirely dynamite utility. even if you cant aim super well, good dynamites are all you need. its super strong, and you should always be looking for them when the enemies group up or try to push. cassidy/solider/soujourn/widow/hanzo/bastion: control sightlines. all of these characters are designed to attack down a sightline and keep it totally contested, meaning nobody can enter the sightline while these heroes are there because they deal so much damage wherever they're looking that they can easily just kill people who wander in. additionally, hanzo and cass excel at close range as well--technically they all do, but these are the easiest to use when the enemy gets closer. bastion is a special case because his hitbox is so fucking huge you can easily die just by standing around and poking at the enemy in sentry form, so you need to be careful playing him. genji/tracer/echo: flank all day, just be obnoxious as fuck, and more than anything these heroes are incredible skill dependent. not only do you need to aim, but you need to know how to use natural cover, time your abilities, win 1v1s, use your mobility properly, and more. probably the hardest dps to play, even considering point and click heroes like widow. echo's flight is obviously the outlier here, but you should be playing her like a flanker, not like pharah. junk/sym/torb: spam damage at the choke and punish people who get close. just dont stop pressing your mouse buttons where enemies will come from and you should win. junk kills so easily when the enemy gets near, and sym and torb can too, although sym is the squishiest but tp is a really good, all-purpose get out of jail free card, though it can be a bit slow. torb's turret is for controlling sightlines. pharah: mix of spam damage and flanker. find the tiniest little sightlines you can shoot enemies through to farm ult and exert pressure, then get in practically within melee range for kills. you need to be close to get kills unless the enemies are literally brainless. also learn how to use fuel, and never just fly around in the middle of nowhere, use natural cover even while flying like corners and ceilings. again, and i cant stress this enough, you need to be close to get kills. when you want to kill someone, fly on TOP of them and shoot DOWN, then go to the next enemy afterwards, rinse and repeat until they all die. reaper: get within melee range and press m1, preferably through a flank route or from above the enemies. dropping onto enemies is ideal. if you can't get close enough to do that, you're being countered and are effectively useless. take 1v1s by using wraith form to cleanse/avoid damage like cass grenade or ashe dynamite. you can theoretically play reaper defensively vs enemies flankers and dive tanks, but if you're swapping to counterpick you've already lost honestly sombra: flanker, duelist, harass, utility, everything except long range damage. plant translocator somewhere safe but still close to the action, go invis, get behind the enemy, hack a squishy, decloak and m1 for the kill, translocate, rinse and repeat. emp is an instant fight win if you time it as your team is walking in. you can always take a 1v1 if the enemy is hacked, it will force enemy support cooldowns like ana nade and bap lamp. if they use these abilities, translocate out, you've done your part. mei: dont play mei lol, if you have to use her on nepal village and trap people as they walk through the choke points. you are not a character without your ult or your wall, and even then that's conditionally based on whether you've positioned them right.

How many characters should be "mastered" for the best experience later on? I played a little of Overwatch 1 when it was released and left it for years. It looks like now it's good opportunity to come back. In games I like playing healer/support so I watched your video about them as well. It's obvious that it would be best to know how to play effectively with all of them, but I'm just wondering how many characters an average player actually plays.
@zwordz2 жыл бұрын
Average players typically touch a couple heroes per role and does not understand how to play them all. Typically, you'd want alternative hero options to counter certain heroes. For example, knowing how to play Pharah, Sombra, and Soldier 76 are three heroes that can fit into many playstyles and are great options to fall back to when the enemy team is playing certain heroes. Example: Pharah counters Junkrat, Mei, and Reaper; she can stay above her team. If enemy team swaps to hitscan for you, can swap to Soldier 76 and do just as much damage. Or if you are pharah and your team is playing a bit too fast for you, could go sombra for the extra speed and flanking capabilities.

@@zwordz thank you for prompt and informative reply, makes a lot of sense :) what about roles? Is it okay and possible to rank up as a support main, playing dps from time to time when needed without touching tank for example?
@zwordz2 жыл бұрын
@@musazichle8476 Of course ! Your rank between each role is separate, so if you were a Plat level Support player, that doesn't mean when you play Damage that your rank crosses over. You'll have to do your damage placements anyway to find out your rank that way. Fortunately, no matter which role or roles you decide to pursue to improve through rank, the system will make sure you're where you need to be until you demonstrate that you've improved, then it will rank you up when it thinks you're ready :)

Junk main in masters here. Junk has a very low skill floor HOWEVER an incredibly high ceiling to climb anywhere in high diamond and above. Hitscans rule the high ranks. Playing junk is a massive disadvantage to put yourself at usually so he’s definitely harder to climb high with than just about any hitscan in my opinion.

For some reason, in Overwatch 2, I'm just a jack of all trades. I'm mostly a tank/support main, but I really just go for whatever counters the enemy team best. I've only played ranked this season, and I've only had a little bit of time to invest so I'm only gold, but being able to adapt is more important than having a main imo. New players, just put time into everyone. Every character in every role. Once you have a few hours into each, you'll know your own playstyle.
@casualbowloframen77 Жыл бұрын
This was generally my philosophy throughout OW1, especially when there was no role queue, but now, after being hardstuck plat/dia for a couple years, I’ve found that it’s absolutely necessary to have a couple specialty heroes to acquire nuanced ways to play them, allowing you to outplay the opponent and turn team fights in your favor. For me, my main 4 rn are Tracer, Genji, Sojourn and Widow. With these three heroes I not only cover all my other characters weaknesses, but my teams as well. I can play a defensive genji if my supports are struggling, an offensive tracer if my tank is getting outdueled, and a sojourn as a hybrid of these, due to the strength of her disruptor shot. And I can play widow if one of their dps is hard carrying the rest of the enemy team, and we need someone who can go toe to toe with them, as I am a pretty good aimer. Just my thoughts tho, there are plenty of flex players in gm I’m sure, it’s just I’ve found a lot more success running a fixed amount of characters. (Plat 2- Masters 1)
